Pedestrians not only walk along pedestrian pathways, but also choose unusual routes such as passing through buildings or crossing large scale open spaces. This study defines these unusual paths as social path, and includes them into one of the pedestrian road categories. Previous pedestrian accessibility and route choice studies could not evaluate correctly the space connectivity or optimal route because the social path was not considered properly. Therefore, this study analyzes the effectiveness of the social path in view of space connectivity focused on Coex and Seoul stations in Seoul, which are representative transit oriented development(TOD) areas. Global integration, which is widely used in network analysis, is selected (as performance index) to identify the space hierarchy and define new pedestrian links. The study results show that the network connectivity is improved especially in the main streets and social paths. This study demonstrated that the social path should be considered in finding the pedestrian optimal route from the practical perspective.

Four parks were selected to study the current situation after large scale suburban housing development in the 1990s. Since housing development road network have expanded with other facilities. First of all, green space area available per housing unit is 7.11- 22.0 sq. m. These parks neither extend as green corridor with surrounding hillside mountains (the river or lakes) nor act as the wind path from the mountains. Some housing units have reconstructed and the others will be redeveloped in near future which would more challenges for the residents in terms of quality of their life.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential application of TERRA-ASTER data in Thailand. ASTER VNIR, SWIR and TIR data covering greater Bangkok and Chiangmai province were processed with various techniques in the spatial domain to study the applicability to various disciplines. ASTER data was also combined with other satellite data in order to utilize multi-sensor methods. It was found that VNIR data can clearly identify urban pattern including road network and vegetation index. While SWIR and TIR data can well separate between urban and non urban area and TIR data can differentiate among thermal surfaces. Furthermore, dense urban areas such as central business area could be highlighted. Land utilization, vegetable distribution and differences of temperature distribution were investigated.

The exact path following of an autonomous mobile robot in a factory and an unreliable environment has many disadvantages in case of a classical control algorithm. In this paper, a neural network control approach based on an error back propagation algorithm is proposed for controlling a mobile robot to follow a line installed on the road. Since not only the three recognized informations from three sensors attached on a mobile robot but also the ten detailed informations in non recognition area are learned with input patterns, a mobile robot moves smoothly an installed line in spite of non perception space. The mobile robot has an effect of error minimization with a short time till a destination. To test an effectiveness of the proposed controller, the two motor velocity changes which is affected from a moving angle change of a mobile robot are simulated with computer.

This paper addresses techniques for predicting a future path of an object moving on a road network. Most prior methods for future prediction mainly focus their attention on objects moving in Euclidean space. A variety of applications such as telematics, however, deal with objects that move only over road networks in most cases, thereby requiring an effective method of future prediction of moving objects on road networks. In this paper, we propose a novel method for predicting a future path of an object by analyzing past trajectories whose changing pattern is similar to that of a current trajectory of a query object. We devise a new function that measures a similarity between trajectories by reflecting the characteristics of road networks. By using this function, we predict a future path of a given moving object as follows: First, we search for candidate trajectories that contain subtrajectories similar to a given query trajectory by accessing past trajectories stored in moving object databases. Then, we predict a future path of a query object by analyzing the moving paths along with a current position to a destination of candidate trajectories thus retrieved. Also, we suggest a method that improves the accuracy of path prediction by regarding moving paths that have just small differences as the same group.

Construction of urban emergency shelters based on disaster-prevention green space is an important part of an urban disaster response plan. The accessibility of disaster-prevention green space is directly related to the disaster prevention service effect of green space. Taking the Jung-gu and Nam-gu districts of Ulsan city as research targets, the accessibility of three green spaces was analyzed by a network analysis method based on information regarding the distribution of population and green space and the urban road network. Two indicators for evaluating the service effect of green spaces were service population rate and service area rate. The results showed that the accessibility of the emergency refuge parks (5min) and central refuge parks was relatively good but the service area rate and service population rate of the emergency refuge parks (3min) and temporary refuge parks was less than 60%. In view of the overall situation, the service effect of disaster-prevention green space is at this point only general in Ulsan and there is great room for improvement.

This paper is a study on railway tunnel behavior characteristic of shallow overburden under the existing road. In order to understand the behavior characteristics of the ground deformation during tunnel excavation, a horizontal rod extensometers were installed in the passage area of the shallow overburden tunnel under the road, and the measurement and analysis were carried out. To compare the in situ measurement, three dimensional numerical analysis with ground condition and construction step was carried out using MIDAS NX. As a result of the field measurement, large preceding settlement occurred where the poor ground condition with shallow overburden excavation has been conducted. As a result of the numerical analysis, the largest settlement occurred at the shallow overburden point where the ground condition was poor. Therefore, in the shallow overburden section where the soil condition is poor and a sufficient depth can't be secured and the arching effect of the ground around the tunnel can't be expected, careful attention should be paid to the application of stiffness reinforcement measures and to minimize ground loosening.
Walking is the most basic personal mobility and its importance and concern is ever increasing with the highlighting of a new paradigm, such as transit oriented development, sustainable development and revitalization of green transport. The existing analytical research on pedestrian network is using a pedestrian's moving distance to a destination and integration in space syntax theory as its representative accessibility factors. However, the uniplanar network moving distance fails to reflect topographic characteristics, so the moving distance could show a similar result value in case of the regions for analysis that have a similar network structure to each other. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to suggest a new analytical methodology on pedestrian network accessibility in consideration of the grade in pedestrian sections and a pedestrian's size. this study, in its analysis of a uniplanar pedestrian network moving distance, analyzed the pedestrian network moving distance in consideration of the grade in pedestrian sections, and even the pedestrian network moving distance in consideration of a pedestrian's size, and suggested the methodology on pedestrian network accessibility analysis in consideration of a more substantive pedestrian's characteristics. It is hoped that the methodology used by this study will be used as the methodology on pedestrian network analysis which can reflect topographic characteristics in the pedestrian network analysis, and take a more substantive pedestrian's movement into account.
The aim of the research was to analyze a correlation between rural villages and a space of amenity resources in order to provide objective basic data for rural renewal planning in the future. 15 villages were selected to analyze amenity resources. A Space Syntax Method(SSM) was used to analyze a spacial structure of each village and location characteristics of amenity resources. Finally, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences(SPSS) was used for a cluster analysis. The results of spacial analysis showed that the MeanDepth of rural villages was 4.482 and Global Integration Value(GInteg) was 0.956. Relatively, a depth was lower and GInteg was higher, compared to other villages. Rural villages were easily recognized and accessible by outsiders, compared to mountain and fishing villages. In the case of rural villages, the MeanDepth of amenity resources was low and GInteg was high in the results of cluster analysis using a nonhierachical method. Results indicated that an access was easy and amenity resources were closely located each other. However, the deviation of each village was great in mountain villages. This research suggests that an effective maintenance of road network for improving accessibility would be given priority in an undeveloped farming and fishing villages' renewal. Especially, using a spacial analysis in village renewal planning process can improve accessibility and maximize an utilization of public facilities and amenity resources.
Taking Pingjiang historical and cultural block in Suzhou as an example, this paper collects 1436 tourist comment data from Ctrip. com with Python technology, and uses network text analysis method to analyze frequency words, semantic network and emotion, so as to evaluate the tourist perception characteristics and levels of the Grand Canal cultural heritage. The study found that: natural and humanistic landscapes, historical and cultural deposits, and the style of the Jiangnan Canal are fully reflected in the perception of visitors to the Pingjiang Historical and Cultural District; Tourists hold strong positive emotions towards the Pingjiang Road historical and cultural district, however, there is still more space for the transformation and upgrading of the district. Finally, suggestions for measures to improve the perception of tourists of the Grand Canal cultural heritage are given in terms of conservation first, cultural integration and innovative utilization.
