Biological Nitrogen and Phosphorus Removal Characteristics on Organic Material and Nitrate Loadings in SBR Process (연속회분식반응조에서 유기물 부하와 질산염농도에 따른 생물학적 질소 및 인 제거 특성)

  • Since anaerobic/anoxic/oxic process, which is a typical mainstream biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal process, utilizes influent organic matter as an external carbon source for phosphorus release in anaerobic or anoxic stage, influent COD/T-P ratio gives a strong influence on performance of phosphorus removal process. In this study, a bench scale experiment was carried out for SBR process to investigate nitrogen and phosphorus removal at various influent COD/T-P ratio and nitrate loadings of 23~73 and 1.6~14.3g $NO_3{^-}-N/kg$ MLSS, respectively. The phosphorus release and excess uptake in anoxic condition were very active at influent COD/T-P ratios of 44 and 73. However, its release and uptake was not obviously observed at COD/T-P ratio of 23. Consequently, phosphorus removal efficiency was decreased. In addition, the phosphorus release and uptake rate in anoxic condition increased as the nitrate loading decreased. Specific denitrification rate had significantly high correlation with organic materials and nitrate loadings of the anoxic phase too. The rate of phosphorus release and uptake in the anoxic condition were $0.08{\sim}0.94kg\;S-P/kg\;MLSS{\cdot}d$ and $0.012{\sim}0.1kg\;S-P/kg\;MLSS{\cdot}d$, respectively.

Degradation and Removal of Nonylphenol Ethoxylates in Wastewater by a Sequencing Batch Reactor Process (연속회분식 반응조 공정에서 하수 중의 nonylphenol ethoxylates의 분해 및 제거)

  • A sequencing batch reactor (SBR) was operated to investigate the degradation and removal of non-ionic surfactant, nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEOs) in wastewater using lab scale experimental apparatus. About 5mg/L of NPEO was introduced and only < 0.1mg/L of NPEOs and nonylphenol(NP) in total was detected in treated effluent. In the effluent, long chain ethoxylates (NPEO12-15) were not detected, but short chain ethoxylates (NPEO1,2) were in relatively high concentration. NPEOs in the mixed liquor disappeared more rapidly in anaerobic condition than in aerobic condition.

Mechanical Properties of Cement Mortar with Polymers (폴리머 모르타르의 기계적 특성)

  • A polymer reinforced grouts using ordinary portland cement mortar and water soluble polymer{polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), styrene-butadiene rubbre(SBR), etylene-vinyl acetate copolymer(EVA)} were made. The mechanical properties of the hardened specimens were investigated through the observation of the microstructure and application of fracture mechanics. When the PVA, SBR and EVA was added with 1.5 wt% to the grouts, the compressive strength were about 54 MPa, 63 MPa and 68 MPa respectively, and the flexural strength was about 11 MPa, 12.8 MPa, and 13.6 MPa respectively, and Young's modulus was about 3.8 GPa, 4.4 GPa and 4.6 GPa respectively, and critical stress intensity was about 0.73 MNm-1.5, 0.85 MNm-1.5 and 0.9 MNm-1.5 respectively. It can be considered that the strength improvement of polymer mortar grouts may be due to the removal of macropores and the increase of various fracture toughness effects, such as grain bridging, frictional interlocking and polymer bridging.

  • 축산폐수는 축사가 대부분 상수원보다 상류지역에 산재하고 있어 이를 효과적으로 관리하기 어려우나, 연속 회분식 반응기(Sequencing Batch Reactor, SBR)는 장치가 간단하고 경제성이 우수하여 축산폐수처리에서 효율적으로 적용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 DO(Dissolved Oxygen)과 ORP(Oxidation-Reduction Potential)을 이용하여 지식기반 고장진단 시스템을 제안하였다. 실시간으로 얻어진 ORP, DO값들을 전처리하여, [ORP], [DO]외에 [ORP DO]합성data와 ORP, DO의 특징백터의 합에서 얻어진 fusion data의 총 4개의 data set을 이용하여 각각에 대한 진단과 분류성능을 검토하였다. 이 값을 이용하여 FCM (fuzzy C-mean) 클러스터링 한 후, K-PCA과 LDA로 차원축소시켜 특징백터를 추출하였다. 그리고 Hamming distance로 test data와 특징백터의 거리를 계산하여 각 class를 F1에서 F8까지 분류하였다. 그 결과 데이터를 그대로 이용하는 것 보다 차분데이터형태로 이용하는 것이 우수했으며 그 중 fusion 데이터의 결과가 다른 것들보다 향상된 결과를 보였다. 그리고 K-PCA와 LDA를 결합한 결과가 다른 방법에 비해 우수한 결과를 보였으며 fusion method를 이용한 최고인식율은 98.02%를 나타내었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 전화선 채널을 통하여 수집된 음성 데이터에 포함된 잡음 및 채널 왜곡을 제거하여 음성인식 시스템의 성능을 향상시키는 방법에 관하여 연구하였다. 전 화선을 통과한 음성에 포함된 채널 잡음 및 왜곡을 제거하는 방법으로는 음성신호를 보상하 는 방법으로 CMS(Cepstral Mean Subtraction), SBR(Signal Bias Removal)과 SM(Stochastic Matching)의 성능을 비교 평가하였다. 잡음제거 방식의 성능을 평가를 위하 여 음소 단위의 반연속 HMM을 이용한 화자독립 단독음 인식을 수행하였다. 인식 실험 결 과, 멜 켑스트럼을 사용한 경우에 CMS가 가장 우수한 성능을 내었고 다음으로 SM과 SBR 순으로 나타났다. 또한 특징벡터를 주변 잡음에 강인하게 하는 가중함수(RPS, BPL)를 사용 한 켑스트럼 계수와 잡음제거 방식을 함께 사용한 경우에 인식 성능이 더욱 향상되었다.

Bio-kinetic and Design Analysis of a Sequencing Batch Reactor by Aerobic Granular Sludge (호기성 입상화 슬러지를 이용한 SBR 운전의 동력학적 해석 및 설계분석)

  • In the present work, the aerobic particle's characteristics were enhanced. A polymer was used to make aerobic granular sludge in short period of time. And operation parameters were calculated for organic matter removal in domestic wastewater using a sequencing batch reactor (SBR). The experiment for sewage (Influent concentration of 63~72 mg COD/L) by using mature aerobic granular sludge showed the organic matter removal rate k and oxygen utilization coefficient a', b' were $10.161d^{-1}$ and 0.87 mg $O_2/mg$ $COD_r$, 0.11 mg $O_2/mg$ MLVSS d respectively. Therefore, it was more effective than K value $5{\sim}8d^{-1}$ of conventional activated sludge process. The sludge synthetic value and sludge auto-oxydation value were 0.45 mg VSS/mg $COD_r$ and 0.05 mg VSS/mg MLVSS d respectively. Consequently, mortality rates of microorganisms was lower than conventional activated sludge process.

  • Polystyrene and polystyrene blended with SBR were subjected to the mechanical degradation by roll mastication. The results obtained are as follows. 1. For the polystyrene which is blended with SBR, the overall shape of the molecular weight distribution curve moves from the higher molecular weight portion to the lower molecular weight portion, becomes narrower in breadth, and its peak becomes higher as the degradation proceeds. The final molecular weight distribution exhibits a relative uniformity. This is due to the fact that only the polymer molecules with the high molecular weight consisted in original polystyrene are degraded mechanically and produced the polymer molecules with the low molecular weight. 2. The scission number of polystyrene chains increases with mastication time, and the number of degraded polymer chains produced when the polymer is masticated for 100 minutes at 140, 150 and $160^{\circ}C$ are $2.36{\times}10^{20},\;1.76{\times}10^{20}\;and\;1.52{\times}10^{20}$, respectively. 3. The rate of the degradation of polystyrene decreases with the mastication temperature. The activation energy is found to have the negative value, -8.7 kcal/mole. Therefore it is indicated that the mechanical degradation is a chemical process of which the activation energy is supplied mechanically.

A Study on the Biological Treatment of RO Concentrate Using Aerobic Granular Sludge (호기성 그래뉼 슬러지를 이용한 RO 농축수의 생물학적 처리에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to efficiently improve biological sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system of high-concentrated nitrate nitrogen in reverse osmosis (RO) concentrates by total dissolved solids (TDS) regulation. Since a laboratory-scale SBR system had been operated, we had analyzed specific denitrification rate (SDNR) and specific oxygen uptake rate (SOUR) for microbial activity in according to various injection concentration of TDS. As a result, higher injection concentration of TDS decreased SDNR, and delayed denitrification within denitrification process. Moreover, the higher injection concentration of TDS was, the lower microbial activity was during operation of laboratory-scale SBR system. Therefore, the regulation of TDS injection concentration is necessary to improve efficiency of nitrate nitrogen in the biological SBR system, and treatment of calcium ion ($Ca^{2+}$) is also specifically focused to remove nitrate nitrogen. Moreover, analytical data of SDNR and SOUR can be the effective kinetic design parameters to application of biological treatment of RO concentrate by aerobic granular sludge (AGS).

Development of self-sealing waterproof materials using GRT powder (폐타이어 분말을 이용한 자체보수성 방수재 개발)

  • Four sheet-shaped and one soft-shaped self-sealing waterproof materials were prepared to recycle some GRT(Ground Rubber Tires). Their physical properties were tested to consider characteristics of them. The self-sealing waterproof materials were consisted of GRT/super absorbent polymer(SAP)/binder and mold by a hot press after mixing with a batch-typed internal mixer. The average size of GRT particles was -40 mesh, SAPs were commercial GE-500F and poly(AM-SAS-AA) prepared in this work. Binders were PU. EVA, LDPE, SBR, and poly(2-EHA). And PU film was attached to improve the properties of waterproof materials. Characteristics of self-sealing waterproof materials consisted of by GRT/GE-500F/EV-600/PU film and GRT/GE-500F/SBR(vulcanization)/PU film among the developed self-sealing waterproof materials were similar to the commercial products. And properties of the soft-shaped self-sealing waterproof materials consisted of by GRT/GE-500F/Po1y(2-EHA) and CRT/Poly(AM-SAS-AA)/poly(2-EHA) were improved within from four times to twenty times compared to the one oi the commercial products.

Application of Cyber Physical System (CPS) for Risk Management of a CO2 Storage Site (이산화탄소 저장부지 위해성 관리를 위한 가상물리시스템 적용성 평가)

  • In the present study, adaptability of cyber-physical system (CPS) for risk management of $CO_2$ storage site is examined and the subagging regression (SBR) method is proposed as a key component of the cyber-twin to estimate the risk due to potential $CO_2$ leakage. For these purposes, $CO_2$ concentration data monitored from a controlled $CO_2$ release field experiment is employed to validate the potentialities of the SBR method. From the validation study, it is found that the SBR method has robust estimation capability by showing minimal influence from anomalous measurements, and makes stable and sound predictions for the forthcoming $CO_2$ concentration trend. In addition, the method is found to be well suited as a tool of operational risk assessment based on real-time monitoring data due to the computational efficiency. The overall results suggest that the SBR method has potential to be an important component comprising the cyber twin of CPS for risk management of $CO_2$ storage site.
