오미자추출물의 Listeria Monocytogenes에 대한 항균효과

  • To development food preservative, antimicrobial activities of Schizandra chinensis (SC) against Listeria monocytogenes Scott A, L. monocytogenes Brie I and L. monocytogenes ATCC 19111 were investigated. The growth of L. monocytogenes Scott A, L. monocytogenes Brie I and L. monocytogenes ATCC 19111 was inhibited apparently in Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) containing 1% SC at 35$\circ$C and it was found that these had antibacterial effects against a broad spectrum of pathogenic bacteria such as S. aureus ATCC 29737, B. subtilis KCTC 1021, E. coli ATCC 11775. The growth of L. monocytogenes was also inhibited about 3 to 5 log$_{10}$ cycle by 0.1% of three fractions of the alcohol extract such as ether, ethyl acetate and butanol. Acidic, weakly acid and neutral fraction of ether fraction showed inhibitory properties against L. monocytogenes.

Siphonostomatoid copepods (Crustacea) mainly associated with marine invertebrates from Korean waters

  • Twelve species of siphonostomatoid copepods mainly associated with marine invertebrates are recorded from Korean waters. Nine species are new to science: Arctopontius minutus n. sp., A. adelphus n. sp, and Dyspontius alatus n. sp. in the family Artotrogidae; Asterocheres horridus n. sp., A. cuspis n. sp., A. quadridens n. sp., Scottocheres mipoensis n. sp., Asteropontoides acutirostris n. sp. and Callomyzon macrocephalus n. gen. n. sp. in the family Asterocheridae. The new genus Callomyzon is distinguished from other genera in the family by having six setae on the third endopodal segment of leg 3, four spines and three setae on the third exopodal segment of leg 4 and three setae on the third endopodal segment of leg 4. Three new records of Korea, Asterocheres lilljeborgi Boeck, 1859 and A. simulans (T. Scott, 1898) in the Asterocheridae, and Parartotrogus arcticus T. and A. Scott, 1901 in the Cancerillidae are redescribed as the circum-Arctic species.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to observe the effect of needle-embedding combined with oriental medical treatment therapy on hemifacial spasm. Methods : 2 patients were treated with needle-embedding therapy with oriental medical treatment. After treatment, we evaluated the effect by Scott's scale. And we checked the satisfaction degree and side effect. Results : After treatment, the grade of spasm classified by Scott's scale was decreased and hemifacial spasm was visibly improved. Conclusions : This study showed that needle-embedding therapy with oriental medical treatment was effective to improve hemifacial spasm.

전철 급전계통의 EMTDC 모델개발 (Development of EMTDC Model for Electrified Railroad Supply System)

  • This paper presents the first Simulation model using EMTDC program to analyze the electrified train voltage distribution characteristics in ac auto-transformer 1110 railroads. In general, all of the electrified train supply system has the characteristics that the train supply line is a naturally non-symmetrical and unbalanced system. Also, it is needed to model the Scott transformer which invert the balanced 3-phase quantity into 2-phase. Therefore, the general simulation methodology using previous simplified equivalent circuit or RMS based program can't obtain the accurate results to reflect the real-time operation because these methodology is basically assumed on completely 3-phase balanced system. To overcome these defects, in this paper, the EMTDC simulation model to analysis the completely electrified railroad system with Scott transformer and AC auto-transformer is presented. Also, the correctness of EMTDC modeling is confirmed by the old basic concepts and we think that this EMTDC model has the future powerful capability for application of railroad system analysis.

  • The scott transformer is used to supply single-phase power to the AC railway system. Since the scott transformer is a passive facility, it cannot regulate load-side voltage according to load change. Meanwhile, the Voltage Source Converter (VSC) is able to convert the voltage and control active and reactive power. In this paper, the feasibility of a AC railway system based on Back-to-Back (BTB) VSC which is composed of a rectifier, a DC-DC converter, a inverter, has been proposed. A three-phase to single-phase BTB VSC is modeled. The proposed AC railway system based on BTB VSC is tested on Matlab/Simulink.

  • Objectives : The main purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of treatment with Soyeom Pharmacupuncture at G20(Punji) for ten patients with hemifacial spasm. Methods : We have treated them with acupuncture treatment and Soyeom Pharmacupuncture at G20(Pungji), and evaluated the effect by Scott's scale. Results: After treatment, the grades of spasm intensity classified by Scott's description were improved in 9 cases. Conclusion : This data suggested that Soyeom Pharmacupuncture at G20(Pungji) for hemifacial spasm was effective and will be attempted to the patients wi1h it.

Listeria monocytogenes의 열저항성에 미치는 pH와 Nisin의 효과 (Effect of pH and Nisin on Heat Resistance of Listeria monocytogenes Scott A)

  • The effect of pH (7, 5 and 4) and nisin (100 and 200IU/ml) on heat resistance of Listeria monocytogenes Scott A were determined using citrate-phosphate buffer system. Heat resistance of vegetative and starved cell was decreased as pH value was lower at 65 and 72C. Starved L. monocytogenes was more resistant than vegetative cell at both temperature. Heat resistance of vegetative and starved cell was decreased significantly with treatment of nisin. The effect of nisin was increased significantly at low pH(5, 4). Adherent microcolony was more resistant to heat and nisin than planktonic cell. Contamination of L. monocytogenes may be prevent by using nisin in food and food processing environments.

  • F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby has been interpreted to be saturated with the lamentation over the distortion and evaporation of the American dream. The application of Friedrich Nietzsche's mythic concept of Dionysus, discussed in The Birth of Tragedy, surfaces a fresh layer of the novel, subverting the established pessimistic reading. To focus on a peripheral character, Myrtle Wilson, through Nietzsche's theory brings forth an optimistic vision of the author. A Dionysian ecstasy so powerfully overwhelms Myrtle that she perceives Tom, the very picture of corruption and crime in Fitzgerald's text, as a benefic liberator. Her impassioned perception of Tom enables her to soar over both legal or moral censorship and her realistic confinement. Myrtle's amoral passion endows her with the vital desire to live. Her Dionysian dynamo embodies the core of new version of the American dream Fitzgerald suggests as a measure to reanimate the lost generation of his nation.

A new species of the genus Robertgurneya (Copepoda: Harpacticoida: Miraciidae) from the East Sea of Korea

  • Benthic harpacticoids were collected from the East Sea of Korea. Specimen were identified as members of the genus Robertgurneya Apostolov & Marinov, 1988 based on the following characteristics: the fourth segment of antennule with aesthetasc, antenna with three-segmented exopod, shape of mandible, and P1-P4 armature formula. Robertgurneya donghaensis sp. nov. is morphologically most closely related to R. simulans (Norman & Scott T., 1905) and R. similis similis (Scott A., 1896). However, R. donghaensis is characterized by the rostrum with a pointed tip, caudal rami about as board as the length of its inner edge, the first segment of the P1 endopod much longer than entire exopod, and the P5 exopod with five setae in male. The genus Robertgurneya is reported from Korean waters for the first time.
