  • One of the main problems to constitute control method on biologically oriented wastewater purification processes, e.g. activated sludge process, sequential batch reactor, rotating bio-disk contactor, etc. is that it is hard to control the target component directly. For instance, while biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, and chemical oxygen demand are the key components to check the process performance, one may not control them directly since they are the results of microbial activities related to numerous physiochemical factors.   • 4-types of coils were prepared by coating with polyamideimide (PAI) organic/inorganic hybrid. One type was made with original PAI vanish and the other 3-types were made of double layers, that was to say, high flexural PAI layer and high anti-corona PAI/nanosilica (15 wt%) layer. Drying temperature (T/D) were $220^{\circ}C$, $240^{\circ}C$, and $260^{\circ}C$, respectively and rectangular type coil for high-voltage rotating machine was used. DC and AC electrical breakdown tests were carried out in order to study the insulation properties according to T/D temperature and coil curvature (5, 15, and $25mm{\Phi}$). As the curvature increased, electrical breakdown voltage decreased and as T/D temperature decreased, electrical breakdown voltage increased.

A Study on the Typological Classification of Exhibition Area in Museum Regarding Circulation area (동선공간과의 관계로 본 미술관 전시공간의 유형 분류에 관한 연구)

  • Museums after '70's shows remarkable development in public area as well as exhibiiton area. One of the main changes in recent museums is to extend the concept of circulatin area, which regarded solely as a corridor connecting exhibition areas, as a multiple function area with various service facilities. This study aims to outline atypological classification of exhibition area considering with circulation area in museum. On the base of two principal types of exhibition area, that is room type vs open plant type, 30 representative worldwide museums are analyzed and four different types are identified as a result. 1) Loop type as a rotating structure of serial exhibition rooms 2) Cluster type which produce complicated circulation with rooms lied one upon another 3) Centrum type which is specially available to multistory exhibition area 4) Loft type with maximum flexibi쇼 and accessbility.

  • Three Lab-scale combustors of different types were made to observe some basic phenomena of fuel combustion in the combustors ; grate type combustor, rotary kiln and FBC. The aims were to introduce how to simulate the combustion behaviors in the real plants by utilizing the reduced apparatuses and characterize the combustors relating to some important parameters such as fuel size, water contents, bed temperature, rotating speed of kiln, flow rate. The mean carbon conversion time and the flame propagation rate were adopted for the quantitative analysis.

  • Industrial agitators are used in various industrial fields where they are necessary to intimately mix two reactants in a short period of time. However, despite their widespread use, complex unsteady flow characteristics of industrial agitators are not systematically investigated. The present study alms for clarify unsteady flow characteristics induced by various impellers in a tank. Impellers are pitched blade turbine(PBT) types, Screw type and Rushton turbine type. In this study flow characteristics of the impeller using CFD. The rotating speed of impellers fixed about 100RPM. These three types of Impeller show that typical flow characteristics of axial turbine and suitable for mixing powder

Effect of friction and eccentricity on rebbing phenomenon (회전마멸현상에서의 마찰과 편심의 영향)

  • Nonlinear dynamic characteristics of rubbing phenomenon in rotor dynamics are investigated experimentally and numerically. Rubbing phenomenon occurs when rotor contacts with stator during whirling and causes the large amplitude of vibration, high whirl frequencies, and possibly catastrophic failure. Rubbing has various types of forward whirl, backward rolling, backward slipping, and partial rub depending on the system parameters of rotating machinery and running speed. Experiments are performed for forward whirl and backward whirl. And numerical analysis are conducted to explain the changes between backward rolling and backward slipping. Experimental and numerical results show that the types of whirling motion depends on the friction coefficient between rotor and stator and the eccentricity of rotor.

Feature Parameter Analysis for Rotor Fault Diagnosis (회전체 결함 진단을 위한 특징 파라미터 분석)

  • Rotor of rotating machinery is the highly damaged part. Fault of 7 different types was confirmed as the main causes of rotor damage from the pump failure history data in domestic and U.S. nuclear. For each fault types, simulation testing was performed and fault signals were collected form the sensors. To calculate the statistical parameters of time-domain & frequency-domain, measured signals were analyzed by using the discrete wavelet transform, fast fourier transform, statistical analysis. Total 84 parameters were obtained. And Effectiveness factor were used to evaluate the discrimination capacity of each parameter. From the effectiveness factor, RAW-P4/RAW-P7/WT2-NNL/WT2-EE/WT1-P1 showed high ranking. Finally, these parameters were selected as the feature parameters of intelligent fault diagnostics for rotor.

  • A crank-slider mechanism is driven by the rotating disk with are crank-pin guide to be applied to the deep drawing and cold forging presses. Load characteristics for different presses are summarized to see the basics of deep drawing of sheet metal and forging in terms of load-stroke relationship. Several types of conventional deep drawing presses are also shown to be compared with the ratating disk-types press. Kinematic performances by thearc guide driving mechanism are anlayzed in terms of load capaicty, stroke, and slide velocity characteristics, and they are compared with those by conventional driving , e.g. Niagara-typepress and so on. Kinematically better performances is shown by arc guide drive than those by conventional ones. The new driving mechanism is also proven to be one of the best for mass production press in terms of short cycle time. Possible applications of the arc guide press to deep drawing and cold forging work are in terms of kinematics and load capacity.

  • Propeller fans are commonly equipped in outdoor units of air-conditioners to provide effective cooling in a dried heat exchanger. A new design technique was developed to satisfy requirements of aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance, which employs the intersection method of two cylinders for mean camber line. Three proto-types of propeller fan including Palm-Shaped, Highly-Swept(PSHS) fan (proto 3)were not only to provide low lift forces for dipole sound, but also to reduce the organized tip vortices interacting with the fan guide causing narrow-banded rotating instabilities. Cross-correlation technique was applied to study flow noise source characteristics for three proto-type fans designed. The cross-correlations between a microphone at far field and a hot-wire sensor at near field show that flows near hub region of proto 3 fan are less organized and the flow structures especially at high flow rate coefficients for proto 3 fan are less correlated with noise generated than other proto-types fans.

The rotating speed of impellers fixed about 100RPM. Numerical analysis results show that differential flow characteristics of each type Impeller and Rushton turbine type(RUT) is suitable for mixing powder.
