The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting residential mobility between urban and rural. After classifying urban and rural region based on discriminatory attributes of the regions, we applied a multinomial logistic model, using the sample data of 2020 Korea Population and Housing Census. The major findings are as follows. The young highly educated in cities avoided rural. The young less educated in rural engaged in 2, 3th industries as well as agricultural industry, but remained in low-paying and unstable jobs. In addition, various classes moved to rural and rising house prices in cities pushed people to rural. Therefore, it is necessary to develop diversified regional industry models and provide opportunities for high quality and stable jobs in rural by linking industrial demand, education and jobs. Also, preserving the rural environment, settlement conditions and residential environment are needed for satisfying various needs of urban residents who migrate to rural areas. While regional policies so far have focused on maintaining the population size and promoting a population influx, rural development and population policies should be established in a way that responds to diverse population classes in an era of population decline.
The purpose of this study is to provide necessary information for the establishment of remodeling range needed first to support the future remodeling of rural housing. For this, this study examined landscape characteristics of rural housing such as an outer wall, a roof, a fence, and a gate which are main elements of forming the landscape of a rural village and rural residents' perception for remodeling. The results were as follows. The subject rural housing mostly had a timber structure and a masonry structure. Common roof types were a hip-and-gable roof and a gable roof. Frequent materials were a panel, a tile, and slate and common colors were primary colors such as reddish brown, black, and gray. A fence made of cement blocks and finished by a white paint was often found. A closed gate with iron frames was common. A standup kitchen and a flush toilet inside the house were common. The family members of rural residents were mostly two including a farmer husband and his wife. Elderly people of sixty and over were the most common. For residential environment satisfaction, a half of respondents were not unsatisfied with residential environment mostly due to an old house. Most respondents who were not satisfied with residential environment had high perception for the need of remodeling. The most commonly asked remodeling part was a roof, followed by a toilet, and an outer wall, indicating that the need of exterior remodeling was higher than that of interior remodeling. For a remodeling method, a total improvement was preferred. Although some rural village housing was improved by support of the government, local governments, or social groups, there are still many old houses. As this co-existence of improved houses and old houses hinders the landscape of rural village, it is necessary to give a support. But rural residents' requests should be first actively reflected to establish a guideline of supporting rural house remodeling.
The study analyzed the frequency of simultaneous occurrence of keywords presented in a total of 805 papers published in domestic journals from 1995 to 2019 by social network analysis(SNS) method, and examined core keywords of each period(5 years), in order to understand the research trends of the rural residential environment. The main results are as follows. First, as a result of the analysis of centrality, 'Community', 'Tourism' and 'Comprehensive Rural Village Development Project' were the top 3 keywords. Second, examined by each period, the top keywords are 'Eco Friendly' in 2000~2004, 'Tourism' in 2005~2009 and 2010~2014, 'Community' in 2015~2019. Third, comparing the structural characteristics of core keywords 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period, a network centering on 'Tourism' was clearly formed in the 2nd period. 'Tourism' was divided into 'Community' and a movement to form a separate group appeared in the 3rd period. In the 4th period, 'Community' was found to form a network without direct connection with 'Tourism'. The results of this study suggest the trend change of viewpoint for the rural area in the domestic research on rural residential environment. It has been confirmed that while the research had been carried out with the viewpoint of rural area as a 'tourist attraction' or 'sightseeing spot' for the urban citizens until the mid-2010s, in the research of late 2010s the viewpoint has settled down as a 'residential space' or 'space for new economic activities' of a variety of rural residents.

Second, it is recomended that the image of a rural village needs to be created by developing the residential unit(6 households) as a planning development unit, And various residential unit models need to be suggested. Third, it is desirable to develop the double circulation system and green edge(1 m), and to introduce pedestrian road as much as possible for the amenity of the residential environment, Fourth, being located within walking distance from the existing village, new-introduced site should be developed as a interlinked and opened structure. This study is about the research of living environment in residential areas created by the land readjustment projects in the modern era, and recently lifted from Residential Environment Improvement district at the same time. The five criteria for evaluating the residential area are safety, health, convenience, comfort, and sustainability. The level of resident satisfaction in general is as follows. [completely dissatisfy as 5.30%, dissatisfy as 16.29%, neutral as 49.62%, satisfy as 16.29% and completely satisfy as 6.82%]. The results of the five survey items on the residential areas show that residents are aware of the area not as an old residential area to be demolished, but as a comparatively excellent residential area, namely very different results from the designation criteria of the redevelopment area designated by the Urban and Residential Environment Improvement Act. If the road conditions and the deterioration of the buildings are judged to be designated as the redevelopment area and to be removed these settlements, the residential areas with social sustainability could demolished. Based on this study, it is necessary to conduct the research to find out the reason for deriving the results of each evaluation item in the succeeding study. These studies are needed to rediscover, to develop and manage the value of many old residential areas scattered in the city centers of local areas.
The objective of this research was to analyze the determinants of demand for residential settlements in rural societies. A significant aspect of the demand analysis was to consider depopulation classification as a moderating variable with a view to its role as an essential dividing factor of socioeconomic characteristics and physical environments of the areas of concern. The data collection for analysis was divided according to types of depopulation into the three categories of less developed, stagnated, and developed areas. For the cause and effect analysis between the residential demand and factors of settlement, the ordered probit model was applied. Significant determinants of settlement demand unfolded according to depopulation types. In the case of less developed areas, residential demand was affected significantly by the factors of daily life convenience and public facilities. Key settlement demand determinants of stagnated regions included the aspects of basic natural environment, daily life convenience and education. Meanwhile, key settlement demand determinants for developed areas included education and agriculture economic aspects. The importance-performance analysis was also applied to a set of settlement characteristics of rural communities to figure out the settlement factors requiring urgent endeavor to improve.
