This paper illustrates the practical design procedure on a position control of an electrical fin actuator for the guided missile using Time Delay Control(TDC) and Enhanced Time Delay Observer(ETDO). Since TDC is robust to the model uncertainties such as the parameter variation and the external disturbance, it has been frequently used in nonlinear control systems. For a position control of an electrical fin actuator in the missile system, TDC requires the velocity sensor as well as the position sensor. To resolve the problems of the cost, the space and the malfunction due to the velocity sensor, ETDO is used as the velocity observer. ETDO is enhanced version of TDO that has the problems of the reconstruction errors and the restriction on selecting its gains. To maximize the control performance, the parameters of ETDO are optimized by using the genetic algorithm. The effectiveness of this approach is proved through a series of simulation studies and experiments, and the designed controller is compared with the typical TDC and TDC using the reduced oder observer.

This paper investigates the design of disturbance observer for rotational vibration suppression in disk drive systems. The design aims to provide an optimal controller which satisfies both vibration performance and robust stability. It consists of an inversion method, a special filter, and optimization scheme. Firstly a new inversion method is introduced, which provides more accurate inversion compared to conventional zero phase error method. The inversion is to deal with unstable zeros in the plant model. Secondly a special filter for disturbance selection is given, which features adjustable gain and band pass characteristics so that it enables flexible shaping of the loop considering the trade-off between performance and stability margins. And finally the parameters of disturbance observer are optimized in conjunction with external disturbance model. Simulation and experiment on commercial hard disk drives confirm that the design is very effective to such disturbance which is hard to be handled by conventional approach.
In this paper, a new discrete integral static output feedback variable structure controller based on the a new integral dynamic-type sliding surface and output feedback discrete version of the disturbance observer is suggested for the control of uncertain linear systems. The reaching phase is completely removed by introducing a new proposed integral dynamic-type sliding surface. The output feedback discrete version of disturbance observer is presented for effective compensation of uncertainties and disturbance. A corresponding control with disturbance compensation is selected to guarantee the quasi sliding mode on the predetermined integral dynamic-type sliding surface for guaranteeing the designed output in the integral dynamic-type sliding surface from any initial condition for all the parameter variations and disturbances. Using discrete Lyapunov function, the closed loop stability and the existence condition of the quasi sliding mode is proved. Finally, an illustrative example is presented to show the effectiveness of the algorithm.
To operate in real environment, humanoid robots should be able to react to unknown disturbances. To deal with disturbances, various robust control algorithms have been developed for decades. But for collaborative works such as teleoperation system, a compliance control can be the better solution for disturbance reactions. In this paper, a center of mass (CoM) compliance control algorithm for humanoid robots is proposed. The proposed algorithm is based on the state observer and positive feedback of disturbance. With the state observer based on humanoid CoM control performance model, disturbance in each direction can be observed. The positive feedback of disturbances to the reference CoM trajectory enables compliant motion. The main contributions of this algorithm are achieving compliance independently in each axis and maintaining balance against external force. Through dynamic simulations, the performance of the proposed method was demonstrated. Under two types of disturbance conditions, humanoid robot DYROS-JET reacted with compliant motion via the proposed algorithm.
This paper presents a robust position tracking controller for a motor used in semiconductor equipment, utilizing the motor angle measurement. Precise position control is challenging due to the presence of uncertainties in various motor applications. The proposed controller consists of a PD (Proportional-Derivative) controller and a PIO (Proportional-Integral Observer) to estimate the system's state and equivalent disturbance compensating for the uncertainties. Since the stability alternates as the observer gain increases, we have investigated it through the closedloop root locus under the system parameters change. The analysis has showed that the inertia of the motor is the main parameter that affects it, and by adjusting the control gain appropriately, the system can be rendered to be stable even when the inertia of the motor changes. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is validated through computer simulations, followed by a comparison of its performance with the results of a previous study.
For precisely regulating the speed of a permanent magnet synchronous motor system with unknown load torque disturbance and disturbance inputs, an LMI-based sliding mode control scheme is proposed in this paper. After a brief review of the PMSM mathematical model, the sliding mode control law is designed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). By adding an extended observer which estimates the unknown load torque, the proposed speed tracking controller can guarantee a good control performance. The stability of the proposed control system is proven through the reachability condition and an approximate method to implement the chattering reduction is also presented. The proposed control algorithm is implemented by using a digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F28335. The simulation and experimental results verify that the proposed methodology achieves a more robust performance and a faster dynamic response than the conventional linear PI control method in the presence of PMSM parameter uncertainties and unknown external noises.

Considering the guidance and control problem of the near space interceptor (NSI) during the terminal course, this paper proposes a three-channel independent integrated guidance and control (IGC) scheme based on the backstepping sliding mode and finite time disturbance observer (FTDO). Initially, the three-channel independent IGC model is constructed based on the interceptor-target relative motion and nonlinear dynamic model of the interceptor, in which the channel coupling term and external disturbance are regarded as the total disturbances of the corresponding channel. Then, the FTDO is introduced to estimate the target acceleration and control system loop disturbances, and the feed-forward compensation term based on the estimated values is employed to effectively remove the effect of disturbances in finite time. Subsequently, the IGC algorithm based on the backstepping sliding mode is also given to obtain the virtual control moment. Furthermore, a robust least-squares weighted control allocation (RLSWCA) algorithm is employed to distribute the previous virtual control moment among the corresponding aerodynamic fins and reaction jets, which also takes into account the uncertainty in the control effectiveness matrix. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed IGC method can obtain the small miss distance and smooth interceptor trajectories.
