  • In this paper, We determine the expected travel time for several forks Storage/Retrieval machine which is allowed multiple stops in aisle. When throughput is increased, We propose adding to fork number of each S/R machine rather than adding to number of S/R machine, We also describe such a model which determines the optimal number of each several forks S/R machine subject to constraints on the hourly throughput and warehouse dimensions. Numerical example is presented to compare warehouse shapes against each single fork, twin forks, triple forks S/R machine for various throughput values.

  • The rapid development of IT and Science & Technology has greatly influenced the aspect of future warfare. Accordingly, the Army Forces require efficient logistics support, hence the importance of AS/RS has steadily increased. This research validated mathematical propriety of the management problem of S/R machine in AS/RS with mathematical analysis based on its travel time and simulation analysis using Automod. After all, we could improve the performance of S/R machine based on its dwell point and turn-over distribution.

  • The objective of this study is mainly related to design aspects of Multi-aisle S/R machine system (MASS) which can substantially reduce high initial investment cost of Automated Storage/Retrieval System. Firstly, the average travel time of the S/R machine is determined under single and dual commands, from which the average performance of S/R machine is evaluated. Secondly, a design model is developed and the system parameters, such as length and height of the system, and the number of S/R machines, traversers and aisles are determined which provide minimum initial investment and operating costs. Also, through experiments, sensitivity analysis is made for the throughput and storage volume.

  • This paper deals with storage and retrieval policies for S/R machine with capacity constraints in Man-On-Board AS/RS. It is assumed that storage sequence is based on SFC(spacefilling curve) routine and that storage layout is dedicated by storage policies. We present several heuristic algorithms for storage and retrieval policies which minimize total distance travelled by the S/R machine. These algorithms are based on COI, group COI, frequency of order, similarity between items and capacity of S/R machine. Experimental results of 24 combinastorial policies are provided to illustrate the performance of the heuristics under various rack utilization ratios. In storage policies, the results show that algorithms considering both similarity and frequency are better than those with COI as rack utilization is increasing. And algorithm using group COI is superior to others. In retrieval policies, the method with revision expression is shown to be better than others.

  • An AS/RS construction cost minimization model under throughput rate requirement constraint has been developed, whose objective function includes S/R machine cost, storage rack cost, and interrace conveyor cost. S/R machine cost is a function of the storage rack height, the unit load weight, and the control logic used by the system, while storage rack cost is a function of the storage rack height, the weight and the volume of the unit load. Since the model is a nonlinear integer programming problem which is very hard to solve exactly with large problem size, a solution procedure is developed to determine the height and the length of the storage rack with a fixed number of S/R machines, while increasing the number of S/R machines one by one to meet the throughput rate requirement.

  • Data analysis methodology in the healthcare field is shifting from traditional statistics-oriented research methods to predictive research using machine learning. In this study, we survey various machine learning tools, and compare several programming models, which utilize R and Spark, for applying R, a statistical tool widely used in the health care field, to machine learning. In addition, we compare the performance of linear regression model using scala, which is the basic languages of Spark and R. As a result of the experiment, the learning execution time when using SparkR increased by 10 to 20% compared to Scala. Considering the presented performance degradation, SparkR's distributed processing was confirmed as useful in R as the traditional statistical analysis tool that could be used as it is.

  • The vibrations and noise origin in electric material is due to several coupled physical phenomena. The revolving electric machine complete modeling is complex; it does not allow simple parametric machine structure studies for various operation modes. This work presents a simple electromagnetic model which makes possible the machine principal parts flow estimation from flux density. Special interest is given in determining Switched Reluctance Machine (S.R.M) radial acceleration in accordance with the current supply. Our focus will be only on the magnetic origin efforts that are dominating in the S.R.M. The efforts calculation versus the current is presented in the case of a machine with a linearized rate. These efforts are considered as a tangential force producing the torque and a radial force that generates no torque. The application is realized on a 6/4 low power S.R.M type (6 stator teeth and 4 teeth rotor). The mechanical response is substituted in a transfer function. The model takes account of the power supply of the machine, the relation between the current supply and the efforts as well as the vibratory response of the machine to these efforts. Finally, the model is validated by comparison with similar experimental results within the framework of the definite assumptions.

  • This paper deals with a Direct-Input-Output Manufacturing System (DIOMS) which has a number of machine centers placed along a built-in automated storage/retrieval system (AS/RS). During its operations, the storage/retrieval(S/R) machine picks up a pallet from the pickup/deposit port of a machine center and then moves it either to an empty rack opening of the AS/RS for temporary storage or to place it on the port of another machine center for subsequent operation. The machine layout problem in DIOMS is formulated as an integer mathematical programming whose objective is to minimize the total expected distance of the loaded S/R machine during a production period. Recognizing the limit of the exact solution procedure(the Branch and Bound method), two improvement-type heuristics are proposed. One is based on the simulated annealing method and the other the pairwise interchange method. The validity of the heuristics is examined with example problems.
