  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm for the automatic registration of two rigid parts using multiple 3D sensor systems on a robot. Four sets of structured laser stripe system consisted of a camera and a visible laser stripe is used for the acquisition of 3D information. Detailed procedures including extrinsic calibration among four 3D sensor systems and hand/eye calibration of 3D sensing system on robot arm are presented. We find a best pose using search-based pose estimation algorithm where cost function is proposed by reflecting geometric constraints between sensor systems and target objects. A pose with minimum gap and height difference is found by greedy search. Experimental result using demo system shows the robustness and feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

The system has objectives that can heir efficient management and sharing as support information for mobile service robot like recognition, navigation, manipulation and modeling. This paper introduces the concert and architecture of SRIS. An Implementation is done by using ER based database and CAD modeling which is DXF format. The experimental shows the result of object and environment map matching by SLAM. This system is expected that can help reduce the cost and efforts of information management under multiple mobile robot environment.

  • In this paper, a three-fingered anthropomorphic robot hand, called SKK Robot Hand 1, is presented. By employing a two-DOF joint mechanism, called Double Active Universal Joint (abbreviated as DAUJ from now on) as its metacarpal joint, the hand makes it possible to mimic humanlike motions. We begin with addressing the motivation of the design and mention how the anthropomorphic feature of a human is realized in the design of SKK Hand I Also, the mechanism of the hand is explained in detail, and advantages in its modular design are discussed. The proposed hand is developed for use as a testbed for dextrous manipulation. It is expected to resolve the increasing demand for robotic applications in unstructured environments. We describe its hardware construction as well as the controller structure including the preliminary results of experiments.

  • In this work, we propose a new framework of robot control for a variety of applications to our unstructured everyday environments. Programming robots can be a very time-consuming process and seems almost impossible for ordinary end users. To cope with this, this work is to provide a software framework for building robot application programs automatically, where we have robots learn how to accomplish a commanded task from the object. An integrated sensing and computing tag is embedded into every single object in the environment. In the robot controller, only the basic software libraries for low-level robot motion control are provided from the robot manufacturer. The main contributions of this work is to develop a server platform that we call Omniscient Server that generates the application programs and send them to the robot controller through the network. The object-related information from the object server merges into robot control software to generate a detailed application program based on the task commands from the human. We have built a test bed and demonstrated that a robot can perform a common household task within the proposed framework.

  • In this paper, We design and implement a humanoid robot, With Educational purpose, which can collaborate and communicate with human. We present an affective human-robot communication system for a humanoid robot, D2, which we designed to communicate with a human through dialogue. D2 communicates with humans by understanding and expressing emotion using facial expressions, voice, gestures and posture. Interaction between a human and a robot is made possible through our affective communication framework. The framework enables a robot to catch the emotional status of the user and to respond appropriately. As a result, the robot can engage in a natural dialogue with a human. According to the aim to be interacted with a human for voice, gestures and posture, the developed Educational humanoid robot consists of upper body, two arms, wheeled mobile platform and control hardware including vision and speech capability and various control boards such as motion control boards, signal processing board proceeding several types of sensors. Using the Educational humanoid robot D2, we have presented the successful demonstrations which consist of manipulation task with two arms, tracking objects using the vision system, and communication with human by the emotional interface, the synthesized speeches, and the recognition of speech commands.

  • In this paper presents a new approach to the design and real-time implementation of fuzzy control system based-on digital signal processors(DSP:IMS320C80) in order to improve the precision and robustness for system of industrial robot(Dual-Arm with 8 joint Robot). The need to meet demanding control requirement in increasingly complex dynamical control systems under significant uncertainties, leads toward design of intelligent manipulation robots. The IMS320C80 is used in implementing real time fuzzy control to provide an enhanced motion control for robot manipulators. In this paper, a Self-Organizing Fuzzy Controller(SOFC) for the industrial robot manipulator with a actuator located at the base is studied. A fuzzy logic composed of linguistic conditional statements is employed by defining the relations of input-output variables of the controller. In the synthesis of a FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller), one of the most difficult problems is the determination of linguistic control rules from the human operators. To overcome this difficult SOFC is proposed for a hierarchical control structure consisting of basic and high levels that modify control rules. The proposed SOFC scheme is simple in structure, Int in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Performance of the SOFC is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for a Dual-Arm robot with eight joints.

  • The home service robot supports human beings by performing various kinds of works at home. This paper presents a simple control method for opening a door from the viewpoint of the mobile manipulation. The simulation shows various results of path planning and motion planning for opening a door. The joint trajectories were generated by the simulation system. In general, a six-axis force/torque sensor at an end-effector is needed in order to maintain the static equilibrium of the manipulator. But we show another method. From three components of applied forces which was directly obtained by the three-axis force sensor and three components of applied forces which was indirectly estimated by the joint-torque sensors, all of joint torques that will exactly balance forces at the end-effector in the static situation can be found. It is more practical method than using a six-axis force sensor in a wrist. Experimental results have shown that the opening a door can be realized more effectively from the suggested control method of mobile manipulation.
