  • To fulfill recent requirements for high quality products in steel rolling process, fast responding and easily tunab control system is required and ILQ(Inverse Linear Quadratic) control system may be one of such alternatives. In this paper characteristics of ILQ control and its application to BUR(Back-Up-Roll) eccentricity in strip rolling mill is discussed and compared to polynomial control approaches. Also the rolling mill model and basic principle to control thickness of srip are introduced with control effect by polynomial methods.

  • It is difficult to analyze the high speed rolling missile with the generally used missile body fixed coordinates. In this study, we formulate the dynamic equations of the high speed rolling missile with the principal axis of inertia, and make the analytical model of one axis steering missile using pitch/yaw symmetry and complex summation method. With this model we analyze the control characteristics and propose the design considerations of high speed rolling missile with one axis control fin using PNG law in conjuntion with a seeker signal.

  • An experimental study was performed to discover the effect of adsorbed moisture on the rolling resistance behavior of pure silver-coated 52100 bearing steel. Plasma surface modifications were performed on the silver-coated specimen to change the wetting characteristics. Experiments using a thrust ball bearing-type rolling test-rig were performed under vacuum, dry air and various humidity conditions. Results showed that the changes in the wetting characteristics influenced remarkably on the silver particle agglomeration and resulted in the different behavior of rolling resistance with humidity.

  • In this Study, we examined the influence of characteristics of rolling loads by casters on separation resistance of substrate concrete and synthetic resin floor coating. In the experiment, we first prepared floor samples having substrate concrete of various compressive strength, surface hardness and surface configurations, then put the coated samples to the test of separation resistance with Rolling Caster Loading Machine. Three loading conditions consisted of different kinds of casters, rolling conditions, and coating materials. Consequently, we clarified that the grade of separation resistance varied widely according to the characteristics of substrate concrete and rolling loads.

  • For the purpose to facilitate development of high-speed spindle units (SUs) running on rolling bearings, we have developed a beam element model, algorithms, and software for computer analysis of thermal characteristics of SUs. The thermal model incorporates a model of heat generation in rolling bearings, a model of heat transfer from bearings, and models for estimation of temperature and temperature deformations of SU elements. We have carried out experimental test and made quantitative evaluation of the effect of operation conditions on friction and thermal characteristics of the SUs of grinding and turning machines of typical structures. It is found out that the operation conditions make stronger effect on SU temperatures when rpm increases. A comparison between the results of analysis and experiment proves their good mutual correspondence and allows us to recommend application of the models and software developed for design and research of high-speed SUs running on rolling bearings.

  • In hot roiling process, new rolling mills have been apapted to strip rolling but we can usually experience the problem of snaking of strip. This phenomenon was arisen by nonsymmetric rolling and on-centering and cambering of a strip and other mill conditions. Three dimensional analysis for strip rolling predicted the influence of nonsymmetric rolling, off-centering and pair crossing system This study evaluated the fundamental characteristics of snaking of a strip to optimize the operating condition for trouble free rolling.

  • In this paper, the slab method have been applied to investigate the strip casting process in which hot coil is produced from molten steel directly. In the twin roll strip casting process, molten steel supplied by the nozzle cools and solidifies due to the heat extraction effect of the rolls and hot rolling of the solidified shell takes place simultaneously. The analysis of hot rolling has been carried out by using the existing results of solidification analysis for the twin roll strip casting process. The current slab method provides basic design data such as roll separation force, rolling torque, rolling power as well as end dam separation force which are required to design strip caster. The effect of friction on the basic process parameters are investigated also. It is shown that the use of appropriate friction coefficient is important and that the characteristics of hot rolling in the twin-roll strip casting process is quite different from the conventional hot rolling processes.

  • Rapid increase of refrigeration & air-conditioning system( r & a system ) in modern industries brings attention to the urgency of development as a core technology in the area. And it required to the compatibility problem of r & a system to alternative refrigerant for the protection of environment. Then, it is requested to research about the lubrication characteristics of refrigerant compressor which is the core thechnology in the r & a system. The study of lubrication characteristics in the critical sliding component is essential for the design of refrigerant compressor. Therefore, theoetical investigation of the lubrication characteristics of rotary compressor for r & a system is studied. And the Runge-Kutta method is used for the analysis of the behavior of rolling piston in the rotary compressor. The results show that the rotating speed of shaft and the discharge pressure have an important effect upon the angular velocity of the rolling piston. This results give important basic data for the further lubrication analysis and design of the rotary compressor.

  • in order to elucidate the characteristic of velocity distribution of the cavity air. Exploratory tests were conducted on an unloaded rolling radial tire operated at various speeds and inflation pressure. A hot-wire anemometer, rotating with the tire, was used to measure the flow velocity inside the tire cavity. Tow different types of experiments were performed ; one for the effects of rolling speed with constant inflation pressure, the other for the various cavity pressures with constant rolling speed. Experimental results are given as plots of the mean velocity distributions versus the distance from the rim. It is observed that the magnitude of mean velocity in the cavity air shows increasing natures with the increasing of the inflation pressures and rolling speeds.
