  • Watermark insertion methods on low frequency subbands in wavelet transform image are robust in attacks, but become reduction of invisibility. And watermark insertion methods on high frequency subbands have a good visibility, but are weak in attack. In this paper, we propose the method that improve invisibility and robustness of watermarks according as we adaptively control insertion intensity by using subband characteristics and perceptual weights. Experimental result, we show that the proposed method has excellent of invisibility and robustness more than the conventional method, according as it is improved with $1.7dB{\sim}2.6dB$ in invisibility, and is improved with $0.2{\sim}12.9$ in similarity measurement.

  • The robot control with safety consideration is required since robots and human work together in the same space more frequently in these days. For safety, robots must have compliance to human force and robust tracking performance with high impednace for the nonhuman disturbances. The novel idea is proposed to achieve the compliance and high impedance with one controller structure. For the compliance, the ISMC(Integral Sliding Mode Control) and HDOB(Human Disturbance Observer) The human force is identified by using the human band pass filter and its output is sent to the sliding surface. The sliding mode dynamic is affected by human disturbance and the compliance for human is achieved. The disturbances besides human frequencies are decoupled by the ISMC and the robust tracking is achieved. The additional LDOB(Low Frequency Disturbance Observer) decreases the maxim nonlinear gain and leads low chattering. The introduction of human disturbance into the sliding mode dynamic is the main novel idea of this paper.

  • With the purpose of copyright protection for digital video, a novel H.264/AVC watermarking algorithm based on JND model is proposed. Firstly, according to the characteristics of human visual system, a new and more accurate JND model is proposed to determine watermark embedding strength by considering the luminance masking, contrast masking and spatial frequency sensitivity function. Secondly, a new embedding strategy for H.264/AVC watermarking is proposed based on an analysis on the drift error of energy distribution. We argue that more robustness can be achieved if watermarks are embedded in middle and high components of $4{\times}4$ integer DCT since these components are more stable than dc and low components when drift error occurs. Finally, according to different characteristics of middle and high components, the watermarks are embedded using different algorithms, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed watermarking algorithm not only meets the imperceptibility and robustness requirements, but also has a high embedding capacity.

  • In this paper. we propose a digital watermarking method for still images in the discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain. The adaptive watermark insertion method in the high frequency region within a given image is employed to increase the invisibility of the inserted watermark in images, in which variable block-size method is used for selection of the high frequency region. Experimental results show that the proposed watermarking method is robust to several common image processing techniques. including joint photographic experts group (JPEG) compression, lowpass filtering, multiple watermarking, and croppIng.

  • In this paper, we present a new control structure which is obtained by adding an appropriately designed filter to a conventional disturbance observer. The proposed controlled system preserves advantages of a system with the conventional disturbance observer; disturbance rejection and nominal performance recovery. In particular, by embedding the filter, the disturbance rejection performance is enhanced compared with that of the classical disturbance observer-based controlled system. Moreover, we suggest a condition for the robust internal stability of the considered system in this paper. Simulation results regarding an effect of relatively high-frequency disturbance on hard disk drive are also presented.

  • Hysteresis controllers are intrinsically robust to system parameters, exhibit very high dynamic response and are suitable for simple implementation. But the current control using a conventional hysteresis controller has the disadvantage that high switching frequency may happen due to lack of coordination among individual hysteresis controllers of three phases. This will of course increase the switching loss. In addition, the current error is not strictly limited. So, in this paper to reduce the switching frequency, a double band hysteresis current controller is proposed. The presented control system was tested with digital simulation in the Borland C++ program and demonstrate the advantage of proposed hysteresis current controller.

  • This study proposes a modified sub-aperture stitching algorithm, which uses an image sharpening algorithm and particle swarm optimization to improve the stitching accuracy. In sub-aperture stitching interferometers with high positional accuracy, the high-frequency components of measurements are more important than the low-frequency components when compensating for position errors using a sub-aperture stitching algorithm. Thus we use image sharpening algorithms to strengthen the high-frequency components of measurements. When using image sharpening algorithms, sub-aperture stitching algorithms based on the least-squares method easily become trapped at locally optimal solutions. However, particle swarm optimization is less likely to become trapped at a locally optimal solution, thus we utilized this method to develop a more robust algorithm. The results of simulations showed that our algorithm compensated for position errors more effectively than the existing algorithm. An experimental comparison with full aperture-testing results demonstrated the validity of the new algorithm.

  • Stall inception in a high-speed centrifugal compressor has been examined. The main objective was to find stall precursor and to develop a reliable stall warning method. For stall warning, a method which uses the spectrum at impeller frequency is suggested. The use of the spectrum at impeller frequency as a stall warning method showed a warning time of about two hundreds impeller revolutions. This method uses only one sensor that it has made the stall warning method more useful. And the well-known traveling wave energy method proved to be a good method for stall warning also in a high-speed centrifugal compressor. The warning time was about one hundred impeller revolutions at lower speeds, and about one thousand impeller revolutions at higher speeds. The stall warning methods used here were found to be robust and reliable. Therefore, it seems to be promising to set up a reliable stall avoidance control based on this analysis.

  • In this paper. Ive propose a postprocessing technique based on the theory of projection on convex sets(POCS) to reduce the blocking artifacts in HDTV decoded images. In BDCT of HDTV. the image is divided into a grid of non-overlapped 8 ${\times}$ 8 blocks. and then each block is coded separately. A block which is located one pixel apart from the grid of BDCT will include the boundary of the original 8 ${\times}$ 8 block. If the blocking artifact is Introduced alone the block boundary. this block will have different frequency characteristic from that of the original block. Thus, a comparison of frequency characteristics of these two overlapping blocks can detect the undesired high-frequency components mainly caused by the blocking artifact. By eliminating these undesired high-frequency components adaptively, robust smoothing projection operator can be obtained. Simulation results with real image sequences indicate that the proposed method performs better than conventional algorithms.

  • Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are comprised of wireless mobile nodes characterized by a randomly changing topology, high mobility, availability of geographic position, and fewer power constraints. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising candidate for the physical layer of VANET because of the inherent characteristics of the spectral efficiency and robustness to channel impairments. The susceptibility of OFDM to Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) is a challenging issue. The high mobility of nodes in VANET causes higher Doppler shifts, which results in ICI in the OFDM system. In this paper, a frequency domain com-btype channel estimation was used to cancel out ICI. The channel frequency response at the pilot tones was estimated using a Least Square (LS) estimator. An efficient interpolation technique is required to estimate the channel at the data tones with low interpolation error. This paper proposes a robust interpolation technique to estimate the channel frequency response at the data subcarriers. The channel induced noise tended to degrade the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of the system. Parallel concatenated Convolutional codes were used for error correction. At the decoding end, different decoding algorithms were considered for the component decoders of the iterative Turbo decoder. A performance and complexity comparison among the various decoding algorithms was also carried out.
