  • Guide robots that provide services in public places have recently emerged as a non-face-to-face solution with the spread of COVID-19 and are growing. However, most guide robots provide only the same level of intelligence and the same interaction in different and changing environments. Therefore, its usefulness is limited and customers' interest is quickly lost. To solve this problem, it is necessary to develop social intelligence that can improve the robot's environment and situational awareness performance, and to continuously maintain customer interest by providing personalized and situational services. In this study, we developed guide robot services based on social HRI components that provides multi-modal context-aware. We evaluated service usefulness by measuring user satisfaction and frequency of use of the service through the survey. We analyzed the service quality attributes to identify the differentiating factors of guide robot based on social HRI components.

A Teleoperated Cleaning Robot for a High Radioactive Environment

  • The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has developed a teleoperated cleaning robot for use in the radioactive zone of the isolation room of the Irradiated Material Examination Facility where direct human access to the interior is strictly limited. The teleoperated cleaning robot that was designed to completely eliminate human interaction with the hazardous radioactive contaminants has five remotely replaceable submodules - a mobile module for navigation, a cleaning module for dislodging and sucking contaminated waste, a sensing module for obstacle avoidance, a collection module for storing the acquired waste, and a cover module for protecting the collection module. This cleaning robot is capable of cleaning the contaminated floor surface of the isolation room and collecting loose dry spent nuclear fuel debris and other radioactive waste fixed or scattered on the floor surface. The developed cleaning robot is operated either by a manual control or by autonomous control in conjunction with a graphical simulator, by which the human operator can monitor and intervene the robot performing cleanup tasks in the isolation room. In this paper, we present the mechanical and environmental design considerations and development of the teleoperated cleaning robot for radioactive isolation room use. We also demonstrate its mock-up performance test results from the viewpoint of a remote cleanup operation and remote maintenance.

성격과 친밀도를 지닌 로봇의 일반화된 상황 입력에 기반한 감정 생성 (Robot's Emotion Generation Model based on Generalized Context Input Variables with Personality and Familiarity)

  • For a friendly interaction between human and robot, emotional interchange has recently been more important. So many researchers who are investigating the emotion generation model tried to naturalize the robot's emotional state and to improve the usability of the model for the designer of the robot. And also the various emotion generation of the robot is needed to increase the believability of the robot. So in this paper we used the hybrid emotion generation architecture, and defined the generalized context input of emotion generation model for the designer to easily implement it to the robot. And we developed the personality and loyalty model based on the psychology for various emotion generation. Robot's personality is implemented with the emotional stability from Big-Five, and loyalty is made of familiarity generation, expression, and learning procedure which are based on the human-human social relationship such as balance theory and social exchange theory. We verify this emotion generation model by implementing it to the 'user calling and scheduling' scenario.

모바일-매니퓰레이터 구조 로봇시스템의 안정한 모션제어에 관한연구 (A Study on Stable Motion Control of Mobile-Manipulators Robot System)

  • Since the world has changed to a society of 21st century high-tech industries, the modern people have become reluctant to work in a difficult and dirty environment. Therefore, unmanned technologies through robots are being demanded. Now days, effects such as voice, control, obstacle avoidance are being suggested, and especially, voice recognition technique that enables convenient interaction between human and machines is very important. In this study, in order to conduct study on the stable motion control of the robot system that has mobile-manipulator structure and is voice command-based, kinetic interpretation and dynamic modeling of two-armed manipulator and three-wheel mobile robot were conducted. In addition, autonomous driving of three-wheel mobile robot and motion control system of two-armed manipulator were designed, and combined robot control through voice command was conducted. For the performance experiment method, driving control and simulation mock experiment of manipulator that has two-armed structure was conducted, and for experiment of combined robot motion control which is voice command-based, through driving control, motion control of two-armed manipulator, and combined control based on voice command, experiment on stable motion control of voice command-based robot system that has mobile-manipulator structure was verified.

중학생이 인식하는 학습자-지능형로봇 교사의 관계 형성 요인 (An Exploratory study on Student-Intelligent Robot Teacher relationship recognized by Middle School Students)

  • 본 연구는 중학교 학생이 인식하는 지능형로봇 교사와의 관계형성 요인을 탐색하여 지능형로봇 교사-학습자 간의 관계성을 설명하고자 하였다. 이에, 기존에 개발된 교사-학생 관계 측정 도구를 지능형로봇 교사 맥락에 맞게 재구성하여 283명의 중학교 1학년 학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였다. 이후, SPSS 23과 Amos 21 프로그램을 활용하여 탐색적 요인분석 및 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 중학생이 인식하는 지능형로봇 교사와의 관계형성 요인은 '신뢰감', '유능감', '감정교류', '포용력'이며, 이러한 하위요인들은 중학생이 지능형 로봇과의 관계형성을 설명하는데 근거를 제시하고 있다. 본 연구는 지능형로봇 교사-학습자 간의 유의미한 상호작용 증진을 위한 방안에 대한 논의 뿐 아니라 지능형 로봇을 기반으로 한 교수법을 제시하는 데에도 활용될 수 있을 것이라 판단된다. 또한, 교육용 지능형 로봇 서비스의 이해 및 개발을 지원하는 연구로써 공헌할 것이다. 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 추후 연구에서는 지능형 로봇 교사에 대한 다양한 학교 구성원(교사, 학부모 등)의 인식을 조사하여 교육현장에서의 인간-로봇 상호작용 연구가 계속되어야 할 것이다.

홈서비스로봇의 맵빌딩을 위한 효율적인 휴먼-로봇 상호작용방식에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Efficient Human-Robot Interaction Style for a Map Building Process of a Home-service Robot)

  • 홈서비스로봇은 지능적으로 인간과 상호작용하고 스마트하게 서비스를 제공하기 위해 주변 환경에 대한 충분한 공간정보를 파악하고 있어야 한다. 따라서 인간과 로봇이 공조하여 맵빌딩을 수행할 경우 보다 효율적으로 태스크를 수행하기 위한 상호작용 방식에 대해 연구할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 우선 청소용 로봇의 맵빌딩 태스크를 분석하여 맵빌딩수순(태스크우선/방우선), 표시창 설치(본체/본체+리모컨), 로봇 유도방식(푸쉬방식/풀방식), 피드백 제시양식 (GUI/GUI+TTS)등 4 가지 디자인 요인을 추출하고 그에 대한 잠정적 해결안을 제시하였다. 디자인 요인과 잠정적 해결안을 실험 변인과 수준으로 정의하고 맵빌딩 태스크의 수행도와 행태에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 파악하였다. 이를 위해 총 8종류의 실험용 프로토타입을 제작하고 16명의 가정주부를 대상으로 사용성 평가를 실시하여 실증적인 데이터를 수집하였다. 실험결과 맵빌딩 수순이라는 측면에서는 예상과 같이 태스크우선 방식보다는 방우선 방식에서 우수한 태스크 수행도를 보였다. 표시창 설치라는 디자인 요인에 대해서는 리모컨에 표시창이 부착되어 있는 경우 높은 작업수행도와 주관적 만족도를 나타냈다. 로봇 유도방식 측면에서는 예상과는 달리 풀방식과 푸쉬방식 사이에서 태스크 수행도에 큰 차이를 발견할수 없었고 오히려 푸쉬방식에 대한 높은 주관적 만족도를 나타냈다. 피드백 제시양식에 대한 분석결과에서도 예상과 달리 TTS에 의한 부가적인 조작지침 제시는 부정적 이라는 사실을 발견하였다. 맵빌딩을 통해 환경정보를 취득하기 이전 청소용 로봇의 자율성은 초보적인 상태이기 때문에 사용자는 단지 이동성이 있는 가전제품과 상호작용하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 총체적으로 보아 전통적인 가전제품을 조작할 때 사용되는 리모컨기반 상호작용방식을 청소용 로봇의 빌빌딩 과정에서도 선호하는 것으로 보인다.

PSO를 이용한 휴머노이드 로봇의 최적자세 생성 (Posture Optimization for a Humanoid Robot using Particle Swarm Optimization)

  • 휴머노이드 로봇은 인간-로봇 상호작용에 가장 효과적인 로봇 플랫폼이지만 20개 이상의 관절로 구성되어 있을 만큼 복잡한 구조여서 전통적인 역기구학적 방법으로 안정되면서도 정교한 자세를 생성하기가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 고속 연산최적화 기법인 Particle Swarm Optimization 기법을 사용해서 앞쪽 지면에 놓인 물체를 단측지지 상태로 상체를 굽혀서 왼팔이나 오른팔로 집는 고난도의 자세를 생성하고, 이를 상용 휴머노이드 로봇 플랫폼에 적용하여 검증함으로써 제안 된 방법의 적용 가능성을 확인한다.

무인화 환경 기반의 상점 자동 관리를 위한 지능형 서비스 로봇 시스템 (A Development of Intelligent Service Robot System for Store Management in Unmanned Environment)

  • This paper describes an intelligent service robot system for managing a store in an unmanned environment. The robot can be a good replacement for humans because it is possible to work all day and to remember lots of information. We design a system architecture for configuring many intelligent functions of intelligent service robot system which consists of four layers; a User Interaction Layer, a Behavior Scheduling Layer, a Intelligent Module Layer, and a Hardware Layer. We develop an intelligent service robot 'Part Timer' based on the designed system architecture. The 'Part Timer' has many intelligent function modules such as face detection-recognition-tracking module, speech recognition module, navigation module, manipulator module, appliance control module, etc. The 'Part Timer' is possible to answer the phone and this function gives convenient interface to users.

목표 ZMP 궤적 기반 휴머노이드 로봇 이족보행의 최적 관절궤적 생성 (Optimal Joint Trajectory Generation for Biped Walking of Humanoid Robot based on Reference ZMP Trajectory)

  • Humanoid robot is the most intimate robot platform suitable for human interaction and services. Biped walking is its basic locomotion method, which is performed with combination of joint actuator's rotations in the lower extremity. The present work employs humanoid robot simulator and numerical optimization method to generate optimal joint trajectories for biped walking. The simulator is developed with Matlab based on the robot structure constructed with the Denavit-Hartenberg (DH) convention. Particle swarm optimization method minimizes the cost function for biped walking associated with performance index such as altitude trajectory of clearance foot and stability index concerning zero moment point (ZMP) trajectory. In this paper, instead of checking whether ZMP's position is inside the stable region or not, reference ZMP trajectory is approximately configured with feature points by which piece-wise linear trajectory can be drawn, and difference of reference ZMP and actual one at each sampling time is added to the cost function. The optimized joint trajectories realize three phases of stable gait including initial, periodic, and final steps. For validation of the proposed approach, a small-sized humanoid robot named DARwIn-OP is commanded to walk with the optimized joint trajectories, and the walking result is successful.

모바일 로봇을 위한 저해상도 영상에서의 원거리 얼굴 검출 (Detection of Faces Located at a Long Range with Low-resolution Input Images for Mobile Robots)

  • This paper proposes a novel face detection method that finds tiny faces located at a long range even with low-resolution input images captured by a mobile robot. The proposed approach can locate extremely small-sized face regions of $12{\times}12$ pixels. We solve a tiny face detection problem by organizing a system that consists of multiple detectors including a mean-shift color tracker, short- and long-rage face detectors, and an omega shape detector. The proposed method adopts the long-range face detector that is well trained enough to detect tiny faces at a long range, and limiting its operation to only within a search region that is automatically determined by the mean-shift color tracker and the omega shape detector. By focusing on limiting the face search region as much as possible, the proposed method can accurately detect tiny faces at a long distance even with a low-resolution image, and decrease false positives sharply. According to the experimental results on realistic databases, the performance of the proposed approach is at a sufficiently practical level for various robot applications such as face recognition of non-cooperative users, human-following, and gesture recognition for long-range interaction.
