  • Flatness of strip at aluminum cold rolling is one of the important quality parameters of rolled products. The reasons for this are perhaps obvious: for many of the end uses, subsequent processing requires a flat product poor flatness on-line can lead to reduced running speeds and hence to lower production levels. Amongst the reasons for lower running speeds is the increased risk of strip breaks. The Alcan Ulsan plant developed an automatic flatness control system on conventional four high mills for a year.   • We analyze the real-field operational results of the RIMS. Four aspects are considered; 1) economical, 2) managerial, 3) safety and reliability and 4) RIMS user evaluation. In economical aspect we investigate the fields where some economical gains are anticipated. In managerial aspect the efficiency and effectiveness of management through RIMS are investigated. The improvement of safety and reliability are qualitatively discussed. And RIMS user evaluation is performed through survey. We also suggest several conditions for the successful settlement of RIMS and future study area for RIMS to be more reliable and perfect.

Stator Current Processing-Based Technique for Bearing Damage Detection in Induction Motors

  • Induction motors are the most commonly used electrical drives because they are rugged, mechanically simple, adaptable to widely different operating conditions, and simple to control. The most common faults in squirrel-cage induction motors are bearing, stator and rotor faults. Surveys conducted by the IEEE and EPRI show that the most common fault in induction motor is bearing failure (${\sim}$40% of failure). Thence, this paper addresses experimental results for diagnosing faults with different rolling element bearing damage via motor current spectral analysis. Rolling element bearings generally consist of two rings, an inner and outer, between which a set of balls or rollers rotate in raceways. We set the experimental test bed to detect the rolling-element bearing misalignment of 3 type induction motors with normal condition bearing system, shaft deflection system by external force and a hole drilled through the outer race of the shaft end bearing of the four pole test motor. This paper takes the initial step of investigating the efficacy of current monitoring for bearing fault detection by incipient bearing failure. The failure modes are reviewed and the characteristics of bearing frequency associated with the physical construction of the bearings are defined. The effects on the stator current spectrum are described and related frequencies are also determined. This is an important result in the formulation of a fault detection scheme that monitors the stator currents. We utilized the FFT, Wavelet analysis and averaging signal pattern by inner product tool to analyze stator current components. The test results clearly illustrate that the stator signature can be used to identify the presence of a bearing fault.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the roll damping characteristics by bilge keels on the fishing vessel. Unlike other degree of freedom motions, roll motion is highly nonlinear. However the quantitative evaluation of roll damping combined with waves is very important for the fishing vessel. To reduce roll motion, roll motion stabilizers such as a bilge keel is used due to easy made and cheap cost rather than anti-rolling tank and fin-stabilizer. Authors paid attention to the shape of bilge keel and waves to grasp the roll damping for the fishing vessel and studied about the difference of tendencies of roll angle following the shapes of bilge keel. The model ship was the offshore large purse seiner and four types of bilge keel were used. The data from the experiments were provided and analyzed to investigate the rolling characteristics of the model ship being affected by the wave height, wave period and bilge keel shape. The results of the study showed that three types of the bilge keel have little effective, but only one has an effect on the roll damping. So bilge keel shape and its attachment method need to be a future study for the practical use in fishing vessel.

RCF 시험을 통한 KTX 윤축베어링의 분해 정비 주기 평가 (Estimation of the Overhaul Cycle Time for KTX Wheelset Bearing by RCF Test)

  • KTX wheelset bearings have thus far been maintained in accordance with the maintenance system of French national railway company, SNCF. The overhaul cycle time (OCT) of KTX wheelset bearings is now 1.4 million km in mileage. This value, however, has not been validated in Korea that has much different railway environments with France. In fact, it is impossible to validate OCT of wheelset bearings directly because they are disassembled and cleaned only when some faults are detected. In this paper, the accuracy of the current OCT value was evaluated indirectly by investigating the effect of grease lubricants on the bearing life. Five grease samples (one new and four aged greases) were used in this study. Four aged greases of different conditions were obtained from four wheelset bearings whose mileages were about 0.3, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.8 million km, respectively. Each grease sample was then injected into the RCF (Rolling Contact Fatigue) tester and fatigue lifetime was experimentally estimated. In addition, the wt% of Fe in each grease sample was analysed. The experiment results reveal that the bearing lifetime is inversely proportional to the mileage of grease sample while the wt% of Fe increases with the mileage of grease sample. Based on the experimental results, it can be concluded that the current OCT value is appropriate for the first overhaul of wheelset bearings. However, further validation is required to determine the second and third OCT values.

그린 스피드 예측 모형을 통한 빠른 그린 관리 방법 (Management of Fast Putting Green by Using Green Speed Expectation Models)

  • 본 연구는 골프 코스 관리자가 관리 방법에 따른 그린 스피드를 쉽게 예측할 수 있는 정보를 제공하기 위해 롤링, 이슬제거, 그리고 롤링+이슬 제거를 각각 1회 작업 후 깎기 높이의 변화($4.0{\sim}2.5mm$)와 시간 경과($0{\sim}8hr$)에 따른 4가지 유형의 그린스피드 예측 모형을 통한 빠른 그린 관리 방법을 제시하고자 수행하였다. 공 구름 거리 측정 값은 레이크사이드 컨트리 클럽 동코스 연습용 퍼팅 그린[(Creeping bentgrass (Agrosis palustris Huds. 'Penncross')]에서 2001년 10월 18일과 2002년 5월 25일에 하였다. 자료는 SPSS for window Rel. 10.0(SPSS Inc, 2000) 통계 패키지를 이용하여 다중 회귀 분석하였다. 4가지 유형의 그린스피드 예측 모형중, 빠른 그린 관리 방법의 기준을 설명해 줄 수 있는 회귀식은 식4[($Y_4=4.171-0.225{\cdot}X_1-0.038{\cdot}X_2$(여기서 $Y_4$ : 1회 이슬 제거+1회 롤링시 그린 스피드(m), $X_1$ : 깎기 높이($4.0{\sim}2.5mm,\;X_2$) : 시간 경과($0{\sim}8hr$)]이었다. 이 식은 1회 이슬 제거(스펀지 롤러) $\rightarrow$ 3.0mm 이하의 깎기 높이(21인치 11날 보행식 그린모아, 토너먼트 밑날 장착) $\rightarrow$ 1회 롤링(경량 롤러)의 관리 작업을 할 경우 라운드 종료까지도 3.2m이상의 빠른 그린을 얻을 수 있는 것을 예측하였다. 따라서 이런 관리 시스템은 공식 골프 대회를 위한 빠른 그린의 관리의 기준이 될 것으로 기대되어 진다.

고정자전류 모니터링에 의한 유도전동기 베어링고장 검출에 관한 연구 (Induction Motor Bearing Damage Detection Using Stator Current Monitoring)

  • 이 논문은 다른 종류의 유도전동기 구름베어링 손상을 유도전동기 고정자 전류신호해석을 통하여 검출하고 실시간으로 손상을 진단하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 유도전동기 구름베어링의 손상을 검출하기 위하여 정상적인 베어링을 갖는 유도전동기, 측정열에 불량을 가지고 있는 전동기와 베어링 외륜에 구멍을 가지고 있는 2가지 종류의 비정상 베어링을 갖는 유도전동기 3set를 실험시스템을 구축하였다. 또한 유도전동기의 구름베어링시스템의 비정상적인 상태에서 고정자전류을 검출하기 위하여 TMS320F2407 DSP 칩을 이용하여 데이터 획득보드를 개발하였다. 이 고정자전류신호를 해석을 통하여 베어링 손상을 검출하기 위한 방법으로 FFT, 웨이브렛 분석 및 내적에 의한 평균 신호패던에 의한 분석결과를 제시하였다. 특히 내적에 의한 신호분석 온 통하여 베어링 손상 여부를 실시간으로 진단할 수 있는 새로운 알고리즘과 분석방법을 제시하였다.

  • In this study, effects of forming angle and friction coefficient on a initiation of the Mannesmann hole defect were analyzed by using a response surface method. The maximum effective plastic strain at center point of specimen is utilized for the prediction of the starting point of crack occurrence, which is suggested by the comparison of integrals of four different ductile fracture models between the histories of the effective plastic strain at center point. It was revealed that the principal stress at the center is the dominant element to the increase of the effective plastic strain. It was also verified by the simulation results from the comparison of experiment and simulation. It is provided that the forming angle of 25 degrees and the spreading angle of 1 degree can be a proper design condition without an occurrence of internal hole defect and an excessive slip.

Electrohydrodynamic 젯 프린팅 시스템을 이용한 Graphene 기반 Graphene/Ag-grid 하이브리드 투명 전극의 특성연구

  • 본 연구에서는 Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) 젯 프린팅 시스템을 이용하여 graphene이 올려져 있는 유연성 있는 PET 기판 위에 Ag 용액을 그리드로 간격에 따라 타진하였다. Ag 그리드 간격을 200 um, 300 um, 400 um, 500 um로 증가시켰으며, 이때 UV/Vis spectrometry, four-point probe를 이용하여 전기적, 광학적 특성을 분석하였다. Graphene/Ag-grid 하이브리드 투명전극은 그리드 간격 400 um에서 21Ohm/sq.의 면저항과 550 nm에서 84.08%의 투과도를 확인하였다. 또한, graphene/Ag-grid 하이브리드 투명전극의 기계적 응력에 따른 전기적 안정성을 알아보기 위해 radius에 따른 bending, fatigue test와 twist bending, rolling test를 진행하였다. Fatigue bending은 speed 30 mm/s, outer bending radius 20 mm, inner bending radius 22.5 mm로 bending test를 5000번 진행하였으며, twist bending, rolling test를 각각 10000번 진행하였다. 이 결과를 통해 bending-release cycle 조건에서도 초기저항 대비 5% 이내의 매우 우수한 전기적 안정성을 나타냄을 확인하였다. 이러한 graphene/Ag-grid 하이브리드 투명전극의 우수한 특성을 얻음으로써, graphene 박막의 플렉시블 투명전극으로서의 적용가능성을 타진할 수 있었다.

TiNi/A16061 형상기억복합재료의 피로균열진전에 대한 냉간압연효과 (Effect of Cold Rolling on Fatigue Crack Propagation of TiNi/A16061 Shape Memory Composite)

  • TiNi alloy fiber was used to recover the original shape of materials using its shape memory effect. The shape memory alloy plays an important role within the metal matrix composite. The shape memory alloy can control the crack propagation in metal matrix composite, and improve the tensile strength of the composite. In this study, TiNi/A16061 shape memory alloy(SMA) composite was fabricated by hot press method, and pressed by a roller for its strength improvement. The four kinds of specimens were fabricated with $0\%,\;3.2\%,\;5.2\%\;and\;7\%$ and volume fraction of TiNi alloy fiber, respectively. A fatigue test has performed to evaluate the crack initiation and propagation for the TiNi/A16061 SMA composite fabricated by かis method. In order to study the shape memory effect of the TiNi alloy fiber, the test has also done under both conditions of the room temperature and high temperature. The relationship between the crack growth rate and the stress intensity factor was clarified for the composite, and the cold rolling effect was also studied.
