  • Railway stations are functional buildings. Their primarily role is to help passengers or freights complete their trip safely, easily, comfortably, and to improve the railway operating system. However, some urban stations are lately taking the form of what is called a station complex, and some regional stations are being constructed together with local public facilities. Roles of railway station are changing. Therefore, meeting user, railway operator, local resident, and government needs, roles of railway station would include multi-functional complex, high quality terminal, community center.

  • The paper describes a new type of robot called "artificial liferobot" which is able to learn, make decisions, and behave by itself based on a brain-type computing technique called "artificial brain". The artificial liferobot has self-learning ability from the environment by the interactions between human being and it. The artificial brain makes the artificial liferobot to behave by itself with its intensions like living things as human being. We briefly introduce one attempt of our researches for developing cognitive and behavioral intelligent artificial liferobot in out laboratory. One of our purposes is the development of the artificial liferobot, which plays an Important role in taking care of elderly and infirm people in a rapidly aging society.

  • As economy and population have been growing, air pollution problems both in local and regional scale came to the surface in East Asia in last decades. In addition to urban problems, regional air pollution is also becoming a big issue international concern. Urban and regional air pollution issues are closely related and we have to tackle the problem by understanding underlying scientific reality and taking a strategic approach to mitigation. (omitted)

  • This study is mainly concerned with providing a basis for children's prosocial behavior development. The objective of this study is to investigate the factors affecting children's prosocial behavior. The Main two factors affecting children's prosocial behavior development are home environmental and social cognitive ability, and concrete variables in these factors are as follows : 1) Home environmental factor; parental warmth, parental restrictiveness and inductive reasoning and prosocial modeling. 2) Social cognitive factor ; children's role taking ability and empathic ability and with these, several situational variables are also concerned with prosocial behavior.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between drug-related knowledge, sick role behavior and quality of life of patients on wafarin therapy in an outpatient unit. Methods: The participants were 122 patients. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation. Results: The Duration of wafarin averaged $28.80{\pm}32.99$ months, and 78.7% of participants remembered their blood coagulation value. The mean score for drug-related knowledge was 11.32 points out of a possible 13 points. Sick role behavior of the patients showed a moderate value with a mean of 49.83 points out of 68 points. The mean score for quality of life was rather low at 104.43 out of 175. Drug-related knowledge was significantly correlated to sick role behavior (r=0.39, p<.001), but the relationship between sick role behavior and quality of life was not significant. Also drug-related knowledge was not significantly correlated with quality of life. Conclusion: The resultsindicate that there is a need to enhance the level of drug-related knowledge in order to increase positive behavior as part of the sick role of these patients and thus improve quality of life.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects on weight of premature infants when Yakson therapy was conducted by mothers and also to measure role confidence and role satisfaction of the mothers. Method: A non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design was used. The data were collected from January to July, 2005. Thirty preform infants and mothers were assigned to either an experimental (15) or a control group (15). Yakson therapy consists of three phases: laying on of hands, caressing by hands, and laying on of hands again, each phase taking 5 minutes. Yakson therapy was provided to infants in the experimental group for 15-minutes 5 times a day far 15 days. Infant weight, mothers' role confidence and satisfaction with role were measured for both groups. Results: Compared to the control group, weight gain of infants in the experimental group (t=2.05, p=.049) was significantly increased after 15 days. The experimental group also had significantly higher scores in mothers'.ole confidence (t=1.98, p=.038). Conclusion: The results suggest that Yakson therapy can be used to increase weight gain in preform infants and improve the role confidence of mothers.

  • IISO/IEC 9594-8 defines the public key framework and attribute certificate framework. Attribute certificate framework deals with privilege management infrastructure(PMI). In PMI, for privilege management using attribute certificates, role assignment certificates and role specification certificates are used to assign and specify privileges independently. Role specification certificates includes privilege specifications and the details far privilege management of network environments. Privilege management of unreliable network environment tries to enhance the reliability and efficiency of privilege information transmission forwarding over unreliable routes in the presence of potentially faulty nodes and edges. Each node forms a role specification tree based on role specification relationship data collected from the network. In this paper privilege management cost with the role specification certificates tree structure is evaluated trying to reduce the overhead incurred by role creation and modification of privileges. The multicasting of packets are used for scalability. We establish management cost model taking into account the packet loss and node reliability which continuously join and leave for network. We present quantitative results which demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed privilege management scheme.

  • Role models are also known to influence an individual's job or career choice. The positive effect of role models on entrepreneurship has already been revealed through many precious researches. It is said that people choose not only family members who are related by blood, such as parents, siblings, and relatives, but also acquaintances whom they have met through social relationships as role models. In this study, we divided into entrepreneurs with no role models other than themselves and entrepreneurs with role models. In addition, we classified parental siblings and relative role models as role models with strong ties, and acquaintance role models as role models with weak ties. We analyzed the differences in personal attributes, entrepreneurial orientation factors, and learning orientation between the entrepreneurs with role models and those without role models. Also, the differences in personal attributes, innovativeness, proactiveness, risk-taking propensity, and learning orientation between the entrepreneurs with strong ties role models and those with weak ties role models were examined. The empirical analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that the proportion of women entrepreneurs without role models is higher. Second, the entrepreneurs with role models with weak ties tend to run larger scale start-ups. Third, it was found that the entrepreneurs with role models of weak ties tend to have higher learning orientation. Fourth, gender shows the greatest influence on th absence or presence of role models. Fifth, it was found that learning orientation and startup size have the greatest influence on the decision of the role model with weak ties or that with strong ties.

  • Cell cycle is regulated cooperatively by several genes. The dynamic regulatory mechanism of protein interaction network of cell cycle will be presented taking the budding yeast as a sample system. Based on the mathematical model developed by Chen et at. (MBC, 11,369), at first, the dynamic role of the feedback loops is investigated. Secondly, using a bifurcation diagram, dynamic analysis of the cell cycle regulation is illustrated. The bifurcation diagram is a kind of ‘dynamic road map’ with stable and unstable solutions. On the map, a stable solution denotes a ‘road’ attracting the state and an unstable solution ‘a repelling road’ The ‘START’ transition, the initiation of the cell cycle, occurs at the point where the dynamic road changes from a fixed point to an oscillatory solution. The 'FINISH' transition, the completion of a cell cycle, is returning back to the initial state. The bifurcation analysis for the mutants could be used uncovering the role of proteins in the cell cycle regulation network.

  • The purpose of this research was to examine variables contributing to the father's role performance. The study has been designed to measure the quantitative(i.e. amount of involvement) and the qualitative(i.e. depth of affection/care) values in their modes of child-rearing practices by taking a clouter look at the father's views on their careers and on offspring. Subjects were 516 fathers of school-age children. Analyzing the factors that determine the quantitative and qualitative aspects of child-rearing practices by the fathers, the sense of fulfillment/value in life is the decisive factor behind the affection(i.e. qualitative) in the child-rearing practices. The resets indicated that the father's perceptions on their careers and on their children constitute the critical factors behind the qualitative and quantitative aspects of child-rearing practices, albeit holding such factors as the parents'working hour or as mothers with outside jobs under control.
