SiC 세라믹 하니컴 담체의 탄성 물성치 평가 (Estimation on Elastic Properties of SiC Ceramic Honeycomb Substrate)

  • 가솔린 엔진 차량용 삼원촉매담체는 주로 코제라이트 세라믹으로 제작되는 다공성 부품으로 엔진의 혼합기가 농후한 경우 삼원촉매의 열적 내구성이 급격히 떨어져 설계 내구 수명을 제대로 만족시키지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 SiC 세라믹 촉매 담체의 내구성 평가에 사용할 기계적 물성치를 유한요소해석으로 구하기 위하여 등가물성평가방법을 이용하여 SiC 세라믹 하니컴 담체의 기계적 물성치를 유한요소해석용 시험편으로 구하였다. MOR과 탄성계수는 코제라이트 세라믹 하니컴 담체에 비하여 SiC 세라믹 하니컴 담체가 최소 2배와 9.3배 정도 크게 평가되고 있어 SiC 세라믹 하니컴 담체는 코제라이트 세라믹 하니컴 담체에 비하여 높은 구조 강도를 가지고 있다.

Coronary-Bronchial Artery Fistula Manifested by Hemoptysis and Myocardial Ischemia in a Patient with Bronchiectasis

  • A coronary-bronchial artery fistula is a very rare congenital anomaly of the coronary artery whose etiology and pathogenesis have not yet been clarified. Most patients with coronary-bronchial fistulas are asymptomatic; however, some patients present with congestive heart failure, infective endocarditis, myocardial ischemia induced by a coronary steal phenomenon, or rupture of an aneurysmal fistula. Furthermore, patients with a coronary-bronchial artery fistula rarely manifest life-threatening hemoptysis due to the associated bronchiectasis. We report herein the case of a patient with a coronary-bronchial artery fistula who had bronchiectasis and a history of massive hemoptysis and myocardial ischemia.

  • The creep constants which are used to the reference stress equations of creep damage were obtained to type 316LN stainless steel, and their determining methods were described in detail. Typical Kachanov and Rabotnov(K-R) creep damage model was modified into the damage equations with reference stress concepts, and the modified equations were applied practically to type 316LN stainless steel. In order to determine the reference stress value, a series of high-temperature tensile tests and creep tests were accomplished at $550^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$. By using the experimental creep data, the creep constants used in reference stress equations could be obtained to type 316LN stainless steel, and a creep curve on rupture strain was predicted. The reference stress concept on creep damage can be utilized easily as a design tool to predict creep life because the process, which is quantified by the measurement of voids or micro cracks during creep, is omitted.

고온 수명평가를 위한 수정 크립-피로 손상모델의 걔발 (Development of Modified Creep-Fatigue Damage Model for High Temperature Life Prediction)

  • For mechanical system operating at high temperature, damage due to the interaction effect of creep and fatigue plays an important role. The objective of this paper is to develop a modified creep-fatigue damage model which separately analyzes the pure creep damage for hold time and the creep-fatigue interaction damage during startup and shutdown period. The creep damage was calculated by the general creep damage equation and the creep-fatigue interaction damage was calculated by the modified equation which is based on the frequency modified strain range method with strain rate term. In order to verify the proposed model, a service of high temperature low cycle fatigue tests were performed. The test specimens were made from inconel-718 superalloy and the test parameters were wave shape and hold time. A good agreement between the predicted lives based on the proposed model and experimentally obtained ones was observed.

몽크만·그랜트관계에 기초한 소형펀치 크리프시험 데이터와 일축 크리프시험 데이터의 관계 (Relationship Between Small-punch Creep Test Data and Uniaxial Creep Test Data based on the Monkman-Grant Relation)

  • The relationship between the small-punch creep test and the conventional creep test was investigated experimentally using a method similar to that of the Monkman-Grant relationship. Uniaxial and small-punch creep rupture tests were carried out on 9Cr-2W ferritic steel (Commercial Grade 92 steel: X10CrWMoVNb 9-2) at elevated temperatures. From the relation derived in the same manner as the Monkman-Grant relation, a correlation between the displacement rate in response to the small-punch creep test and the strain rate in the uniaxial creep test was found, and the creep life was calculated using this relation. Furthermore, the failure modes of the small punch creep test specimens were investigated to show that the fracture was caused by creep.

Analysis of Lethality in Echinococcal Disease

  • The information on mortality from echinococcosis is important not only for a better understanding of the severity of the disease, but also for evaluating the effectiveness of public health interventions. The aim of this research was to study the causes of mortality from echinococcosis. We have collected and analyzed the materials of 1,470 patients in 10 age - groups in the Republic of Armenia (from 2000 to 2016). To find out the causes of mortality from echinococcosis, we have analyzed the medical histories and protocols of postmortem examinations of 19 deaths from echinococcosis and 17 deaths due to other indirect causes not associated with the parasite. The average annual death rate from echinococcosis is 0.007 per 10,000 population, and the mortality is 1.29 (per 100 patients). The highest mortality occurs in people aged 70-79. Mortality from echinococcosis is also recorded among the unoperated children. The rupture of the parasitic cyst and hepatic insufficiency are major among the direct causes of mortality. Sometimes the hydatid cysts unrecognized during the life were first diagnosed at autopsy. Insufficient qualification of doctors in the field of helminthology, as well as the latent course of the disease or manifestation of minor symptoms in echinococcosis over a long period often led to medical errors. Further decline in mortality can be achieved by early diagnosis, timely hospitalization and treatment before the development of severe complications worsening the prognosis and outcomes of surgical intervention.

  • 임신시에 발생한 폐동정맥기형은 드문 질환으로 유전성 출혈성 모세혈관확장증과 같이 유전적으로 동반되어 나타날 수 있는 질환이다. 저자들은 임신시에 발생한 호흡곤란과 흉부방사선촬영상의 종괴를 주소로 내원한 환자에서 발견된 폐동정맥기형 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

Upward Migration of Distal Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Catheter into the Heart : Case Report

  • Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt is commonly and effectively used to treat hydrocephalus. Intracardiac migration of the shunt catheter is a rare complication. A 68-year-old woman underwent ventriculoperitoneal shunting for hydrocephalus secondary to subarachnoid hemorrhage due to anterior communicating artery aneurysm rupture. Two weeks after the shunt surgery, she had suffered from the abdominal pain. Plain chest x-rays, computed tomography, and echocardiography revealed the distal catheter which was in the right ventricle of the heart. We tried to remove the catheter through the internal jugular vein by fluoroscopic guidance. But, the distal catheter was kinked and knotted; therefore, we failed to withdraw the catheter. After then, we punctured the right femoral vein and pulled down the multi-knotted shunt catheter to the femoral vein using the snare catheter. Finally, we removed the knotted distal catheter via the femoral vein and a new distal catheter was placed into the peritoneal cavity. We report a case in which the distal catheter of the VP shunt migrated into the heart via the internal jugular vein. We emphasize the importance of careful and proper placement of the distal catheter during the tunneling procedure to prevent life-threatening complications.

인조고막용 키토산 패치 지지체의 생체역학적 특성 및 독성 평가 (Biomechanical Properties and Cytotoxicity of Chitosan Patch Scaffold for Artificial Eardrum)

  • The objectives of this study were to prepare a new artificial eardrum patch using water-insoluble chitosan for healing the tympanic membrane perforations and to investigate biomechanical properties and cyotoxicity of the chitosan patch scaffold (CPS). Tensile strength and elongation at the rupture point of CPSs were 2.49-74.05 MPa and 0.11-107.06%, respectively. As the biomechanical properties or CPSs varied with the concentration of chitosan and glycerol, the proper conditions for the CPS were found out. SEM analysis showed very smooth and uniform surface of CPSs without pores at x1000. The result of MTT test showed that CPSs had no cytotoxicity.

  • 자연 토양 및 Burkholderia cepacia를 접종한 멸균 토양에 PBSA film을 매립하여 PBSA의 생분해 특성을 조사하였다. 상온에서 80일간 매립 시험을 실시한 결과, 자연 토양에서는 PBSA film의 34.0%, B. cepacia를 접종한 멸균 토양에서는 59.2%의 질량 감소가 일어났으며 PBSA film의 표면 형태 변화도 B. cepacia를 접종한 멸균 토양에 매립한 경우가 자연 토양에 매립한 경우에 비하여 PBSA film 표면의 침식 및 균열이 더 빠르게 일어났다. PBSA film을 매립하였을 때 80일 후 자연 토양에서 세균수는 6~7배 증가한 반면 B. cepacia를 접종한 멸균 토양에서 개체수는 10~14배 증가하였다.
