SCR 촉매층 형상변화에 따른 침식특성에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE EROSION CHARACTERISTICS OF SCR CATALYST DUCT BY VARYING ITS GEOMETRICAL CONFIGURATION)

  • The SCR catalyst in coal-fired power plant is eroded by the collision of fly ash on the catalyst surface. However the erosion of SCR catalyst by the collision of fly ash has not been fully studied, especially in terms of fluid dynamics. Hence, in the present study, we focus on the gas and solid flows inside the SCR catalyst duct and their consequent effect on the erosion characteristics. For this purpose, computational fluid dynamics is applied to investigate the two-phase flows and to evaluate the erosion rate for different flow and particle injection conditions. Also, the erosion rate and pressure drop of commonly used square shape are compared with equilateral triangle and hexagon shapes. The pressure drop of SCR catalyst is increased when SCR catalyst surface area per unit volume increases. The erosion rate of SCR catalyst is enhanced when the particle velocity, mass flow rate of particle, particle diameter and cell density of SCR catalyst are increased. From the results, the pressure drop and erosion rate at the catalyst surface can be minimized by reducing cell density of SCR catalyst to decrease particle velocity and number of particle impacts.

폐 RHDM 촉매의 재생 후 워시코팅에 의한 NOx 저감 효율 (The Efficiency of NOx Reduction by Regeneration and Wash Coating of Spent RHDM Catalyst)

  • 폐 RHDM(Residue Hydrodemetallation) 촉매상에 침적된 비활성화 성분인 탄소, 황 을 고온배소 처리하여 제거한 후, 과량 침적되어 있는 바나듐은 초음파 교반기에서 5~15wt% 옥살산 수용액을 이용하여 $50^{\circ}C$, 5분 조건하에 바나듐 추출량을 조절함으로써 NOx 저감을 위한SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) 촉매로의 적용 가능성을 확인하고자 하였다. 폐촉매와 단계별 처리된 RHDM 촉매를 대상으로 상압반응기상에서 NOx 저감 효율을 측정하였고, 촉매의 성분분석은 ICP, C & S analyzer 및 XRF를 이용하여 분석하였다. 10wt% 옥살산 수용액으로 바나듐을 침출한 촉매가 가장 안정적이었으며 높은 NOx 저감 효율을 보였다. 이를 메탈폼 형태의 지지체에 워시코팅한 촉매는 상용 SCR 촉매와 동등 수준의 NOx 저감 효율을 나타내었다. 따라서 폐 RHDM 촉매의 처리 조건 조정에 관한 후속 연구를 통하여 각 적용처에 적합한 SCR 촉매로의 이용 가능성은 충분할 것으로 사료된다.

  • NOx의 배출저감 방법으로 선박용 디젤엔진의 최적화만으로는 배기가스의 NOx 배출량 제한을 만족시킬 수 없기 때문에 반드시 배기가스를 후처리하여 NOx를 저감할 수 있는 방안이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 현재 개발 중에 있는 선박용 SCR 촉매 유닛 일체형 덕트용 오일 버너 시스템에서 요소수를 NH3로 효과적으로 변환하기 위한 이류체 노즐과 믹싱 챔버 덕트에 관한 설계 타당성 여부를 속도분포 및 온도분포에 대한 전산열유동 해석을 통해 검토하고자 한다.

  • Recently, as the current and future emission regulations go stringent, the research of NOx reduction has become a subject of increasing interest and attention in diesel engine. Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is one of the effective technology to reduce NOx emission from diesel engine. Especially, Urea-SCR that uses urea as a reductant is becoming increasingly popular as a cost effective way of reducing NOx emissions from heavy duty vehicles. In this research, we designed urea injector and DCU (Dosing Control Unit) specially developed for controlling the Urea-SCR process onboard vehicles. As passenger and commercial diesel engine experiment, we grasped characteristics of NOx emission and SCR catalyst temperature level in advance. As a result, highest NOx emission level was shown in condition of low engine speed and high load. On the other hand, SCR catalyst temperature was highest at high engine speed and load. On the basis of these result, we conducted the NOx reduction test at steady engine operating conditions using the urea injector and DCU. It was shown that 74% NOx conversion efficiency on the average and 97% NOx conversion efficiency was obtained at high SCR catalyst temperature.

Bypass 일체형 선박용 탈질설비의 입구형태에 대한 연구 (Study on the Inlet Shape of a Selective Catalyst Reduction System with an Integrated Bypass Unit for Ships)

  • Bypass line과 Catalyst를 공간적으로 결합한 Bypass 일체형 탈질설비를 제안하였다. 탈질설비 내부에 설치되는 Bypass의 개폐장치의 형태에 따른 Catalyst로의 유동 변화를 확인하기 위하여 상용프로그램인 Ansys Fluent를 사용하여 탈질설비를 모델링하고 시뮬레이션을 구성하였다. 탈질설비 내의 Catalyst로 인한 계산시간과 Mesh의 수를 줄이기 위해 Porous media방식으로 Catalyst를 모델링하였다. Catalyst로의 입구각도와 Bypass 개폐장치의 크기를 변화시키면서 시뮬레이션을 수행하고 시뮬레이션의 결과로 Catalyst로의 유동 평균속도와 균일도의 변화를 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 상용 SCR 촉매보다 비표면적, 경량성 및 온도 응답성이 우수한 SCR 촉매의 개발을 목적으로 바나듐과 텅스텐의 함량과 바인더의 첨가량을 달리하여 Metal foam 형태의 지지체에 코팅하여 SCR 촉매를 제조한 후, 실험실 규모의 마이크로 상압반응기상에서 공간속도별로 NOx 저감 성능을 측정하였다. 촉매의 특성은 Porosimeter, SEM(scanning electron microscope), EDX(energy dispersive x-ray spectrometer) 및 ICP(inductively coupled plasma), 실체현미경(Stereomicroscope) 기기를 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 NOx 저감 성능은 공간속도가 증가할수록 감소하였고, 바나듐과 텅스텐의 함량이 3.5 wt.% 일 때 가장 우수한 것으로 확인하였다. 또한, 바인더 첨가량이 많을수록 NOx 저감 성능이 감소하는 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 촉매 표면상의 활성점 수가 바인더에 의해 점유되어 감소된 것에 따른 것으로 판단된다. 또한 표면 코팅 상태 분석을 통하여 바인더의 첨가량이 적절히 조절 되어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

Effects of Different Precursors on the Surface Mn Species Over $MnO_x/TiO_2$ for Low-temperature SCR of NOx with $NH_3$

  • The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of $MnO_x$ with $NH_3$ is an effective method for the removal of $MnO_x$ from stationary system. The typical catalyst for this method is $V_2O_5-WO_3(MoO_3)/TiO_2$, caused by the high activity and stability. However, This catalyst is active within $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$ and occurs the pore plugging from the deposition of ammonium sulfate salts on the catalysts surface. It needs to locate the SCR unit after the desulfurizer and electrostatic precipitator without reheating of the flue gas as well as deposition of dust on the catalyst. The manganese oxides supported on titania catalysts have attracted interest because of its high SCR activity at low temperature. The catalytic activity of $MnO_x/TiO_2$ SCR catalyst with different manganese precursors have investigated for low-temperature SCR in terms of structural, morphological, and physico-chemical analyses. The $MnO_x/TiO_2$ were prepared from three different precursors such as manganese nitrate, manganese acetate (II), and manganese acetate (III) by the sol-gel method and then it calcinated at $500^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr. The structural analysis was carried out to identify the phase transition and the change intensity of catalytic activity by various manganese precursors was analyzed by FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy. These different precursors also led to various surface Mn concentrations indicated by SEM. The Mn acetate (III) tends to be more suppressive the crystalline phase (rutile), and it has not only smaller particle size, but also better distributed than the others. It was confirmed that the catalytic activity of MA (III)-$MnO_x/TiO_2$ was the highest among them.

Mn/TiO2 촉매를 이용한 일산화질소의 산화반응 특성 연구 (A Study on Characterization for Catalytic Oxidation of Nitrogen Monoxide Over Mn/TiO2 Catalyst)

  • 본 연구에서는, $Mn/TiO_2$ 촉매를 이용하여 일산화질소의 산화반응 특성에 따른 연구가 수행되었다. $TiO_2$의 물리 화학적 특징 및 활성금속인 Mn과 담체인 $TiO_2$의 interaction에 따라 일산화질소의 산화반응이 서로 다르게 나타남을 관찰하였다. 우수한 NO oxidation 반응을 나타낸 $Mn/TiO_2(A)$의 경우, Mn의 함량이 10 wt%에서 30 wt%로 증가할수록, 공간속도가 낮아질수록, 반응활성이 증가함을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 SCR 전단에 $Mn/TiO_2$ 촉매를 사용함으로써, fast-SCR을 유도하여 SCR반응활성이 증진될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

선택적환원촉매를 적용한 중소형 경유차량의 질소산화물 저감 특성 연구 (A Study on $NO_x$ Reduction in a Light Duty Diesel Vehicle Equipped with a SCR Catalyst)

  • To reach the Euro-6 regulations of PM and $NO_x$ for light-duty diesel vehicles, it will be necessary to apply the CDPF and the de-$NO_x$ catalyst. The described system consists of a catalytic configuration, where the CDPF is placed downstream of the diesel engine and followed by a urea injection unit and a urea-SCR catalyst. One of the advantages of this system configuration is that, in this way, the SCR catalyst is protected from PM, and both white PM and deposits become reduced. In the urea-SCR system, the injection control of reductant is the most important thing in order to have good performance of $NO_x$ reduction. The ideal ratio of $NH_3$ molecules to $NO_x$ molecules is 1:1 based on $NH_3$ consumption and having $NH_3$ available for reaction of all of the exhaust $NO_x$. However, under the too low and too high temperature condition, the $NO_x$ reduction efficiency become slower, due to temperature window of SCR catalyst. And space velocity also affects to $NO_x$ conversion efficiency. In this paper, rig-tests were performed to evaluate the effects of $NO_x$ and $NH_3$ concentrations, gas temperature and space velocity on the $NO_x$ conversion efficiency of the urea-SCR system. And vehicle test was performed to verify control strategy of reductatnt injection. The developed control strategy of reductant injection was improved over all $NO_x$ reduction efficiency and $NH_3$ consumption in urea-SCR system. Results of this paper contribute to develop urea-SCR system for light-duty vehicles to meet Euro-5 emission regulations.

Application of SNCR/SCR Combined process for effective operation of SCR Process

  • This paper have examined the optimum combination of SNCR and SCR by varying SNCR injection temperature and NSR ratio along with SCR space velocity. NOx reduction experiments using a SNCR/SCR combined process have been conducted in simple NO/NH$_3$/O$_2$ gas mixtures. Total gas flow rate was kept constant 4 liter/min throughout the SNCR and SCR reactors, where initial NOx concentration was 500 ppm in the presence of 5% O$_2$. Commercial catalyst, sulfated V$_2$O$\_$5/-WO$_3$/TiO$_2$, was used for SCR NOx reduction. The residence time and space velocity were around 1.67 sec, 2,400 h$\^$-1/ and 6,000 h$\^$-1/ in the SNCR and SCR reactors, respectively. SNCR NOx reduction effectively occurred in a temperature window of 900-950$^{\circ}C$. About 88% NOx reduction was achieved with an optimum temperature of 950$^{\circ}C$ and NSR=1.5. SCR NOx reduction using commercial V$_2$O$\_$5/-WO$_3$-SO$_4$/TiO$_2$ catalyst occurred in a temperature window of 200-450$^{\circ}C$ 80-98% NOxreduction was possible with SV=2400 h$\^$-1/ and a molar ratio of 1.0-2.0. A SNCR/SCR(SV=6000 h$\^$-1/) combined process has shown same NOx reduction compared with a stand-alone SCR(SV=2400 h$\^$-1/) unit process of 98% NOx reduction. The NH$_3$-based chemical could routinely achieve SNCR/SCR combined process total NOx reductions of 98% with less than 5 ppm NH$_3$ slip at NSR ranging from about 1.5 to 2.0, SNCR temperature of 900$^{\circ}C$-950$^{\circ}C$, and SCR space velocity of 6000 h$\^$-1/. Particularly, more than 98% NOx reduction was possible using the combined process under the conditions of T$\_$SNCR/=950$^{\circ}C$, T$\_$SCR/=350$^{\circ}C$, 5% O$_2$, SV=6000 h$\^$-1/ and NH$_3$/NOx=1.5. A catalyst volume was about three times reduced by SNCR/SCR combined process compared with SCR process under the same controlled conditions.
