  • In this paper, the stress and deformation characteristics of the high pressure hose that have the hose components such as rubber, braid and steel( sleeve and nipple) during the manufacturing process, and analyzed using the [mite element method The swaging process is modeled with a contact problem in identical conditions of real circumstances, and the properties of hose materials based on the experimental data are used in this analysis. Also, to understand the effect of the nipple protrusions on the deformation characteristics of a power steering hose among the steel materials shape of the existing model, and changed the steel materials shape partially, and compared with the existing model.

  • This paper is focused on design of a new active control engine mount (ACM), which is compact in size and cost effective. The ACM, consisting of an electrodynamic actuator as the active element, flat springs and a sliding ball joint, is different in structure from the previous ACM designs based on the conventional hydraulic engine mount. Dynamic characteristics of the proposed ACM are extensively investigated before a prototype ACM, which meets the design specifications, is built in the laboratory. For cost effectiveness, a feed-forward control algorithm without a feedback sensor is used for reduction of the transmitted force through the ACM from the engine. The prototype ACM is then harmonic-tested with a rubber testing machine for verification of its control performance as well as adequacy of modeling. Experimental results show that the proposed ACM is capable of reducing the transmitted force by 20 dB up to the frequency range of 60 Hz.

  • Proper door effort, required force to open or close a vehicle door, is an essential door design factor for the safety of passengers and pedestrians. Section shape of the door checker arm is the most influential design parameter for achieving a door effort design target. In this research. an analysis procedure to predict door effort using a simplified plane strain finite element model wes investigated for two passenger cars, for which mechanism of checker systems were: different. The variation of checker arm force to be required during moving on arm in opening and closing direction was estimated through analysis, and the result was transformed to the door effort with respect to door opening angle by considering door characteristics. Also, the self·closing force due to door weight was theoretically calculated and added to the door effort from checker arm force. Finally the estimated results of door effort were compared with test results.

  • In this paper, dynamic track tension fur high mobility tracked vehicle is investigated by multibody dynamic simulation techniques. This research focuses on a heavy military tracked vehicle which has sophisticated suspension and rubber bushed rack systems. In order to obtain accurate dynamic track tension of track subsystems, each track link is modeled as a body which has six degrees of freedom. A compliant bushing element is used to connect track links. Various virtual proving ground models are developed to observe dynamic changes of the track tension. Numerical studies of the dynamic track tension are validated against the experimental measurements. The effects of pre-tensions, traction forces, fuming resistances, sprocket torques, ground profiles, and vehicle speeds, for dynamic responses of track tensions are explored, respectively.

  • Using the finite element method, the contact force, contact band width and temperature distribution of lip seals analyzed for the interference including some nonlinearities such as material nonlinearity, geometrical nonlinearity and nonlinear contact boundary condition. The calculated results showed that the contact stress concentrated on the contact zone between the garter spring and the rubber toward the flex side, the contact edge of lip seals. The high contact forces due to the increased interference separate the sealing gap between the lip edge and the rotating shaft. This may lead to leak the sealed oil.

  • As the public use part of the railway and the road, the railway crossing is important to work properly by two transportation means. Also, It is important to provide the good face of friction on the railway crossing in aspect of protecting the railway crossing accident. Lately, the material of railway crossing panel is the wood. the asphalt, and the steel. As they have a various fault, it was studied to analyze the structural action of the new material. rubber panel. This paper analyzed eigenvalue, stress and displacement by truck passing weight and thermal stress using the FEM model.

  • Ultrasonic Cutting which uses a tuned blade resonant in a longitudinal mode, has been used to cut a range of materials from confectionery, baked products and frozen foods, to wood, bone, foams and composites. The Blade design typically uses finite element analysis, and it could be predicted vibration mode, gain and amplitude uniformity of the blade tip at resonant frequency. In this paper, FEA used to predict the vibration characteristic of the blade, and then the results were verified by analysis system of resonant frequency using the processed blade. The crack of the blade which is predicted from FEA was compared with the crack occurred by cutting experiment of rubber materials using the processed blade.

  • ER mount is often used instead of rubber mount in cylindrical shell to improve the vibration and noise performanec. The noise radiated by cylindrical shell will be reduced by reducing the force transmitted to the cylindrical shell through ER mount. In this paper, LQ control theory is used to reduce the transmitted force to the cylindrical shell. The finite element method of cylindrical shell is formulated by NASTRAN and its vibrating shape is calculated in frequency domain. (omitted)

  • The study about a drainpipe of water closet was performed as reduction of drainage noise for water closet. The Drainage noise is composed two characteristics. One is Low frequency noise and the other is high frequency noise. Low frequency noise is dominant in the first stage and high frequency noise is dominant in the last stage. This is due to water splashing and that is caused by formation of chamber pot. In this experiment, for the purpose for reducing the noise, we choose the hollow rubber pipe element. As a result, we reduced drainage noise about 11㏈A.

  • It is mainly due to the toxic gases, produced from the material combustion, threatens human body in case of urban railway car like subway which passes through underground tunnel. In the field of railway industry, fire accidents was not frequent but occurs in each country and, the causes was investigated. The advanced country established the test standard (e.g., BS, EN) to measure the toxic gases quantitatively and, have applied to enhance the fire safety of railway car. We must also follow the procedures to use gangway material for railway car as stated the Safety regulation for the urban railway car. In this study, various gangway materials(silicon, synthtic rubber, soaltapulin) are used to investigate element of toxic gases when the fire occurs. The amount of toxic gases measured from the ISO 5659 chamber using cone heater was measured and compared the results for each materials.
