Methods: The participants included 149 main caregivers from two pediatric hospitals whose children have been hospitalized for at least 2 days at children's hospital. The data were collected from August 1 to september 30, 2013 using self-report questionnaires of checklist type for caregivers' role and Likert scale for role burden. Results: Role for hospitalized children showed that personal hygiene was the highest, and consultation with nurses and doctors was the lowest in total frequency per day. Of the role for the caregivers themselves and family, personal hygiene was the highest, and home management was the lowest. The degree of role burden perceived by hospitalized children's caregivers was the slightly high. Of the categories, emotional burden was the highest and dependent burden was the lowest. There were differences by caregivers' age, children's age, and children's health status. Conclusion: The caregivers performed various roles, especially more frequently on personal hygiene and nutrition for their hospitalized children and themselves and family, and had slightly high role burden. These results may contribute to develop nursing interventions that can help adapt on hospitalization of children and their caregivers.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine factors affecting the burden on employment of occupational health care providers as well as to develop strategies to reduce burden on employment of them in the middle size manufacturing enterprises. Methods: The target population of this study was 123 managers working in the middle size manufacturing enterprises. The study questionnaires were selected, as theories and literature suggested, for explaining employment burden, general characteristics of participants and occupational health providers, general characteristics of companies, evaluation of occupational health provider's role and burden score. Results: The mean of employment burden score of manager was 2.2. There was a significant difference in the employment burden scores, manager's age and education, and occupational health provider's age, type of work, certification, and employment status. Also there was a negative relationship between employment burden scores and occupational health provider's role scores (need, role, satisfaction, and benefit). In the results of the standard multiple regression analysis, manager's need scores on occupational health providers were significant predictors of the employment burden scores. Conclusion: It is necessary to change the manager's perception to promote employment of occupational health providers.

  • Purpose: In this study factors affecting quality of life in mothers who have children with precocious puberty were identified. Methods: The participants were 102 mothers of children with precocious puberty. From September 12 to September 30, 2016, data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 22.0. Results: Regression analysis showed that the model's explanatory power was 45%(F=28.71, p<.001). Role stress (t=-4.83, p<.001), objective burden (t=-2.71, p<.001), and average monthly income (t=4.12, p<.001) were factors affecting quality of life among these mothers. The most influential factor was role stress (${\beta}=-.41$), which showed a negative correlation. Conclusion: Role stress and objective burden were major factors that decreased the quality of life in these. The findings indicate that effective strategy programs for reducing role stress and objective burden are necessary to improve the quality of life in mothers of children with precocious puberty.

  • This paper reviews researches related with the elderly caregiving, which hale published during the 1990s. After analyzingthe 29 articles in this field, the major findings are as follows: First, the advantageous position in life chances which is consisted of socioeconomic status and resources tends to reduce th burden for the elderly care. The higher in social status, the more resources older adults have, the more advantageous in controlling their relationship with their children and caregivers. Second, values based on familism is more associated with providing caregiving services for their parents than those of filial piety. Third, the tendency that daughter-in-law takes the role of the primary caregiver suggests a possibility of diminishing her enthusiasm, and finally comes to recognize her role as an enforced one, as time goes by. Fourth, cargiving burden affects the diverse aspects of caregiver's way of life. When the lower class elderly has dementia, caregiving stress and hassle have reached at their peak level. For meeting the needs of reducing the burden for the elderly care, this study suggests community- based approach for the elderly care. This approach attempts to share the caregiving burden with local community. To share the burden means that the boundaries of caregivers does not limit family members, but to expand community. This attempt includes a plan that establishes multipurpose community center which provides comprehensive services and care for the aged. The theoretical rationale of this approach are also discussed.

Interviews were analyzed using three phenomenological methods ; Giorgi's, Colazzi's, and Van Kaam's. The results are as follows. : The experience of family the analyzed using Giorgi's method showed different characteristics according to the family members' role. According to Colaizzi's method, they experienced burden, a willingness to care, role conflict, thanks to family and significant others, and ambivalence about treatment. Using Van Kaam's methodology, two categories were identified ; change of family function and burden. Themes in change of family function were positive attitude(9), role conflict(6), negative attitude(5), active attitude(2), and passive attitude(2) ; Themes in burden were emotional burden, physical burden, and economic burden. The result from using Giorgi's method were centered or individual characteristics and these results constituteds situational structured description and a general structured description. From Colaizzi's method the focus was on the common experience of all fo the subjects. In Van Kaam's method, subthemes (13), themes(8), and categories(2) were identified. So researchers should choose the qualitative method according to their research goals and methodological characteristics.

  • When women are removed with their matrix which is a emotionally significant organ of symbol in psychologically adapting themselves to mother and woman, that is threatened and injured with woman role decisively. The nursing for women with hysterectomy is limited to medical treatment and the nursing related to troubles in psychology, emotion they experience in general situation due to operations is hardly realized. New basis for nursing can be realized when we both have relation with lived human experience related th health and become to be a part of it. We need to catch their experience due to the loss of matrix to understand women with hysterectomy. The subjects of the study were nine patients who were admitted to a gynecological ward of a hospital in Seoul, suffering from vaginal bleeding, back pain, abdominal pain and so on and diagnosing as non-cancer. The data were collected from April to May 1997 by listening to the subjects' expression of their experience and by participant observation of the subjects' reactions. A tape-recorder was used under the permission of the subjects, to prevent the loss of spoken information. The result of the study was as follows : The data on burden content from the interview were categorized as psych-emotional, physical, personal interaction, financial burden and maternal role burden. The factors which have influence on the burden of the subjects are an offer of information, support system, age, occupation, economic situation, family history, character, season, the existence of ovary and religion. In conclusion, since we ascertained that the nursing in the process of recovery decide the quality of life, though women with hysterectomy undergo various burden experience and adapt to it in the end, it is necessary to give them enough information and educate husband, having on important effect on the burden experience, to be a good supporter. And technically skilled nurses of consultant are thought to be able to contrive better qualitative life of women with hysterectomy as an important bridge between the subjects and their required information, since the nurses have their well-formed position of relationship of confidence through continuous contact with patients and their family.

The highest scores was for reassurance of worth. The lowest score was for opportunity for nuturance. Most of the 15 mothers received the greatest amount of support from their sisters, spouse, friends, neighbors, relations, priest were perceived as eaningful resource person. 4. The correlation coefficient of burden and social support was somewhat negative correlation but no statistical significance(r=-.072). Therefore, a further study is necessary to repeat the qualitative research for exploring factor to be affected family caregiver's burden according to disease proceeding stage. On the basis of the results from this study, future research will be promoted valid and reliable tool development. Through this study, nurses understand and assess the individual psychologic burden and further it would be recommendated to produce professional education program for pediatric oncologic specialist nurse.
