The update of a high-precision map was carried out by modifying the geometric information using ortho-images or point-cloud data as the source data and then reconstructing the relationship between the spatial objects. These series of processes take considerable time to process the geometric information, making it difficult to apply real-time route planning to a vehicle quickly. Therefore, this study proposed a method to update the road network for route planning using a graph data structure and storage type of graph data structure considering the characteristics of the road network. The proposed method was also reviewed to assess the feasibility of real-time route information transmission by applying it to actual road data.

This paper proposes a method to recognize and track drivable lane areas to assist the driver. The main topic is designing a deep-based network that predicts drivable road areas using computer vision and deep learning technology based on images acquired in real time through a camera installed in the center of the windshield inside the vehicle. This study aims to develop a new model trained with data directly obtained from cameras using the YOLO algorithm. It is expected to play a role in assisting the driver's driving by visualizing the exact location of the vehicle on the actual road consistent with the actual image and displaying and tracking the drivable lane area. As a result of the experiment, it was possible to track the drivable road area in most cases, but in bad weather such as heavy rain at night, there were cases where lanes were not accurately recognized, so improvement in model performance is needed to solve this problem.

A cause of vehicle accidents is the reduced visibility due to bad weather conditions such as fog. Therefore, an onboard vision system should take visibility detection into account. In this paper, we propose a simple and effective approach for measuring the visibility distance using a single camera placed onboard a moving vehicle. The proposed algorithm is controlled by a few parameters and mainly includes camera parameter estimation, region of interest (ROI) estimation and visibility computation. Thanks to the ROI extraction, the position of the inflection point may be measured in practice. Thus, combined with the estimated camera parameters, the visibility distance of the input foggy image can be computed with a single camera and just the presence of road and sky in the scene. To assess the accuracy of the proposed approach, a reference target based visibility detection method is also introduced. The comparative study and quantitative evaluation show that the proposed method can obtain good visibility detection results with relatively fast speed.

A number of the latest research projects focus on the development of real-time mapping system. Typically, these devices are used to capture land-related information in digital form from airplanes or cars. The purpose of this paper is to automatically extract the road information from the digital images obtained using the so-called "GPS-Van" which has been developed by Center for Mapping at The Ohio State University, and to propose the method for the effective storage and management of the digital data. The edges of a road can be extracted from the digital image and determined real-time 3-dimensional position by digital photogrammetry. Also, the three storage level which consists of raster data level, object-oriented data level, and vector data level in the data storage and Quadtree data structure for the effective compression and search in the data management was proposed in this paper.his paper.

In this paper, we present a two-stage vision-based approach to detect multi views of pedestrian in road scene images. The first stage is HG (Hypothesis Generation), in which potential pedestrian are hypothesized. During the hypothesis generation step, we use a vertical, horizontal edge map, and different colors between road background and pedestrian's clothes to determine the leg position of pedestrian, then a novel symmetry peaks processing is performed to define how many pedestrians is covered in one potential candidate region. Finally, the real candidate region where pedestrian exists will be constructed. The second stage is HV (Hypothesis Verification). In this stage, all hypotheses are verified by Support Vector Machine for classification, which is robust for multi views of pedestrian detection and recognition problems.

This paper presents a vision-based robust off-road terrain classification method against environmental variation. As a supervised classification algorithm, we applied a neural network classifier using wavelet features extracted from wavelet transform of an image. In order to get over an effect of overall image feature variation, we adopted environment sensors and gathered the training parameters database according to environmental conditions. The robust terrain classification algorithm against environmental variation was implemented by choosing an optimal parameter using environmental information. The proposed algorithm was embedded on a processor board under the VxWorks real-time operating system. The processor board is containing four 1GHz 7448 PowerPC CPUs. In order to implement an optimal software architecture on which a distributed parallel processing is possible, we measured and analyzed the data delivery time between the CPUs. And the performance of the present algorithm was verified, comparing classification results using the real off-road images acquired under various environmental conditions in conformity with applied classifiers and features. Experiments show the robustness of the classification results on any environmental condition.

Google provides mapping services using satellite imagery, this is widely used for the study. Since about 20 years ago, research and business using drones have been expanding. Pix4D is widely used to create 3D information models using drones. This study compared the distance error by comparing the result of the road construction site with the DSM data of Google Earth and Pix4 D. Through this, we tried to understand the reliability of the result of distance measurement in Google Earth. A DTM result of 3.08 cm/pixel was obtained as a result of matching with 49666 key points for each image. The length and altitude of Pix4D and Google Earth were measured and compared using the obtained PCD. As a result, the average error of the distance based on the data of Pix4D was measured to be 0.68 m, confirming that the error was relatively small. As a result of measuring the altitude of Google Earth and Pix4D and comparing them, it was confirmed that the maximum error was 83.214m, which was measured using satellite images, but the error was quite large and there was inaccuracy. Through this, it was confirmed that there are difficulties in analyzing and acquiring data at road construction sites using Google Earth, and the result was obtained that point cloud data using drones is necessary.
The goal of this research is developing advanced lane detecting algorithm for unmanned vehicle. Previous lane detecting method to bring on error become of the lane loss and noise. Therefore, new algorithm developed to get exact information of lane. This algorithm can be used to AGV(Autonomous Guide Vehicle) and LSWS(Lane Departure Warning System), ACC(Adapted Cruise Control). We used 1/10 scale RC car to embody developed algorithm. A CCD camera is installed on top of vehicle. Images are transmitted to a main computer though wireless video transmitter. A main computer finds information of lane in road image. And it calculates control value of vehicle and transmit these to vehicle. This algorithm can detect in input image marked by 256 gray levels to get exact information of lane. To find the driving direction of vehicle, it search line equation by curve fitting of detected pixel. Finally, author used median filtering method to removal of noise and used characteristic part of road image for advanced of processing time.

This paper proposes a novel algorithm to recognize the curve of a structured road. The proposed algorithm uses an LCF (Lane Curve Function) obtained by the transformation of a parabolic function defined on world coordinate into image coordinate. Unlike other existing methods, the algorithm needs no transformation between world coordinate and image coordinate owing to the LCF. In order to search for an LCF describing the lane best, the differential comparison between the slope of an assumed LCF and the phase angle of edge pixels in the LROI (Lane Region Of Interest) constructed by the LCF is implemented. As finding the true LCF, the lane curve is determined. The proposed method is proved to be efficient through various kinds of images, providing the reliable curve direction and the valid curvature compared to the real road.
We present a method to detect on-road vehicle using geometric invariant of feature points on side planes of the vehicle. The vehicles are assumed into a set of planes and the invariant from motion information of features on the plane segments the plane from the theory that a geometric invariant value defined by five points on a plane is preserved under a projective transform. Harris corners as a salient image point are used to give motion information with the normalized correlation centered at these points. We define a probabilistic criterion to test the similarity of invariant values between sequential frames. Experimental results using images of real road scenes are presented.
