  • In this study, we try to coincide virtual robot system in an OLP(off-line programming) with actual robot system even though kinematic differences between them are made. The virtual robot in the OLP may be modeled according to kinematics of the actual robot system. However, it is a complicated problem to find exactly all kinematic parameters of actual robot and environment. In this paper, an automated calibration method is proposed In order to find some kinematical parameters which are necessary for the modeling of a robot and environment in the OLP. It is applicable to SCARA robot for assembly task. In this method, a well-marked worktable of environment Is regarded as reference coordinate frame. The robot detects some marks on the worktable through sensors attached to the end-effector. The necessary parameters are calculated from the data of the robot joint variables when the robot detects the mark. The model in the OLP is modified by the parameters.

  • Recently, the importance of the network using Fieldbus is being increased in an implementation of factory automation system. In spite of expanding the concept and products of Fieldbus, it is not widely used yet. This is partly due to the lack of the standard specification and the relatively low performance with respect to the cost. So, in order to expand the usage of the Fieldbus, not only the standardization effort, but. also the increase of performance is needed. In this paper, the method which increases the performance of Fieldbus by reforming of the sensor and the actuator data is thoroughly estimated and evaluated when the assumptions about the real-time characteristics of a robot workcell as an example of the ICCS(Integrated Communication and Control System) are sustained.

  • The sensor data which is measured by Quadruped robot is utilized to recognize the physical environment or other information and to control the posture and walking of robot system. In order to control the robot precisely, high accuracy of sensor data is required, most of these sensors however, belongs to expensive and low-durable products. Moreover, these are exposed excessive load operation in a field condition if it is applied to field robot system. This issue becomes more serious one when the robot system is manufactured as a mass product. As in this context, this study suggests a virtual sensor technology to alternate or assist the main sensor system. This scheme is realized by using back-propagation algorithm of neural network theory, and the quality of estimated sensor data could be improved through the algorithmic and hardware based treatments. This study performs the various trial to identify the effective parameters which effect to the quality and reliability of estimated sensor data and tries to show the possibility of proposed methodology.

  • This paper treats the estimation of human impedance and their application to collaboration work robot. Initially, we performa an experiment at whcich teh human becomes a slave and the robot behaves like a master having F/T sensor on its end. the human impedance expressed interms of mass, damping, and stiffness properties are estimated based on the force data measured by F/T sensor and the positiion data of the robot. To show the effectiveness of the estimated human impedance, we perform the second experiment at which the roles of the human and the robot are reversed. It is shown that the robot using the estimated human impedance follows the trajectory commanded by human very smoothly.

  • In this paperwe develop a real-time simulator for direct drive cooperative robot by using OpenGL in a Windows NT based system. This simulator is composed of 2 parts, a display part and an interface part. In the display part the robot is modelled and rendered in 3D space. To do this OpenGL, a kind of graphic library, is used for rendering and animating robots and kinematics gives the information of the current robot configuration. The control and the feedback data are sent and received via the interface part. In real time simulation interfacing part needs fast data transfer rate and good nosic immunity. In experiment we have simulated 2-link direct drive cooperative robots using the trajectory tracking algorithm proposed in reference.

  • In this paper, a continuous sliding mode controller for robot manipualator is proposed. The proposed scheme guarantees that the tracking error converges to zero maintaining the smoothness of the actual control signal. In order to estimate the acceleration data, a sliding mode observer is used, and the stability of the closed-loop system is shown.

  • In this paper, we describe an sound tracking mobile robot suitable for areas where GPS is not available. Sound sensors are attached to four sides of the robot in order to locate the person in a danger, and the robot is supposed to move to the yelling person. The traveling distance of the mobile robot is calculated by the encoder attached to the wheel of the mobile robot. The moving direction of the mobile robot is measured by a gyro sensor on the robot. When the person in danger pushes a button of the mobile robot, the mobile robot transmits the trajectory data to a designated server.

  • Even if there are lots of researches on localization using 2D range finder in static environment, very few researches have been reported for robust real-time localization of mobile robot in uncertain and dynamic environment. In this paper, we present a new localization method based on ICP(Iterative Closest Point) algorithm for navigation of mobile robot under dynamic or uncertain environment. The ICP method is widely used for geometric alignment of three-dimensional models when an initial estimate of the relative pose is known. We use the method to align global map with 2D scanned data from range finder. The proposed algorithm accelerates the processing time by uniformly sampling the line fitted data from world map of mobile robot. A data filtering method is also used for threshold of occluded data from the range finder sensor. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been demonstrated through computer simulation and experiment in an office environment.
