저융점 원소의 첨가에 따른 Ti65Fe35 과공정 합금의 미세구조와 기계적 특성의 변화 (Evolution on Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Ti65Fe35 Hypereutectic Alloys by Adding Low Melting Temperature Elements)

  • The microstructural evolution and modulation of mechanical properties were investigated for a $Ti_{65}Fe_{35}$ hypereutectic alloy by addition of $Bi_{53}In_{47}$ eutectic alloys. The microstructure of these alloys changed with the additional BiIn elements from a typical dendrite-eutectic composite to a bimodal eutectic structure with primary dendrite phases. In particular, the primary dendrite phase changed from a TiFe intermetallic compound into a ${\beta}$-Ti solid solution despite their higher Fe content. Compressive tests at room temperature demonstrated that the yield strength slightly decreased but the plasticity evidently increased with an increasing Bi-In content, which led to the formation of a bimodal eutectic structure (${\beta}$-Ti/TiFe + ${\beta}$-Ti/BiIn containing phase). Furthermore, the (Ti65Fe35)95(Bi53In47)5 alloy exhibited optimized mechanical properties with high strength (1319MPa) and reasonable plasticity (14.2 %). The results of this study indicate that the transition of the eutectic structure, the type of primary phases and the supersaturation in the ${\beta}$-Ti phase are crucial factors for controlling the mechanical properties of the ultrafine dendrite-eutectic composites.

  • 국내 시중에 유통되어 음용되고 있는 먹는 샘물(생수) 30 종과 가정으로 공급되는 수돗물 9종 중의 벤젠, 톨루엔, 에틸벤젠, 자일렌을 고체상미량추출법을 사용하여 정량하였다. 정지상은 $100\;{\mu}m$ PDMS fiber를 이용하였고, 실험조건은 실온에서, 교반시간 1200 RPM G, 흡착시간 4 분, 탈착시간 1 분 이었다. 정량은 표준검량선법을 사용하였다. 평균검출한계는 벤젠 0.39 (${\pm}0.04$) ng/mL, 톨루엔 0.08 (${\pm}0.04$) ng/mL, 에틸벤젠 0.04 (${\pm}0.01$) ng/mL, o-자일렌 0.05 (${\pm}0.02$) ng/mL 이었다. 30 종의 먹는 샘물(생수)조사 결과 벤젠과 o-자일렌은 모든 시료에서 검출되지 않았으며, 톨루엔의 경우는 11 개의 시료, 에틸벤젠은 3 개의 시료에서 검출되었다. 검출된 물질의 각각의 농도범위는 $0.24({\pm}0.09)\sim2.95\;({\pm}0.08)\;ng/mL$, $0.08({\pm}0.06)\sim0.93({\pm}0.10)\;ng/mL$였다.

La2O3 첨가에 따른 BaTiO3의 미세구조 및 유전특성 (Microstructure and dielectric properties in the La2O3-doped BaTiO3 system)

  • La2O3 첨가량에 따른 결정상 및 미세구조 변화와 유전특성과의 상관관계에 대해 연구하였다. 고상반응법을 이용해 합성된 0.3 mol% TiO2 과잉 BaTiO3 분말에 대해 La2O3 첨가량을 다르게 첨가하여 1250℃에서 2시간 동안 소결되었다. 상온에서 측정된 XRD는 La2O3 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 lattice parameter가 변화하였고, 정방정비가 감소하였다. 이는 La3+가 Ba2+ 자리에 치환되어 정방정상의 불안정성을 높여 입방정상으로 상전이 된 것으로 설명할 수 있다. La2O3 첨가량이 증가할 때, 임계입자성장구동력(Δgc)이 최대 입자성장구동력 (Δgmax)보다 높아져, 입자크기와 밀도가 감소하였다. 유전상수는 La2O3가 증가함에 따라 감소하였는데, 이를 결정상 및 미세구조의 변화에 대한 효과로 분석하였다.

Microstructure Evolution and Dielectric Characteristics of CaCu3Ti4O12 Ceramics with Sn-Substitution

  • The doping effect of Sn on the microstructure evolution and dielectric properties was studied in $CaCu_3Ti_{4-x}Sn_xO_{12}$ polycrystals. Samples were produced by a conventional solid-state reaction method. Sintering was carried out at $1115^{\circ}C$ for 2-16 h in air. The dielectric constant and loss were examined at room temperature over a frequency range between $10^2$ and $10^6$ Hz. The microstructure was found to evolve into three stages. Addition of $SnO_2$ led to an increase in density and advanced formation of abnormal grains. The formation of coarse grains with a reduced thickness of the boundary brought about an enhanced dielectric constant and a lower dielectric loss below ~1 kHz. EDS data showed the Cu-rich phase along the grain boundary, which should contribute to the improved dielectric constant according to the internal barrier layer capacitor model. After all, $SnO_2$ was an effective dopant to elevate the dielectric characteristics of $CaCu_3Ti_{4-x}Sn_xO_{12}$ polycrystals as a promoter for abnormal grain growth.

  • [ $LiCoO_{2}$ ] is the most common cathode electrode materials in Lithium-ion batteries. $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ was synthesized by the solid-state reaction method. We investigated crystal structures, electrical conductivities and electrochemical properties. The crystal structure of $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ was analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The material showed a single phase of a layered structure with the space group R-3m. The lattice parameter(a, c) of $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ was larger than that of $LiCoO_2$. The electrical conductivity of sintered samples was measured by the Van der Pauw method. The electrical conductivities of $LiCoO_2$ and $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ were $2.11{\times}10^{-4}\;S/cm$ and $2.41{\times}10^{-1}\;S/cm$ at room temperature, respectively. On the basis of the Hall effect analysis, the increase in electrical conductivities of $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ is believed due to the increased carrier concentrations, while the carrier mobility was almost invariant. The electrochemical performance was investigated by coin cell test. $LiCo_{0.97}Mg_{0.03}O_2$ showed improved cycling performance as compared with $LiCoO_2$.

$FeS_{2}$의 압축성 연구 (Compressibility of $FeS_{2}$)

  • 황철석에 대한 압축성 연구를 다이아몬드 앤빌 기기 및 방사광을 이용하고 에너지분산 X-선회절법을 적용하여 상온에서 시행하였다. 황철석의 체적탄성률은 실험조건과 실험기기에 따라 매우 큰 변이를 보이고 있는데 이는 압력전달매체의 특성에 따른 것으로 알려져 있다. $FeS_{2}#1$(황철석+NaCl)과 $FeS_{2}#2$(황철석+MgO)에 대해 압력전달 매체로 각각 NaCl과 유체를 이용하여 체적탄성률 138.9 GPa와 198.2 GPa를 각각 얻었다. 이러한 값은 시료방의 압력상태에 따른 예측 결과치에 대치되는 것으로 그 원인은 압력전달액체의 상변이에 따른 것으로 추정되며 이외에 고상검출기의 차이, E*d값의 차이 등도 영향을 미친 것으로 판단된다. 모든 실험은 포항가속기연구소 1B2 빔라인에서 시행되었다.

포도구균의 A단백질을 이용한 효소면역법으로 살모넬라 O항원 검출 (An Improved Method for Detection of Salmonella Typhi O Antigen with Staphylococcal Protein A Using Enzyme Immunoassay)

  • Coagglutination method is widely used for the diagnosis of Salmonella infection. This test, however, has a disadvantage of false positive reaction due to the coagglutination of staphylococci with non-specific immune complexes or anti-staphylococci antibody in serum. Salmonell O antigen was detected by enzyme immunoassay with protein A-bearing Staphylococcus aureus as in the solid phase. Horse radish peroxidase was labeled to IgG specific against Salmonella O antigen. This enzyme immunoassay was much more sensitive than conventional coagglutination method without false poitive agglutination. To improve the sensitivity for detection of Salmonella O antigen in samples, we tried to determine the optimal concentration of normal IgG that inhibits non-specific binding of horse radish peroxidase labeled IgG to staphylococci, and to establish the optimal condition of reaction between antigen-antibody complex and staphylococci. Non-specific binding of horse radish peroxidase labeled specific IgG to staphylococci was almost blocked when the enzyme labeled IgG was 500-fold diluted with phosphate buffered saline containing 2mg/ml of normal IgG. When staphylococci coated with antibody to Salmonella O antigen were mixed with antigen-antibody complex and then incubated for 1 hour at room temperature, the minimal detectable concentration of Salmonella O antigen was 1ng/ml. The sensitivity of enzyme immunoassay was 100-fold greater than a conventional coagglutination method. This enzyme immunoassay could be expected as an improved method for detection of other infectious agents.

국산 천연알카리 장석의 결정구조와 Photoluminescence (Crystal Structure and Photoluminescence of Domestic Natural Alkaline Feldspar)

  • Blue light-emitting phosphors having the excitation spectrum range of the medium-long ultraviolet ($280nm{\sim}400nm$) have been prepared by solid state reaction method. As a starting material the natural alkaline feldspar powder produced from the domestic mine field in Buyeo, Chungnam-do. The photoluminescence characteristics and crystal structures have been analyzed for the phosphor samples. The powder mixture of the natural alkaline feldspar and the rare-earth oxide was calcined at $800{\sim}1000^{\circ}C\;for\;3{\sim}4h$ in air. The calcined samples we fully ground at room temperature and then heat-treated in the mild reducing gas atmosphere of $5%H_2-95%N_2$ mixture at $1100{\sim}1150^{\circ}C\;for\;3{\sim}4h$. The natural alkaline feldspar material consists of the monoclinic orthoclase ($KAlSi_3O_8$) and the triclinic albite ($NaAlSi_3O_8$) phases. At the $0.5wt%Eu_2O_3$ addition the PL spectrum showed the maximum intensity and with further increase of $Eu_2O_3$ the PL intensity decreased. The albite phase disappeared in the $Eu_2O_3$ doped phosphors. The effect of the co-doped activator on the PL characteristics have been also discussed.

초고경도 Ti-Al-Si-N 나노복합체 코팅막의 미세구조 및 트라이볼로지 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Microstructure and Tribological Behavior of Superhard Ti-Al-Si-N Nanocomposite Coatings)

  • In this study, the influence of silicon contents on the microstructure, mechanical and tribological properties of Ti-Al-Si-N coatings were systematically investigated for application of cutting tools. The composition of the Ti-Al-Si-N coatings were controlled by different combinations of TiAl2 and Ti4Si composite target powers using an arc ion plating technique in a reactive gas mixture of high purity Ar and N2 during depositions. Ti-Al-Si-N films were nanocomposite consisting of nanosized (Ti,Al,Si)N crystallites embedded in an amorphous Si3N4/SiO2 matrix. The instrumental analyses revealed that the synthesized Ti-Al-Si-N film with Si content of 5.63 at.% was a nanocomposites consisting of nano-sized crystallites (5-7 nm in dia.) and a three dimensional thin layer of amorphous Si3N4 phase. The hardness of the Ti-Al-Si-N coatings also exhibited the maximum hardness value of about 47 GPa at a silicon content of ~5.63 at.% due to the microstructural change to a nanocomposite as well as the solid-solution hardening. The coating has a low friction coefficient of 0.55 at room temperature against an Inconel alloy ball. These excellent mechanical and tribological properties of the Ti-Al-Si-N coatings could help to improve the performance of machining and cutting tool applications.

기계화학공정을 이용한 Perovskite 구조의 (Pb, La)$TiO_3$ 나노 분말 합성 및 특성 (Synthesis and characterization of perovskite nano-sized (Pb, La)$TiO_3$ powder using mechano chemical process)

  • 기계화학공정(MCP; Mechano Chemical Process)은 원료 분말이 기계적인 에너지로 인해 상 형성이 활성화되기 때문에 기존의 볼밀링을 이용한 고상반응에서 필수적인 높은 온도에서의 하소 공정이 필요하지 않다. 본 연구에서는 고 에너지 MCP 방법을 이용하여 perovskite 구조를 가지는 PLT 나노 분말을 제조하였다. 특히, 일반적으로 출발물질로 염을 이용하는 것과 달리 산화물을 원료 분말로 사용하여 어떠한 열처리 공정 없이 PLT 나노 분말을 합성하였다. 또한 건식으로 밀링을 하여 분말 건조 공정이 필요 없어서 공정이 간단하다. MCP 밀링은 시간 별로 12시간까지 진행하였으며, 제조된 분말의 상 분석과 결정면 분석 결과 3시간 이후에는 perovskite 구조의 순수한 PLT 상을 형성하였다. 또한 마이크로 크기의 원료 분말이 밀링 3시간이 지나자 약 20 nm 크기의 균일한 나노 입자가 생성되었다.
