The Pt-Ru electrocatalyst was Prepared on Nafion membrane modified with Polypyrrole by chemical reduction of $H_2PtCI_6\;and\;RuCl_3$ solution ai precursor. From the electron dispersive microanalysis spectroscope(EDS), the Pt-Ru catalyst was located on the surface of Ppy/Nafion composite. The electrochemical oxidation of methanol on Pt-Ru catalyst deposited in Polypyrrole-impregnated Nafion was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry. The onset potential of methanol oxidation was shifted to negative potential as the $RuCI_3$ concentration in deposition solution. Also, it was known that the Pt-Ru binary catalyst on Nafion could be directly deposited by using Polypyrrole and resulting Pt-Ru/PPy/Nafion was available for methanol oxidation.
In this study, the effect of calcination temperature on the production of RuTi catalyst in NH3-SCO (selective catalytic oxidation) was investigated. The RuTi catalyst was prepared using the wet impregnation method, and calcined at 400~600 ℃ for 4 h in air condition. The catalysts were named RuTi x00 where x00 means the calcination temperature. According to XRD (X-Ray diffraction), TEM (transmission electron microscope), H2-TPR (H2-temperature programmed reduction) analyses, RuTi x00 catalysts displayed that the dispersion of active metal decreased via increasing the calcination temperature. The catalysts with low dispersion showed a decrease in the surface adsorption oxygen species (Oβ) and NH3 adsorption amount via XPS, and NH3-TPD analyses. Therefore, the RuTi 400 catalyst was well dispersed in the active metal on TiO2 surface, and also, the NH3 removal efficiency was excellent.
The volatile organic compounds(VOCs) have been recognized as a major contributor to air pollution. The catalytic oxidation is one of the most important processes for VOCs destruction due to getting high efficiency at low temperature. In this study, monometallic Pt and bimetallic Pt-Ru, Pt-Ir were supported to ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$. Xylene, toluene and MEK were used as reactants. The monometallic or bimetallic catalysts were prepared by the excess wetness impregnation method and were characterized by XRD, XPS, TEM and BET analysis. As a result, Pt-Ru, Pt-Ir bimetallic catalysts showed higher conversion than Pt monometallic catalyst. Pt-Ir bimetallic catalyst showed the highest conversion on the ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ support. In the VOCs oxidation, Pt-Ru, Pt-Ir bimetallic catalyst had multipoint active sites, so it improved the range of Pt metal state. Therefore, bimetallic catalysts showed higher conversion of VOCs than monometallic ones. In this study, the use of small amount of Ru, Ir to Pt promoted oxidation conversion of VOCs.

The characteristics of thermal-resistance catalyst for $N_2O$ propellant decomposition were studied in the present study. Si was added to the $Al_2O_3$ support to stabilize its surface area at high temperature (> $1000^{\circ}C$). Ru was used as a catalyst for $N_2O$ decomposition. The prepared catalysts were characterized using SEM, EDS and XRD analysis, and $N_2O$ conversion was measured as reaction temperatures. The Ru/$Al_2O_3$-Si catalyst showed better performance than Ru/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst.
This paper describes the electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of small biomolecules on the surface of Pt-Ru nanoparticles supported by $TiO_2$-hollow sphere prepared for use in sensor applications or fuel cells. The $TiO_2$-hollow sphere supports were first prepared by sol-gel reaction of titanium tetraisopropoxide with poly(styrene-co-vinylphenylboronic acid), PSB used as a template. Pt-Ru nanoparticles were then deposited by chemical reduction of the $Pt^{4+}$ and $Ru^{3+}$ ions onto $TiO_2$-hollow sphere ($Pt-Ru@TiO_2-H$). The prepared $Pt-Ru@TiO_2-H$ nanocomposites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and elemental analysis. The electrocatalytic efficiency of Pt-Ru nanoparticles was evaluated via ethanol, methanol, dopamine, ascorbic acid, formalin, and glucose oxidation. The cyclic voltammograms (CV) obtained during the oxidation studies revealed that the $Pt-Ru@TiO_2-H$ nanocomposites showed high electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of biomolecules. As a result, the prepared Pt-Ru catalysts doped onto $TiO_2$-H sphere nanocomposites supports can be used for non-enzymatic biosensor or fuel cell anode electrode.

Nano-sized PtRu-Ni/VC and PtRu-Sn/VC electrocatalysts were synthesized by a one-step radiation-induced reduction (RIR) (30 kGy) process using distilled water as the solvent and Vulcan XC-72 as the supporting material. The obtained electrocatalysts were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope energy dispersive spectroscopic (SEM-EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. The catalytic efficiency of electrocatalysts was examined for oxygen reduction, MeOH oxidation and CO stripping decreased in the following order, Hydrogen stripping : PtRu-Sn/VC > PtRu-Ni/VC > PtRu/VC$^{(R)}$ (E-TEK). MeOH oxidation : PtRu-Sn/VC > PtRu-Ni/VC > PtRu/ VC$^{(R)}$ (E-TEK). Unit cell performance : PtRu-Sn/VC > PtRu-Ni/VC > PtRu/VC$^{(R)}$ (E-TEK) catalysts.
Kraft lignin is a by-product of the pulp and paper industry, obtained as a black liquor after the extraction of cellulose from wood through the Kraft pulping process. Right now, kraft lignin is utilized as a low-grade boiler fuel to provide heat and power but can be converted into high-calorific biofuels or high-value chemicals once the efficient catalytic depolymerization process is developed. In this work, the multi-functional catalyst of Ru-Mg-Al-oxide, which contains hydrogenation metals, acid, and base sites for the effective depolymerization of kraft lignin are prepared, and its lignin depolymerization efficiency is evaluated. In order to understand the role of different active sites in the lignin depolymerization, the three different catalysts of MgO, Mg-Al-oxide, and Ru-Mg-Al-oxide were synthesized, and their lignin depolymerization activity was compared in terms of the yield and the average molecular weight of bio-oil, as well as the yield of phenolic monomers contained in the bio-oil. Among the catalysts tested, the Ru-Mg-Al-oxide catalyst exhibited the highest yield of bio-oil and phenolic monomers due to the synergy between active sites. Furthermore, in order to maximize the extent of lignin depolymerization over the Ru-Mg-Al-oxide, the effects of reaction conditions (i.e., temperature, time, and catalyst loading amount) on the lignin depolymerization were investigated. Overall, the highest bio-oil yield of 72% and the 3.5 times higher yield of phenolic monomers than that without a catalyst were successfully achieved at 350 ℃ and 10% catalyst loading after 4 h reaction time.
