Although a number of constitutive models have been proposed to define the behavior of geotechnical materials including elastic, plastic, and dynamic response, flew numerical models have been developed for the cyclic shear behavior of rock joints or interfaces. Such realistic constitutive models play an important role in analyzing and predicting the response of joints under dynamic loads. The purpose of this research is to verify the constitutive model modified for rough granite joints based on Disturbed State Concept(DSC) model, which has been successfully verified with respect to other materials such as dry sand-steel interface and wet sand-concrete interface. Furthermore, DSC model is compared and verified with respect to cyclic shear tests and numerical analysis results based on Plesha model. Based on the results of this research, it can be stated that DSC model is capable of characterizing the cyclic shear behavior of rough granite joints under dynamic loads.

Application of 3D laser scanner to civil engineering is widely studied in various fields such as tunnel, bridge, calculation of earth volume, construction measurement, observation of rock joint, etc. Some studies on utilization of the 3D laser scanner for calculating the over-break and/or under-break of tunnels have also been carried out. However, in the previous research, the scanning data were usually compared with the 2D CAD blueprint results; although the shape of tunnel structure is relatively simple, for precise calculation of the over-break and/or under-break of tunnels, three-dimensional analysis based on BIM is needed. Therefore, in this paper, a new program that calculates the over-break and/or under-break of tunnels using the 3D laser scanner and the BIM is developed; moreover the effective and rapid process of data treatment is proposed. The accuracy of the developed program was verified by applying the new system to a real tunnels construction field.

Statement of problem: Implant inclination and cantilever loading increse loads distributed to implants, potentially causing biomechanical complications. Controversy exists regarding the effect of the intentionally distal-inclined implant for the reduction of the cantilever length. Purpose: This study investigated the stress distribution at the bone/implant interface and prostheses with 3D finite element stress analysis by using four different cantilever lengths and implant inclinations in a mandibular implant-supported bar overdenture. Material and methods: Four 3-D finite element models were created in which 4 implants were placed in the interforaminal area and had four different cantilver lengths(10, 6.9, 4 and 1.5mm) and distal implant inclinations$(0^{\circ},\;15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}\;and\;45^{\circ})$ respectively. Vortical forces of 120N and oblique forces of 45N were applied to the molar area. Stress distribution in the bone around the implant was analysed under different distal implant inclinations. Results: Analysis of the von Mises stresses for the bone/implant interfaces and prostheses revealed that the maximum stresses occurred at the most distal bone/implant interface and the joint of bar and abutment, located on the loaded side and significantly incresed with the implant inclinations, especially over $45^{\circ}$. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it was suggested that too much distal inclination over 45 degrees can put the implant at risk of overload and within the dimension of the constant sum of a anterior-posterior spread and cantilever length, a distal implant inclination compared to cantilever length had the much larger effect on the stress distribution at the bone/implant interface.

Ground subsidence has occurred in the downtown of Muan-eup in Korea. Integrated geophysical survey, including two-dimensional resistivity, CSMT(Controlled source magnetotelluric), magnetic, borehole logging, GPR and resistivity tomography, has been conducted to investigate the cause of subsidence and ground conditions. Since the target area is in the city downtown, there were no spaces for surface geophysical methods. To get regional geology and to facilitate the detailed geophysical interpretation in the survey area, two-dimensional resistivity, CSMT and magnetic surveys have been applied in the outer region of the downtown. From these results, we could accurately define the Gwangju fault system and estimate the geologic conditions in the downtown. For the detailed survey of the downtown area, resistivity tomography and borehole logging data have been acquired using a few tens of densely located boreholes. Among these survey results, borehole logging data provided the guide to classification of the rock type and we could define the geologic boundary of granite and limestone formations. From the resistivity tomograms of 42 sections, which are densely located enough to be interpreted in a three-dimensional manner, we could delineate the possible weak zones or cavities in the limestone formations. In particular, resistivity tomograms in the subsided area showed the real image of ground subsidence. The map of hazardous zone has been derived from the joint interpretation of these survey results and we could provide the possible reinforcement strategy in this area.
In this study, 120 cases of damage due to ground subsidence of city gas pipeline which is hanging on apartment outer wall were investigated. From the survey results, it was determined to be approximately 100m~200mm ground subsidence occurred and at severe damage, pipeline was cut and the gap was about 50mm between two cut pipeline. Device for measuring the amount of deformation of standing gas pipeline was designed and fabricated. And installed it on apartment outer wall for measuring the deformation due to ground subsidence, after 5 months measurement the amount of ground subsidence was measured to 1.3mm. Stress assessment was conducted based on results of ground subsidence occurred on standing gas pipeline.

This study attempts to characterize Taebaek mountainous region as a natural unit, relating to morphoclimatic milieu and landform development patterns of the mountains of each lithologic type. In the case of granitic mountains of Nothern parts of this region, the slopes presents more or less steep or irregular profile because of abundant microforms of exposed bedrocks and blocks. The development of such landscape is essentially due to differential weathering, associated with difference of joint density. In the case of gneissic mountains, the slopes are well regularized straight steep ones, due not only to generalized superficial weathering but also to massmovement of weathered materials. In the Middle parts of this region, especially in Taegwallyong area, with frequent alternations both of freezing-thawing and of snow accumulation-melting, the roles played by cryo-nival processes proved to be important in weathering of granite as well as in morpho-pedogenesis. In this area, weathered mantle, developed by cryogenic activity under humid condition of nival environment, covered almost all over the slopes. Although Southern parts of this region consist of limestone, on the mountainous volume, distribution of Karst forms are limited while predominate none karst forms such as cockpit type peaks, V-shaped type valleys dissecting steep slopes covered with thin deposits in thickness containing rock debris.
The study was performed as a part of 3-D exploration project of the South Con Son basin, where Korea National Oil Co. (KNOC) and SHELL Company are performing joint operation. In the structurally complex area, seismic facies or lap-out patterns, which are usually the tools for the conventional seismic stratigraphy developed by Exxon Group (Vail et at., 1977), are not easily identifiable. Therefore, stratigraphic informations are mainly extracted from seismic attribute maps of each sequence or systems tracts, and isopach maps in correlation with the stratigraphic information from the wells. The attribute maps of the sequence or systems tract boundaries and isopach map describe the variations of paleodepositional environments. The shape of the attribute maps of the boundaries is a reasonable description of the shape of the paleodepositional surface. With other maps such as isopach and structural maps, the variations of the parasequences in the systems tracts can be projected using the surface attribute maps. The reflection intensity attribute at each sequence or system tract boundary can be related to lithology, facies or porosity distributions. The azimuth attribute of source rock sequence can be used to identify the hydrocarbon migration patterns into the prospects. The overall risks of reservoir rocks, cap rocks, structure and hydrocarbon migrations were computed using the results of the study.
In this paper, design and implementation of multi-modular robots of similar structure to the arthropods for rock path driving. Each module corresponds to an arthropod joint, which has an independent power supply and control equipment including drive and short-range Zigbee wireless communication that were implemented. On various directions and paths each module has the same driving direction and each module is controlled to operate or not by wireless communication. Depending on path condition, each module calculate the speed and torque and depending on the slope of a rough path, the number of active modules can be changed for the efficient driving on a variety of roads conditions. Experimental driving through rough road model, variable multi-module robot is implemented.
We have a question about the changing possibility of orientation of discontinuities through the depth of under-ground. To know this, the data from Honam coalfield composed of shale, sandstone and coal and Suwon area which crops out mica schist, were analyzed the discontinuities measured by BIPS and Televiewer. In Honam coalfield the orientations of joints are changed at 30-40 m depth of underground and in Suwon area they are changed around 20 m depth. To compared the results from Honanam coalfield and Suwon area, there are different rock type and geologic structure. However, the attitude of the discontinuities are changing at 20-30 m depth of underground.
In this study, the effects of fracture tensor component and first invariant on block hydraulic behaviors are evaluated in the 2-D DFN(discrete fracture network) systems. A series of regression analysis is performed between connected fracture tensor components and block hydraulic conductivities estimated at every $30^{\circ}$ hydraulic gradient directions for a total of 36 DFN systems having various joint density and size distribution. The directional block hydraulic conductivity seems to have strong relation with the fracture tensor component estimated in direction perpendicular to it. It is found that an equivalent continuum approach could be acceptable for the 2-D DFN systems under condition that the first invariant of fracture tensor is more than 2.0~2.5. The first invariant of fracture tensor seems highly correlated with average block hydraulic conductivity and can be used to evaluate hydraulic characteristics of the 2-D DFN systems. Also, a possibility of upscaling using the first invariant of fracture tensor for the DFN system is addressed through this study.
