침강에 의한 도시 강우 유출수 오염물질 저감 특성 분석 (Reduction of Pollutant Concentrations in Urban Stormwater Runoff by Settling)

  • 대전의 관평천에 설치된 1.8 m 높이의 침강 실험장치를 이용하여 총 4회에 걸쳐 강우 유출수를 채취하여 오염물질제거 효율 및 특성을 측정하였다. 오염물질 농도는 초기 4시간 동안 급격하게 감소하였으며 약 24시간 후 일정한 수준을 나타내는 경향을 보였다. 침전 실험 장치 내에서는 높이 별 농도가 크게 다르지 않은 것으로 관찰되었으며 이는 침전장치 내에서 대부분의 고형물질은 서로 방해하지 않고 독립적으로 침전하기 때문인 것으로 분석된다. 강우 유출수를 대상으로 분석한 입도는 $10{\sim}100{\mu}m$의 범위로 나타났다. 강우 유출수내에서 TP의 경우 입자성 물질이 평균 52.4%, TN의 경우 23.5%의 비율로 나타났으며 TN의 경우 침강에 의해 효율적으로 제거되기 어렵다는 것을 확인하여 주고 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 초기 강우 유출수에 포함되어 있는 TSS와 TP와 같은 오염물질이 단순한 침강에 의해 효과적으로의 제거될 수 있다는 것을 나타내고 있으며 하천수질을 보호하는데 적극적으로 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다.

소규모 침사구를 이용한 밭의 비점오염원 저감 효과 분석 (Analysis of Reduction of NPS Pollution loads using the small sediment trap at field)

  • Various Best Management Practices (BMPs) have been suggested to reduce Nonpoint source pollutant loads from agricultural fields. However, very little research regarding water quality improvement with sediment trap has been performed in Korea. Thus, effects of sediment trap were investigated in this study. Three sediment traps were installed at the edge of six plots and flow and water quality of inflow and outflow were monitored and analyzed. It was found that approximately 64.1 % of flow reduction was observed. In addition, pollutant concentration of outflow was reduced by 39.0 % for $BOD_5$. For SS, $COD_{Mn}$, DOC, T-N, T-P, approximately 62.1 %, 43.4 %, 43.5 %, 40.0 %, and 41.2 % reduction were observed, respectively. Over 80 % and 90 % of pollutant loads were reduced from sediment trap #2 and #3 because of less outflow from plots covered with rice straw/straw mat. In case of intensive rainfall events occurred from July 26~29, 2011, over 60 % of pollutant and 88.9 % of sediment reduction were observed from sediment trap #3. As shown in this study, small sediment traps could play important roles in reducing pollutant loads from agricultural fields. If proper management practices, such as rice straw/straw mat, are used to protect surface from rainfall impacts and rill formation, much pollutant reduction could be expected.

유역형상과 수리특성을 고려한 경험론적 유달부하식 개발 (Development of the Empirical Model for Estimating the Delivered Pollutant Loads Considering Geomorphic and Hydraulic Characteristics)

  • This study was conducted to develop a model equation to estimate the delivered point and nonpoint pollutant loads, which are critical factor to determine the water quality of watersheds. The model equation was developed by considering various factors such as biological removal and delivered distance of pollutants, basin shape and geomorphic runoff condition. The parameters for the model equation were estimated in 3 periods, which are October to March, April to June, and July to September. As a parameter, ${\alpha}_p$, ${\alpha}_n$, ${\beta}$, a and b for $BOD_5$-delivered pollutant loads were estimated to be 0.010~0.0155, 0.051, -0.033, 0.018~0.050 and 0.93, respectively. For T-N, ${\alpha}_p$, ${\alpha}_n$, ${\beta}$ a and b were estimated to be 0.0060~0.0140, 0.014, -0.02, 0.044~0.079 and 0.93, respectively. The same parameters for T-P were estimated to be 0.0160, 0.014, -0.0250, 0.015 and 1.21, respectively. The relationship, $E^2$ (Model efficiency), between observed and calculated delivered pollutant loads showed 0.65 for $BOD_5$, 0.81 for T-N, and 0.66 for T-P, respectively. Consequently, the model equation is effective to estimate delivered pollutant loads for TMDL.

AnnAGNPS 모형의 강우-유출해석력 평가 (Assessment of AnnAGNPS Model in Prediction of a Rainfall-Runoff Relationship)

  • 비점오염 발생은 강우에 의한 지표면 유출과 밀접한 관련이 있는 관계로 모형을 이용한 비점오염 해석은 먼저 유역의 강우-유출의 명확한 관계해석을 필수조건으로 한다. 본 연구는 비점오염 모의에 많이 사용되고 있는 AnnAGNPS 모형의 다양한 유역특성별 강우-유출해석능력을 평가해 보았다. 결과를 통해 AnnAGNPS 모형은 대유역 모의에 적합하며 소유역 및 강우에 대한 유역의 반응시간이 짧은 불투수층이 많은 유역에 적용하는 것은 적합하지 않은 것으로 드러났다. 특히, AnnAGNPS 모형은 모의에 사용하는 시간간격 이 일단위(daily basis)이므로 하루보다 짧은 지속시간의 복합첨두치(mutiple peak flow)를 가지는 강우사상을 표현하는 기능이 없으며 따라서 첨두유량 예측에 상당한 오차 발생의 원인으로 드러났다. 또한 유출해석에 사용되는 CN방법은 지역적인 특성에 맞게 구축된 CN정보가 없는 관계로 초기치 선택에 신중함이 요구되며, 강우의 분포형과 더불어 반드시 주요 검정대상으로 다루어져야 할 매개변수였다.

주암호유역 산림기원 비점오염원물질과 주암호에 서식하는 조류번식간의 상관성 규명 (A study on the correlation between non-point source pollutants from the forest of Juam basin and algae bloom in the Juam lake.)

  • In Juam basin, the ratio of non-point pollution source among pollutant loading of basin was significantly high, since the utilization level of land was high. In addition, the most pollutants were not treated and flowed out. In this study, the correlation between non-point source pollutants from the forest area and increasing algae was investigated. 1. Chl-a concentration flowed out to runoff from forest area and stream water was low as $0.1{\sim}20.3{\mu}g/{\ell}$ and $0.1{\sim}9.3{\mu}g/{\ell}$, respectively, and chl-a concentration ($0.1{\sim}28.5{\mu}g/{\ell}$) of branch stream was higher $5{\sim}7$ times than that of runoff from forest area. 2. In correlation between runoff from forest area and Juam lake water, annual chl-a concentration of area front Juam dam was higher twice than forest area. 3. In runoff from forest area within Juam basin, flagellate, green, diatom and blue algae occupied $33.0{\sim}41.7%$, $22.2{\sim}30.8%$, $17.3{\sim}22.5%$ and $13.7{\sim}17.6%$, respectively. 4. In runoff from forest area, both green and diatom algae were maintained constantly irrespectively of season, and flagellate algae dominated since August. 5. In characteristics by forest tree types, four types algae were inhabited in mixed forest, and flagellate algae were higher in conifer and broadleaf forest than in other area. And green algae in herbaceous forest were higher than other area.

고속도로 노면유출수의 중금속 유출 특성 및 상관성 (Washoff Characteristics of Metal Pollutants in Highways)

  • The paved areas in nonpoint source are highly polluted landuses because of high imperviousness and high pollutant mass emissions from vehicle activities. Particularly, the metal pollutants are a big issue in the paved area. It is usually washed-off during storms by adsorbing on sediments or soluble status. Therefore, this research was achieved for understanding the characteristics of metal pollutants in stormwater runoff in highways. Five monitoring sites were equipped with an automatic rainfall gage and an automatic flow meter. This manuscripts will summarize the washoff characteristics of metal pollutants and its concentration changes during storms. Usually first flush phenomenon was observed for all of the storm events and visibly confirmed with hydro- and polluto-graphs. Also it was coincided with the tendency of particulates and organic matters. The decrease rate per total reduced amount for metals during initial 30-min storm duration was obtained on 80%. The result may be able to use for determining the economical treatment criteria for stormwater runoff in highways.

AvSWAT를 이용한 농촌유역 비점원 오염물질 부하량 예측 (Estimation of Nonpoint Source Pollutant Loads for Rural Watershed by AvSWAT)

  • 유역관리모형은 유역내 비점원 오염부하를 예측하고, 서로 다른 오염원과 토지이용형태에 따른 영향을 판단하는데 사용 되어진다. 많은 모형들이 비점원오염의 예측이 가능하지만, 각기 서로 다른 한계를 갖고 있다. 모델의 선택의 연구목적과 축적된 가용자료에 부합해야 한다. 최근 한국에서는 SWAT모형이 농촌유역의 비점원오염 유출을 예측하기 위해서, 많이 이용되고 있다. 대부분의 자료들이 GIS를 이용하여 자동적으로 생성되지만, 일부 자료들은 농민들과 연구자들을 통해 직접 수집해야 한다. AvSWAT모형에 의해 시뮬레이션된 유량과 관측유출은 매우 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 그러나 유출은 경향은 주로 강우와 물부족기간에 의해 그 경향을 따라간다. AvSWAT 모형을 농촌유역에 적용하여 유출을 평가한 결과 모델치는 1023.3 mm이고, 관측치는 967.4 mm인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 수질의 경우 모델치와 관측치의 결정계수는 인이 질소보다 더 높은 값(0.79)을 보여주고 있었다.

강우로 인해 고속도로로부터 유출되는 폐기물의 성상, 부하량 및 유출 특성 (Loading Rates and Characteristics of Litter from Highway Stormwater Runoff)

  • Litter wastes on highway runoff are gradually being considered one of the major pollutants of concern in protecting the integrity of receiving waters for beneficial use. The California State Water Resources Control Board has identified in their 303(d) list at least 36 water bodies where trash or litter is considered a pollutant of concern. The first TMDL adopted by the Region 4 (Los Angeles area) of the California State Water Quality Control Board was for trash in the Los Angeles River. The first flush characteristic study was developed to obtain first flush water quality and litter data from representative stormwater runoff from standard highway drainage outfalls in the Los Angeles area. Total captured gross pollutants in stormwater runoff were monitored at six Southern California highway sites over two years. The gross pollutants were 90% vegetation and 10% litter. Approximately 50% of the litter was composed of biodegradable materials. The event mean concentrations show an increasing trend with antecedent dry days and a decreasing trend with total runoff volume or total rainfall. Event mean concentrations were ranged 0.0021 to 0.259g/L for wet gross pollutants and 0.0001 to 0.027g/L for wet litters. The first flush phenomenon was evaluated and the impacts of various parameters such as rainfall intensity, drainage area, peak flow rate, and antecedent dry period on litter volume and loading rates were evaluated. First flush phenomenon was generally observed for litter concentrations, but was not apparent with litter mass loading rates. Litter volume and loading rates appear to be directly related to peak storm intensity, antecedent dry days and total flow volume.

아스팔트 포장 고속도로의 강우 지속시간별 오염물질 유출 경향 (Characteristics of Pollutant Washed-off from Highways with Storm Runoff Duration)

  • 고속도로는 건조시 많은 차량의 운행으로 인하여 오염물질의 축적이 높고, 강우시 불투수율이 높아 다량의 강우유출 수가 발생하는 지역이다. 특히 고속도로에서 발생하는 중금속, 각종 독성물질 및 입자상 오염물질들은 유출시 생태계에 큰 영향을 끼치게 된다. 따라서 본 논문은 2005년 개정된 수질환경보전법 및 비점오염원 관리 지침에 의거하여 바람직한 친환경적 고속도로 건설 및 유지관리를 위한 기초자료 제공을 위하여 수행된 연구이다. 이러한 기초자료를 확보하기 위하여 국내 4개 고속도로 지역에서 강우시 모니터링이 수행되었으며, 그 결과를 본 논문에 정리하고자 한다. 건조시에 축적된 각종 오염물질들은 강우 시작과 함께 고속도로로부터 유출되게 되는데, 특히 강우 초기에 다량의 오염물질 유출이 발생하는 초기강우 현상을 모니터링을 통하여 확인하였다. 유출되는 오염물질의 95% 신뢰 범위를 살펴보면, TSS의 경우 154.7-257.1 mg/L, COD가 138.9-197.6 mg/L, oil & grease가 3.5-6.4 mg/L, TN이 6.3-9.2 mg/L 그리고 TP는 2.3-3.31 mg/L의 범위를 나타냈다. 대부분의 모니터링에서 초기강우 현상이 발생하였으며, 이러한 초기강우는 강우지속시간 30분 이내에 대부분 끝나는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 본 논문은 방대한 모니터링 자료를 통계 분석하여 그 결과를 정리였는데, 이는 향후 고속도로 오염물질 처리 및 저감 시설 설치시 중요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

주암호 농촌 소유역 오염부하특성 (Pollutant Load Characteristics of a Rural Watershed of Juam Lake)

  • A monitoring study has been conducted to identify hydrologic conditions, water quality and nutrient loading characteristics of small watershed in Juam Lake. Climate data of the watershed were collected; flow rate was measured and water quality sampling was conducted at the watershed outlet for this study. Water quality data revealed that T-P concentrations meet I grade of lake water quality standard during non-storm period, but degraded up to II-III grade of lake water quality standard during storm period. The observed T-N concentrations always exceeded lake water quality standard. Therefore, T-P was identified as limiting chemical constituent for eutrophication of Juam Lake. T-P concentration of non-storm period also revealed that point source pollution is not serious in the watershed. Three year monitoring results showed that the observed T-N losses were $10.85\~18.88$ kg/ha and T-P losses were $0.028\~0.323$ kg/ha during six month (Mar. - Oct.), respectively. Major portion of runoff amount discharged by a few storm events a year and nutrient load showed apparent seasonal variation. Huge runoff amounts were generated by intense storms, which make application of water treatment or detention facilities ineffective. Monitoring results confirmed that water quality improvement by abating nonpoint source pollution in rural watershed of monsoon climate should be focused on source control. T-P losses from paddy field seemed to consist of significant amount of total load from study watershed. Therefore, management of drainage from paddy field is considered to be important for preventing algal blooming problem in Juam Lake.
