  • Neuro-fuzzy systems are multi-layered connectionist networks that realize the elements and functions of traditional fuzzy logic control/decision systems. A trained neuro-fuzzy system is isomorphic to a fuzzy logic system, and fuzzy IF-THEN rule knowledge can be explicitly extracted from the network. This talk presents a brief introduction to self-adaptive neuro-fuzzy systems and addresses some recent research results and applications. Most of the existing neuro-fuzzy systems exhibit several major drawbacks that lead to performance degradation. These drawbacks are the curse of dimensionality (i.e., fuzzy rule explosion), inability to re-structure their internal nodes in a changing environment, and their lack of ability to extract knowledge from a given set of training data. This talk focuses on our investigation of network architectures, self-adaptation algorithms, and efficient learning algorithms that will enable existing neuro-fuzzy systems to self-adapt themselves in an unstructured and uncertain environment.

  • In this paper, we notice the fact that a human learning process is characterized by a process under a natural language environment, and discuss an approach of learning based on indirect linguistic instructions. An instruction is interpreted through some meaning elements and each trend. Fuzzy evaluation rule are constructed for the searched meaning elements of the given instruction, and the performance of a system to be learned is improved by the evaluation rules. In this paper, we propose a framework of learning based on indirect linguistic instruction based learning using fuzzy theory: FULLINS(FUzzy-Learning based on Linguistic IN-Struction). The validity of FULLINS is shown by applying it to helicopter flight control.

  • In this study, the uniaxial ratcheting effect of Z2CND18.12N austenitic stainless steel at room and elevated temperatures is firstly simulated based on the Ahmadzadeh-Varvani hardening rule (A-V model), which is embedded into the finite element software ABAQUS by writing the user material subroutine UMAT. The results show that the predicted results of A-V model are lower than the experimental data, and the A-V model is difficult to control ratcheting strain rate. In order to improve the predictive ability of the A-V model, the parameter γ2 of the A-V model is modified using the isotropic hardening criterion, and the extended A-V model is proposed. Comparing the predicted results of the above two models with the experimental data, it is shown that the prediction results of the extended A-V model are in good agreement with the experimental data.

  • In this study, it was developed and verified an application method of fuzzy-logic theory to the rating process of agricultural fill dam safety. A fuzzy-logic is very famous logical system when some decision making is made on the status of a lack of information. Three proxies were selected and configured membership functions (MFs) and these MFs were activated in the process of fuzzification procedures. Fuzzified vlaues were passed through the rule-based inference system, then fire strength could classified among cases of the rule-based inference system. To obtain final results, Mandani-type was adapted in the defuzzification process. As the results, it was shown the developed system can give a correct results that was compared with Matlab - fuzzy inference function. More ever it could perform the detailed analysis and improvement on the infrastructure safety rating process using classical diagnosis method.

  • This work focuses on the behavior of the static analysis of functionally graded plates materials (FGMs) with porosities that may possibly occur inside the functionally graded materials (FGMs) during their fabrication. For this purpose a new refined plate theory is used in this work, it contains only four unknowns, unlike five unknowns for other theories. This new model meets the nullity of the transverse shear stress at the upper and lower surfaces of the plate. The parabolic distribution of transverse shear stresses along the thickness of the plate is taken into account in this analysis; the material properties of the FGM plate vary a power law distribution in terms of volume fraction of the constituents. The rule of mixture is modified to describe and approximate material properties of the FG plates with porosity phases. The validity of this theory is studied by comparing some of the present results with other higher-order theories reported in the literature, the influence of material parameter, the volume fraction of porosity and the thickness ratio on the behavior mechanical P-FGM plate are represented by numerical examples.

  • A new approach has been proposed for the incremental analysis of the nonsteady state large deformation of planar anisotropic elastic-plastic sheet forming. A mathematical brief review of a constitutive law for the incremental deformation theory has been presented from flow theory using the minimum plastic work path for elastic-plastic material. Since the material embedded coordinate system(Lagrangian quantity) is used in the proposed theory the stress integration procedure is completely objective. A new return mapping algorithm has been also developed from the general midpoint rule so as to achieve numerically large strain increment by successive control of yield function residuals. Some numerical tests for the return mapping algorithm were performed using Barlat's six component anisotropic stress potential. Performance of the proposed algorithm was shown to be good and stable for a large strain increment, For planar anisotropic sheet forming updating algorithm of planar anisotropic axes has been newly proposed. In order to show the effectiveness and validity of the present formulation earing simulation for a cylindrical cup drawing and front fender stamping analysis are performed. From the results it has been shown that the present formulation can provide a good basis for analysis for analysis of elastic-plastic sheet metal forming processes.

  • Horizontal tunnel face reinforcement using Fiber Glass Tube(FGT) or steel pipe and pipe roofing techniques are frequently used when the stability of newly excavated tunnel is not guaranteed. However, the mechanical behavior of tunnels using these techniques has not been fully understood so far. Therefore, engineering rule of thumb is commonly applied during designing procedure, and it is difficult to adopt these techniques rationally. In this study, the application of a simplified numerical analysis method based on composite mechanics is verified. The mean field theory and the strain energy theory are used to obtain the equivalence elastic moduli of reinforced soil and rock. Furthermore, a parametric study on the deformational behavior of tunnel face is performed for various patterns of prereinforcement.

  • Watermark detection has a crucial role in copyright protection of and authentication for multimedia and has classically been tackled by means of correlation-based algorithms. Nevertheless, when watermark embedding does not obey an additive rule, correlation-based detection is not the optimum choice. So a new detection algorithm is proposed which is optimum for non-additive watermark embedding. By relying on statistical decision theory, the proposed method is derived according to the Bayes decision theory, Neyman-Pearson criterion, and distribution of wavelet coefficients, thus permitting to minimize the missed detection probability subject to a given false detection probability. The superiority of the proposed method has been tested from a robustness perspective. The results confirm the superiority of the proposed technique over classical correlation- based method.

  • The bending and buckling behaviours of FG-GRNC laminated sandwich plates are investigated by using novel five-variables quasi 3D higher order shear deformation plate theory by considering the modified continuum nonlocal strain gradient theory. To calculate the effective Young's modulus of the GRNC sandwich plate along the thickness direction, and Poisson's ratio and mass density, the modified Halpin-Tsai model and the rule of the mixture are employed. Based on a new field of displacement, governing equilibrium equations of the GRNC sandwich plate are solved using a developed approach of Galerkin method. A detailed parametric analysis is carried out to highlight the influences of length scale and material scale parameters, GPLs distribution pattern, the weight fraction of GPLs, geometry and size of GPLs, the geometry of the sandwich plate and the total number of layers on the stresses, deformation and critical buckling loads. Some details are studied exclusively for the first time, such as stresses and the nonlocality effect.

  • The aim of this work is to analyze and predict the wave propagation behavior of the carbon nanotube reinforced composites (CNTRC) beams within the framework of various higher order shear deformation beam theory. Using the Euler-Lagrange principle, the wave equations for CNTRC beams are derived, where the determining factor is to make the determinant equal to zero. Based on the eigenvalue method, the relationship between wave number and circular frequency is obtained. Furthermore, the phase and group velocities during wave propagation are obtained as a function of wave number, and the material properties of CNTRC beams are estimated by the mixture rule. In this paper, various higher order shear beam theory including Euler beam theory, Timoshenko beam theory and other beam theories are mainly adopted to analyze the wave propagation problem of the CNTRC beams, and by this way, we conduct a comparative analysis to verify the correctness of this paper. The mathematical model provided in this paper is verified numerically by comparing it with some existing results. We further investigate the effects of different enhancement modes of CNTs, volume fraction of CNTs, spring factor and other aspects on the wave propagation behaviors of the CNTRC beams.
