This paper discusses methods for the torque ripple and noise reduction of DC motors for automotive air-conditioning based on electromagnetic field analysis. The target of the motor is a blower motor, and to reduce cogging torque and the torque ripple, the optimum model was selected by deforming the brush or commutator shape. In addition, to reduce the cogging torque, the model design was carried out by applying the skew method and the magnetization method of a magnet to the rotor. For optimization, the shape, material, and drive system of the motor were selected using an electromagnetic field as the analysis tool, and the method of reducing the cogging torque was applied to 4-pole, 12- and 13-slot motors considering the mechanical part. Lastly, this paper confirmed thatthemethod, which proposed how much noise, cogging torque, and vibration are reduced, improves through practical analysis.

This paper presents an implementation of high-dynamic performance of position sensorless motion control system of Reluctance Synchronous Motor(RSM) drives for an industrial servo system with direct torque control(DTC). The problems of high-dynamic performance and maximum efficiency RSM drives controlled by DTC are saturation of stator linkage flux and nonlinear inductance characteristics with various load currents. The accurate estimation of the stator flux and torque are obtained using stator flux observer of which a saturated inductance $L_d$ and $L_q$ can be compensated by adapting from measurable the modulus of the stator current and rotor position. To obtain fast torque response and maximum torque/current with varying load current, the reference command flux is ensured by imposing $I_{ds} = I_{qs}$. This control strategy is proposed to achieve fast response and optimal efficiency for RSM drive. In order to prove rightness of the suggested control algorithm, the actual experiment carried out at $\pm$20 and $\pm$1500 rpm. The developed digitally high-performance motion control system shown good response characteristic of control results and high performance features using 1.0kW RSM which has 2.57 Ld/Lq salient ratio.

This paper proposes a new sensorless speed control scheme of induction motor using Model Reference Adaptive Control and Direct Torque Control System. The Model Reference Adaptive Control System is based on the comparison between the outputs of Reference Model and Adjustable Model. The error between the estimated quantities obtained by the two models is used to drive a suitable adaptation mechanism which generates the estimated rotor speed for the Adjustable Model. And the Direct Torque Control scheme controls torque and flux by restricting the flux and torque errors within respective hysteresis bands, and motor torque and flux are controlled by the stator voltage space vector using optimum inverter switching table. The simulation results of proposed method indicate good speed responses from the low speed range to the high, and also show favorable characteristics of load operation.

The free vibration of a spinning flexible disk-spindle system supported by hydro dynamic bearings (HDB) in an HDD is analyzed by FEM. The spinning flexible disk is described using Kirchhoff plate theory and von Karman non-linear strain, and its rigid body motion is also considered. It is discretized by annular sector element. The rotating spindle which includes the clamp, hub, permanent magnet and yoke, is modeled by Timoshenko beam including the gyroscopic effect. The flexible supporting structure with a complex shape which includes stator core, housing, base plate, sleeve and thrust pad is modeled by using a 4-node tetrahedron element with rotational degrees of freedom to satisfy the geometric compatibility. The dynamic coefficients of HDB are calculated from the HDB analysis program, which solves the perturbed Reynolds equation using FEM. Introducing the virtual nodes and the rigid link constraints defined in the center of HDB, beam elements of the shaft are connected to the solid elements of the sleeve and thrust pad through the spring and damper element. The global matrix equation obtained by assembling the finite element equations of each substructure is transformed to the state-space matrix-vector equation, and the associated eigen value problem is solved by using the restarted Arnoldi iteration method. The validity of this research is verified by comparing the numerical results of the natural frequencies with the experimental ones. Also the effect of supporting structures to the natural modes of the total HDD system is rigorously analyzed.

Until recent years, most of the researches for motor drives focus on the high performance drive of the three phase induction motor, and that of the single phase induction motor(SPIM) is out of interest. The SPIM is widely used at low power level because it has the simple construction and economic advantage. In general such machine has both main winding and auxiliary winding. Conventionally, these winding are fed by only one single phase source, and the speed of the motor is not controlled. The SPIM with an auxiliary winding can be treated as an asymmetrical two phase machine. In this paper the space vector Equivalent circuit of SPIM is derived. For vector control of the SPIM the stator current must be decoupled into the flux producing component and the torque producing component. To accomplish decoupling control, the conventional method requires complex calculation and large computation time. We proposed the equivalent circuit referred to the rotor side, in this case only the stator resistances in the direct axis and the quadrature axis are different each other and the other parameters are represented to be equal. Thus the decoupling of the stator current is similar to that of the three phase induction motor. In this paper, the novel vector control system of the single phase induction motor is proposed. To verify the feasibility of this scheme, simulation and experimentation are carried out. The results prove the excellent characteristics for the dynamic response, which confirms the validity of the proposed system.

North Korea has already been using underground space for military purposes for decades, and is currently developing it as a key base for operating asymmetric forces. Accordingly, the special operations teams need fighting methods, weapon systems, and organizational structures to carry out subterranean operations. This paper presents an unmanned system platform for subterranean operations that combines tilt-rotor type drones, high-tech sensors, communication repeaters, and small robots, and a system that can be operated by special operation teams. Based on this, the survivability of the special operations teams can be strengthened and operational utility can be maximized. Afterwards, if Special Warfare Command collects collective intelligence based on the ideas related to subterranean operations presented in this paper and further develops these, it will be possible to drive subterranean operations doctrines, weapon systems, and organizational structures optimized for the battlefield on the Korean Theater of Operations in the near future.

The wound induction motor can provide high starting torque and reduced starting current simultaneously by inserting large resistor externally when starting. And this technique is one of the well known methods among the induction motor starting methods and generally used for heavy load starting such as crane and cement factories. The conventional PI controller has been widely used in industrial application due to the simple control algorithm and is generally used for control of current torque, position, and speed for the wound induction motor drive system. However, the conventional control system for wound induction motor may result in poor performance because sensors have to be used but are often limited by the environmental condition. Recently, to overcome these problems, many sensorless vector control methods for the wound induction motor have been studied. This paper presents a MRAS method for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor drive. In the conventional MRAS method, in low frequency, the stator resistance variation may result in poor performance. Therefore, this paper presents a MRAS method with stator and rotor resistance tuning for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor to overcome several shortages of the conventional MRAS caused by parameter variation and to enhance the robustness of the sensorless vector control. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through digital simulation.

This paper introduces a indirect rotor position and speed estimation algorithm for the SRM(switched reluctance motor) sensorless control based on the sliding mode observer and evolutionary programming The information of position and speed is generally provided by encoder or resolve. However, the position sensor not only adds complexity, cost and size to the whole drive system, but also causes limitation for industrial applications. In this paper, in order to eliminate the position sensor, indirect position sensing, indirect position sensing method using sliding mode observer is used for SRM drives. But if sliding mode observer parameters are selected to be large, the corresponding rapid changes of estimated position and velocity result in chattering phenomenon. Therefore in order to reduce the chattering, this observer parameters are optimized by evolutionary programming. And PID controller is also optimized to track precisely for the SRM using evolutionary programming.

In this paper, a speed sensorless control for an ultrasonic motor (USM) using a neural network (NN) is presented. In the proposed method, rotor speed is estimated by a three-layer NN which adapts nonlinearities associated with load torque and motor temperature into control. The intrinsic properties of a USM, such as high torque for low speeds, high static torque, compact size, etc., offer great advantages for industrial applications. However, the speed property of a USM has strong nonlinear properties associated with motor temperature and load torque, which make accurate speed control difficult. These properties are considered in designing a control method through the application of mathematical models. In these strategies, a detailed speed model of the USM is required which makes actual applications impractical. In the proposed method, a three-layer NN estimates the speed of the USM from the drive frequency, the root mean square value of input voltage and the surface temperature of the USM, where no mechanical speed sensor is needed. The NN speed based estimator enables inclusion of variations in driving conditions due to input signals of the NN involved during the driving state of the USM. The disuse of sensors offers many advantages on both the cost and maintenance front. Moreover, the model free sensorless control method offers practical controller construction within a small number of parameters. To validate the proposed speed sensorless control method for a USM, experiments have been executed under several conditions.
