건강인(健康人)의 혈청철(血淸鐵), 철결합능(鐵結合能) 및 transferrin saturation 측정(測定)에 관(關)하여 (Determination of Serum Iron, Iron-Binding Capacity and Transferrin Saturation in_Health)

  • Nutritional anemias are an important nutritional problem affecting large population groups in most developing countries. Many reports on investigations of nutritional anemias have been published and there is good evidence that prevalence of iron deficiency anemias in vulnerable groups is high in many areas of the world. However, there is a general lack of accurate data on its prevalence throughout the world. Methods used to measure different factors have been variable and often of poor quality. Furthermore recent comparison of values obtained in different laboratories have shown a much greater discrepancy in iron binding capacity measurements as compared with serum iron determinations. Since the major cause of these differences appears related to the technique employed, the efforts of the central laboratory will be directed initially to standardization of methodology. My laboratory has been joined interlaboratory comparison of WHO studies of iron standardization. The determination of serum iron, iron-binding capacity and transferrin saturation was done on healthy adults, 79 males and 20 females, who visited hospital for health certificate from January to July 1970. The serum iron was determined by the method of modification of Bothwell and Mallett and total iron blinding capacity by Ramsay method and Bothwell and Mallett method. The results of this study are as follows; 1) The serum iron concentration of seventy nine adult male by the method presented is $131.5{\pm}37.3{\mu}g/100ml\;(range\;52.5{\sim}225.0{\mu}g/100ml)$ and of twenty female adult is $108.5{\pm}40.2{\mu}g/100ml\;(range\;45.0{\sim}202.5{\mu}g/100ml)$. 2) The adult male level of serum iron-binding capacity is $330.9{\pm}48.9{\mu}g/100ml\;and\;adult\;female\;is\;291.2{\pm}55.2{\mu}g/100ml$. 3) The transferring saturation of healthy male is $35.6{\pm}12.8%\;(range\;15.1{\sim}18.0%)\;and\;of\;female\;as\;25.4{\pm}12.4%\;(range\;10.1{\sim}60.0)$.

포르말린과 청색 LED 병용처리에 의한 항스쿠티카 효과 (Anti-scuticociliate effects of a combined treatment with formalin and blue LED)

  • Scuticociliatosis caused by Miamiensis avidus is a very important parasitic disease in olive flounder farming industry. The aim of this study was to determine effect of combined treatment with blue LED (light-emitting diode) illumination and formalin on olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) infected with M. avidus. Different intensity of 405 nm LED (20, 40, and 60 μmol·m-2·s-1) was illuminated on 2.2×104 cells/well of M. avidus in a 24 well microplate for 24 h. Also, 2.4×104 cells/well of M. avidus were exposed to varying combinations of 60 μmol·m-2·s-1 of 405 nm LED and serial 10-fold dilutions of formalin (from 10 to 100 ppm) for 15, 30, 45, and 60 min. Surviving M. avidus were counted using a hemocytometer. For in vivo test, flounder acclimatized at 11-12 practical salinity unit (psu) were challenged with 2×106 cells/ml of M. avidus by immersion method for 1 h. Then, fish were moved and divided into four groups; "F" group, treated with formalin at 50 ppm; "L" group, treated with 60 μmol·m-2·s-1 of 405 nm LED; "C" group, treated with combination of the two methods; and the control group. After treatment for 30 min, fish were transferred to new tanks (salinity = 11-12 psu) and observed for 3 weeks. As a result, illumination of 405 nm LED at 60 μmol·m-2·s-1 killed 100% of M. avidus after 12 h, while 67% and 90% of the scuticociliate died at 20 and 40 μmol·m-2·s-1, respectively, after 24 h exposure. One hundred percent of M. avidus was killed at 90, 80, 80 and 70 ppm after exposure to formalin for 15, 30, 45 and 60 min, respectively. However, combined method (e.g., 60 μmol·m-2·s-1 of 405 nm-LED plus 50 ppm formalin) killed the parasite within 30 min. From in vivo test, similarly, survival rates of fish challenged with M. avidus were 100%, 43%, 29% and 0% in the C, F, L, and control groups, respectively. Results obtained in this study demonstrates that the combined treatment method has clear synergistic effect on scuticociliatosis in fish.

A $^{13}C$ NMR Study of 7-Norbornadienyl Cation by Modified Hammett-Brown Equation

  • A series of the para-substituted 7-aryl-norbornadienyl cation (3) was prepared in FSO3H/SO2ClF solution at -100℃ and their 13C NMR shifts were measured at -80℃. The plots of the chemical shifts (changes in chemical shifts) of cationic carbon, ΔδC+, aganist our calculated new substituent constant, σc+s, gave an excellent correlation (r=0.994), with a ρc+ value of 12.63. These results indicate that the new substituent constants, σc+s, can be successfully employed to compare the relative charge demand of the carbonium ion by π-and πσ-participation.

  • Zespri green kiwi의 무기질은 K, P, Ca 순으로 많았으며, 아미노산은 glutamic acid, aspartic acid, arginine 순으로 많이 함유되어 있었다. 지방산 함량은 a-linolenic acid, oleic acid 순으로 많이 함유되어 있었으며, 유리당은 fructose 함량이 가장 높았다. Vitamin C와 ${\beta}$-carotene 함량은 각각 29.21 mg/100 g, $1.35{\mu}g/100g$이었다. Total phenolics는 n-hexane 분획물이 11.83 mg GAE/g으로 가장 높았으며, ABTS radical 소거활성 및 지질 과산화 억제활성에서는 농도 의존적으로 in vitro 항산화 활성이 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 oxidative stress에 대한 신경세포 보호효과 역시 농도의존적 경향을 보여주었다. 본 연구 결과를 종합해볼 때, 생리활성 소재로서의 phenolics를 함유한 kiwi fruit (A.deliciosa)는 in vitro 항산화 활성과 함께 신경세포 보호효과를 기초로 한 고부가 가치 건강지향식품 소재로서의 활용가치가 높다고 판단된다.

국내 재배 아마란스 어린잎의 영양성분 비교 (Comparison of Nutritional Compositions between Amaranth Baby-Leaves Cultivated in Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 아마란스 잎의 식품학적 가치를 향상시키고, 기능성 쌈 채소로의 육성과 활용에 기초자료를 제공하고자 국내에서 재배된 아마란스 Amaranthus cruentus와 Amaranthus hypochondriacus 어린잎의 영양성분을 비교 조사하였다. 아마란스 두 종류의 일반성분은 수분이 대부분을 차지하였으며, A. hypochondriacus보다 A. cruentus의 수분 함량이 더 높았다. 반면 A. hypochondriacus 잎의 조회분, 조단백, 조지방, 탄수화물 및 식이섬유 함량이 A. cruentus 잎보다 높았다. 아마란스 잎의 주요 유리당은 fructose와 glucose로 확인되었으며, fructose는 A. hypochondriacus의 잎에서, glucose는 A. cruentus의 잎에서 더 높게 측정되었다. 유기산은 succinic acid를 제외한 acetic, malic, fumaric acid가 검출되었으며, 아미노산은 methionine과 proline, tyrosine을 제외한 총 17가지가 함유되어 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 두 아마란스 잎 모두 필수 아미노산 함량보다 비필수 아미노산 함량이 더 높았으나 비필수 아미노산 중 glutamic acid의 함량이 가장 높게 함유되어 있어 이에 따른 감칠맛의 정미성이 있을 것으로 생각된다. 또한, 기타 아미노산으로 다양한 생리활성을 가진 taurine과 GABA(${\gamma}$-amino butyric acid)가 다량 함유되어 있어 기능성 쌈 채소로의 역할이 기대된다. 아마란스 두 종류의 무기질은 K이 대부분을 차지하였으며, 모든 무기질은 A. cruentus보다 A. hypochondriacus에서 높았다. 아마란스 잎의 지방산은 대부분 불포화 지방산이었으며, 그중에서도 오메가-3 지방산인 linolenic acid 함량이 높은 비중을 차지하고 있었다. A. cruentus와 A. hypochondriacus 잎의 ${\beta}$-carotene 함량은 각각 $478.72{\mu}g/100g$, $474.12{\mu}g/100g$으로 측정되었으며, 비타민 B군은 $B_2$, $B_3$, $B_5$만이 검출되었고 $B_1$, $B_6$, $B_{12}$는 검출되지 않았다. 또한 A. hypochondriacus 잎에는 A. cruentus 잎보다 더 많은 양의 항산화 비타민 C와 E를 함유하고 있었다. 이상의 결과로 아마란스 잎은 품종, 재배 지역 및 환경 등에 따라 각 함량에 차이는 있으나 다양한 영양성분을 함유하고 있는 것으로 조사되었으며, 이에 따라 기능성 쌈 채소로써의 이용성이 높을 것으로 기대된다.

Chemical Composition and Antimicrobial Activity of Cone Volatile oil of Cupressus macrocarpa Hartwig from Nilgiris, India

  • The aim of the present study was to investigate the various chemical components present in the cone volatile oil of Cupressus macrocarpa and also determine its antimicrobial activity. Totally 13 compounds were identified with 99.99% by GC-MS analysis. The major compounds identified were terpinene-4-ol (19.42%), dinopol (15.63%), ${\alpha}$-pinene (13.58%), and ${\beta}$-pinene (12.16%). The antimicrobial activity was carried out for the oil and a 2% cream formulation using cup plate method by measuring the zone of inhibition. The gram positive organisms used were Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus megaterium, and Bacillus cogulans. The gram negative organisms used were Escherichia coli, Kleibseilla pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella typhi. In vitro antifungal studies were also carried out by using organisms, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Trichoderma lignorum and Cryptococcus neoformans. The standard drugs used were penicillin ($100{\mu}g/mL$), gentamycin ($100{\mu}g/mL$) and griseofulvin ($100{\mu}g/mL$) for gram positive bacteria, gram negative bacteria and fungi respectively. Both oil and cream formulation showed good activity against fungi than bacteria. This study is being reported for the first time on cone volatile oil of this plant.

냉동 저장 중 복분자딸기(Rubus coreanus Miq.)의 품질 변화 (Quality changes in Rubus coreanus Miquel during Frozen Storage)

  • 완숙 복분자딸기(Rubus coreanus Miq.) 과실부의 냉동저장 중 품질 특성의 변화를 조사하였다. 저장 초기에 비하여 과실을 저장 할수록 산도는 감소하였고, 가용성고형분은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 색상의 경우 저장 초기에는 L, a값이 35.63, 6.74 value로 전체적으로 밝은 붉은 빛을 가졌지만, 냉동 저장되어지면서 28.56, 4.13 value로 유의적으로 감소되어짐에 따라 점차 어두워지고 붉은 빛은 감소하였다. 비타민 C(30.79 mg/100 g)와 엘라그산($155.12\;{\mu}g/100\;mg$) 함량은 저장 초기에 가장 높았으며, 저장 시간이 지날수록 이들의 함량은 감소되었다.

A Rail-to-Rail Input 12b 2 MS/s 0.18 μm CMOS Cyclic ADC for Touch Screen Applications

  • A 12b 2 MS/s cyclic ADC processing 3.3 Vpp single-ended rail-to-rail input signals is presented. The proposed ADC demonstrates an offset voltage less than 1 mV without well-known calibration and trimming techniques although power supplies are directly employed as voltage references. The SHA-free input sampling scheme and the two-stage switched op-amp discussed in this work reduce power dissipation, while the comparators based on capacitor-divided voltage references show a matched full-scale performance between two flash sub ADCs. The prototype ADC in a $0.18{\mu}m$ 1P6M CMOS demonstrates the effective number of bits of 11.48 for a 100 kHz full-scale input at 2 MS/s. The ADC with an active die area of $0.12\;mm^2$ consumes 3.6 m W at 2 MS/s and 3.3 V (analog)/1.8 V (digital).

  • Present study was undertaken to establish the modified Broca's indices to estimate standard body weight by using a total of 5,496 insured persons who were medically examined at the Honam Medical Room of Dong Bang Life Insurance Company Ltd. from January, 1983 to January, 1986. 하지 혈관조영검사 시 매개변수인 관전류와 SOD에 변화에 대한 조영제 희석률 분석 (Analysis of Contrast Medium Dilution Rate for changes in Tube Current and SOD, which are Parameters of Lower Limb Angiography Examination)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 하지 혈관조영검사에서 매개변수인 관전류 (mA)와 SOD에 대한 조영제 농도(300, 320, 350) 희석률의 관계가 화질에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 말초혈관 직경 크기로 자체 제작한 3 mm 혈관모형 Water 팬텀을 이용하여, 관전류 (mA), SOD 변화와 조영제 농도(300, 320, 350) 희석률 변화의 관계를 SNR 값과 CNR 값으로 측정하고 변동계수를 (cv < 10) 분석하였다. SNR 값과 CNR 값의 측정에 사용된 소프트웨어는 Image J 1.50i, (NIH) National Institutes of Health, USA)로, PACS에 전송된 의료영상표준(DICOM, digital imaging and communications in medicine) 3.0 파일에서 팬텀에 대한 관심영역(ROI, region of interest)과 배경(Background)의 영상 신호를 수치적으로 확인한 후 평균 신호값(MPV, mean pixel value)과 표준편차(SD, standard deviation)를 이용하였다. 관전류 변화에 대한 조영제 농도별 희석률에서 관전류 (146 mA)과 관전류 (102 mA)의 SNR과 CNR 비교결과, SNR과 CNR 모두 CM : N/S 희석률 (100% ~ 30% : 70%) 구간까지 변동계수 값이 10 이하로 작게 나타났으나, CM : N/S 희석률 (20% : 80%~ 10% : 90%) 구간에서는 변동계수 값이 10 이상으로 나타났다. SOD 변화에 대한 조영제 농도별 희석률에서 SOD (32.5 cm)과 SOD (22.5cm)의 SNR과 CNR 비교 결과, SNR과 CNR 모두 CM : N/S 희석률 (100% ~ 30% : 70%) 구간까지 변동계수 값이 10 이하로 작게 나타났으나, CM : N/S 희석률 (20% : 80%~ 10% : 90%) 구간에서는 변동계수 값이 10 이상으로 나타났다. SOD 변화에 대한 조영제 농도별 희석률에서 SOD (32.5 cm)과 SOD (12.5cm)의 SNR과 CNR 비교 결과, SNR과 CNR 모두 CM : N/S 희석률 (100% ~ 30% : 70%) 구간까지 변동계수 값이 10 이하로 작게 나타났다. 그러나 CM : N/S 희석률 (20% : 80%~ 10% : 90%) 구간에서는 변동계수 값이 10 이상으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 인터벤션에서 하지 말초혈관조영술을 포함한 다른 검사나 시술에서 낮은 관전류 값을 설정하고, 테이블은 영상수상기에 최대한 가깝게 하여, 조영제 농도(300)을 CM : N/S 희석률 (30% : 70%)로 사용하는 것이 신장에 대한 부담과 피폭에 대한 부담을 동시에 줄이면서 적정 농도의 영상을 얻을 수 있는 가장 효율적인 방법으로 제시한다.
