견관절의 회전중심점을 고려한 동작가능 영역의 생성 (Generation of a Practical Reach Envelope with the Center of Rotation of the Shoulder Joint Considered)

  • Shoulder joint is the most movable joint in human body with, at least, three degrees of freedom, since there are at least three bones and five joints involved in shoulder movement. Due to the complexity of the shoulder joint and the lack of appropriate anatomical data, modeling of the shoulder joint has been known to be extremely difficult. In many biomechanical models being used, shoulder joint is considered as a fixed point and it is also assumed that the shoulder joint does not noticeably move during the shoulder movement. However, such an assumption is not valid in real applications and causes inaccuracy, especially, in the area of workspace evaluation. The reachable area generated by a human becomes somewhat different from that of current models for those models fail to appropriately reflect the movement of shoulder joint's center of rotation. In this study, the location of the shoulder joint's center of rotation was obtained in relation to the location of humerus, on which a new model for reach envelope generation was developed for workspace evaluation. From the experiments conducted for three subjects, the initial location of the center of rotation was determined for each subject and subsequent changes in the instantaneous center of rotation were drawn as a function of flexion and abduction of the shoulder. Based on the regression analysis, the study suggested a new method for the generation of reach envelope. Comparisons were also made among real reach envelopes obtained from the experiment, the ones from the model, and the ones from the new method suggested in the study. As a result, the prediction errors incurred from the new method were significantly reduced when compared to the ones from the current approach.

성상회전 변조기법을 이용한 새로운 계층변조 기법 (New Hierarchical Modulation Scheme Using a Constellation Rotation Method)

  • 본 논문은 DVB-NGH 내 계층(HP : High Priority) 신호와 향상 계층(LP : Low Priority) 신호로 구성된 계층변조 기법에서 LP 신호의 성능저하 문제를 개선하기 위해 LP 신호에 성상회전(Constellation-Rotation) 변조기법을 적용한 새로운 계층변조 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 연속된 LP 신호들에 대하여 기존의 성상회전 선부호기를 적용하여 수신단에서 향상된 다이버시티 이득을 획득으로 성능 향상이 발생하며, 더불어 HP 신호들의 성능 저하는 거의 발생하지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 또한 제안된 새로운 계층변조 기법에 대한 수신 방법으로 HP 복조는 기존의 HP 수신기를 사용하고 LP 신호에 대하여만 CR 기반의 ML 복조를 수행하는 새로운 저 복잡도 수신 방법도 제시한다.

비탄성 국부좌굴을 고려한 철골 모멘트 접합부 회전능력 평가를 위한 모델 개발 (Evaluation of Rotation Capacity of Steel Moment Connections ConsideringInelastic Local Buckling - Model Development)

  • 잘 설계된 철골 모멘트 접합부의 경우, 유효회전능력에 도달하기 전에 국부좌굴이 발생하고 비탄성 후좌굴 변형이 접합부 회전능력을 정의하는데 중대한 역할을 한다. 이 연구에서는 국부좌굴로 인한 강도저하와 보 소성힌지의 회전을 모델링하여, 단조증가하중 및 반복하중이 작 용하는 특별철골모멘트골조의 강접합 보-기둥 접합부의 회전능력을 예측하기 위한 근사적 해석모델을 제안한다. 제안된 항복선 소성힌지 모델은 좌굴된 소성힌지부의 형상에 기초하여 항복선과 소성존으로 구성되고, 소성메커니즘을 통해 국부좌굴후의 거동까지 포함한 모멘트-회전각 관계를 제 공한다. 향상된 WUF-W 와 RBS 접합부를 위해 제안된 모델을 개발한 후 실험결과와 비교를 통해 검증하였다. 동반논문(변수연구)에서는 광범위 한 H-형강의 기하학적 변수 따른 접합부 회전능력에 대하여 논의하였다.

가보필터기반 얼굴인식에서의 유동적 Jet Point Setting (Flexible Jet Point Setting In Gabor Filter Based Face Recognition)

  • This paper focused on the possibility of face recognition using Flexible let Point Setting method in Gabor Filter Based Face Recognition. Gabor Filter is very sensible to the Texture variation. Therefore, any little change in the face expression or rotation of posture make recognition rate down significantly. A suggested solution for this problem is the Flexible Jet Point Setting. A significant effect of this method is that the number of Jet Point has been reduced from over 150 to under 30 even though the change of recognition rate between two methods is neglectable, Furthermore a set of feature values which results from a set of Gabor filtering became insensible to face variation such as expression, rotation, and light effect. Retinex Algorithm which has been developed by NASA are used as pre-processing.

밝기, 명암도, 크기, 회전, 위치 변화에 강인한 얼굴 인식 (Face Recognition Robust to Brightness, Contrast, Scale, Rotation and Translation)

  • 본 논문에서는 변형 Otsu 이진화 방법, Hu 모멘트 및 선형 판별 분석(linear discriminant analysis, LDA)를 기반으로 밝기, 명암도, 크기, 회전 위치 변화에 강인한 얼굴 인식 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 제안한 변형 Otsu 이진화를 사용하여 밝기 및 명암도에 불변한 이진 영상들을 만든다. 그런 후 생성된 얼굴 영상의 경계 영상 및 다단계 이진영상으로부터 총 17개의 Hu 모멘트를 계산한 다음 LDA 방법을 적용하여 최종 특징 벡터를 추출한다. 특히 제안하는 얼굴 인식 방법은 Hu 모멘트를 이용함으로써 크기, 회전 및 위치 변화에도 강인한 특성을 갖고 있다. Olivetti research laboratory (ORL) 데이터베이스와 AR 데이터베이스의 총 100명의 얼굴 영상에 대해 기존의 주요 성문 분석(Principal component analysis, PCA) 방법 및 PCA와 LDA를 결합한 얼굴 인식 방법과 비교 실험한 결과, 제안한 얼굴 인식 방법은 대체적으로 기존 방법보다 뛰어난 인식 성능을 보였다.

A Novel Least Square and Image Rotation based Method for Solving the Inclination Problem of License Plate in Its Camera Captured Image

  • Recognizing license plate from its traffic camera captured images is one of the most important aspects in many traffic management systems. Despite many sophisticated license plate recognition related algorithms available online, license plate recognition is still a hot research issue because license plates in each country all round the world lack of uniform format and their camera captured images are often affected by multiple adverse factors, such as low resolution, poor illumination effects, installation problem etc. A novel method is proposed in this paper to solve the inclination problem of license plates in their camera captured images through four parts: Firstly, special edge pixels of license plate are chosen to represent main information of license plates. Secondly, least square methods are used to compute the inclined angle of license plates. Then, coordinate rotation methods are used to rotate the license plate. At last, bilinear interpolation methods are used to improve the performance of license plate rotation. Several experimental results demonstrated that our proposed method can solve the inclination problem about license plate in visual aspect and can improve the recognition rate when used as the image preprocessing method.

Vibration-based identification of rotating blades using Rodrigues' rotation formula from a 3-D measurement

  • In this study, the geometrical setup of a turbine blade is tracked. A research-scale rotating turbine blade system is setup with a single 3-axes accelerometer mounted on one of the blades. The turbine system is rotated by a controlled motor. The tilt and rolling angles of the rotating blade under operating conditions are determined from the response measurement of the single accelerometer. Data acquisition is achieved using a prototype wireless sensing system. First, the Rodrigues' rotation formula and an optimization algorithm are used to track the blade rolling angle and pitching angles of the turbine blade system. In addition, the blade flapwise natural frequency is identified by removing the rotation-related response induced by gravity and centrifuge force. To verify the result of calculations, a covariance-driven stochastic subspace identification method (SSI-COV) is applied to the vibration measurements of the blades to determine the system natural frequencies. It is thus proven that by using a single sensor and through a series of coordinate transformations and the Rodrigues' rotation formula, the geometrical setup of the blade can be tracked and the blade flapwise vibration frequency can be determined successfully.

Signalman Action Analysis for Container Crane Controlling

  • Human action tracking plays an important place in human-computer-interaction, human action tracking is a challenging task because of the exponentially increased computational complexity in terms of the degrees of freedom of the object and the severe image ambiguities incurred by frequent self-occlusions. In this paper, we will propose a novel method to track human action, in our technique, a dynamic background estimation algorithm will be applied firstly. Based on the estimated background, we then extract the human object from the video sequence, and the skeletonization method and Hough transform method will be used to detect the main structure of human body and each part rotation angle. The calculated rotation angles will be used to control a crane in the port, thus we can just control the container crane by using signalman body. And the experimental results can show that our proposed method can get a preferable result than the conventional methods such as: MIT, JPF or MFMC.
