원심펌프의 성능에 대한 더블 볼류트의 영향 (Effects of Double Volute on Performance of A Centrifugal Pump)

  • In this study, a parametric study of a centrifugal pump with double volute has been performed numerically using three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The shear stress transport model was selected as turbulence closure through turbulence model test. The finite volume method and unstructured grid system were used for the numerical analysis. The optimal grid system in the computational domain was determined through a grid dependency test. The expansion coefficient, circumferential and radial starting positions and length of divider were selected as the geometric parameters to be tested. And, the hydraulic efficiency and the radial thrust coefficient were considered as performance parameters. It was found that the radial thrust and hydrualic efficiency are more sensitive to the expansion angle and circumferential starting position of the divider than the other geometrical parameters.

  • In this work, shape optimization of a wire-wrapped fuel assembly in a liquid metal reactor has been carried out by combining a three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes analysis with the radial basis neural network method, a well known surrogate modeling technique for optimization. Sequential Quadratic Programming is used to search the optimal point from the constructed surrogate. Two geometric design variables are selected for the optimization and design space is sampled using Latin Hypercube Sampling. The optimization problem has been defined as a maximization of the objective function, which is as a linear combination of heat transfer and friction loss related terms with a weighing factor. The objective function value is more sensitive to the ratio of the wire spacer diameter to the fuel rod diameter than to the ratio of the wire wrap pitch to the fuel rod diameter. The optimal values of the design variables are obtained by varying the weighting factor.

다익송풍기 내부 3차원 정상유동의 수치해석 (Analysis of the three-dimensional Steady Flow through A Multi-blade Centrifugal Fan)

  • A numerical study is presented for analysis of three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flows in a multi-blade centrifugal fan. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with a standard $k-{\espilon}$ turbulence model are discretized with finite volume approximations. The computational area is divided into three blocks; inlet core, impeller and scroll parts, which are linked by a multi-block method. The flow inside of the fan is regarded as steady flow, and the mathematical models for the impeller forces were established from a cascade theory and measured data. Empirical coefficients are obtained comparing between computational and experimental results for the case without scroll, and are employed to simulate the flow through the impeller with scroll. In comparisons with experimental data, the validity of the mathematical models for the impeller forces was examined. The characteristics of the flow in the scroll were also discussed.

숯계산에 의한 초음속 제트의 스크리티 톤 소음 해석 (Numerical Analysis on Screech Tone in a Supersonic Jet)

  • 초음속 제트 마하수 1.07부터 1.2 범위에서 축대칭 제트 스크리치 톤을 해석하였다. 축대칭 모드는 낮은 마하수 축대칭 제트의 지배적인 스크리치 톤 모드이다. 난류 해석을 위해 수정된 Spalart-Allmaras 모델을 RANS (Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes) 방정식에 사용하였다. 스크리치 톤 해석에서 중요한 음파의 전파, shock-cell 구조 및 거대한 불안정 파를 정확히 계산하기 위해 비반사 특성 경계조건과 연계한 고차정확도의 ENO 기법을 사용하였다. 수치 해석결과는 다른 연구자들의 실험 및 계산 결과와 잘 일치하였으며, 따라서 본 연구에 사용된 수치 기법들이 초음속 제트 유동 및 소음연구에 타당함을 확인하였다.

  • 지상연소시험용 소형 액체로켓엔진 초음속 노즐의 성능해석을 위하여 노즐내 유동특성 및 플룸 구조를 $k-{\omega}$ SST모델을 사용한 Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes 방정식으로 해석하였다. 해석기법의 검증을 위하여 2차원 축소-확대 노즐 초음속 유동의 해석값과 실험치를 비교하고, 검증된 기법으로 2차원 축대칭 노즐의 성능해석을 수행하였다. 그 결과 노즐 내부에 유동박리 및 역류현상의 발생이 확인되었으며, 이 해석결과는 소형 액체로켓엔진 노즐 최적설계에의 기초자료로 제시되었다.

  • A numerical study has been performed to evaluate thermal-hydraulic performance of a finger type cooling module with multiple-jet impingement in a divertor of nuclear fusion reactor. To analyze conjugate heat transfer in both solid and fluid domains, numerical analysis of the flow using three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations has been performed with shear stress transport turbulence model. The computational domain for the cooling module consisted of a single fluid domain and three solid domains; tile, thimble, and cartridge. The numerical results for the temperature variation on the tile were validated in comparison with experimental data under the same conditions. A parametric study was performed with four geometric parameters, i.e., angles between x-axis and centerlines of hole 1, 2, 3 and 4. The results indicate that the heat transfer rate was increased by 2.7% and 0.7% by the angle ${\theta}_1$ and angle ${\theta}_2$, respectively, and that the pressure drop was decreased by up to 1.8% by the angle ${\theta}_3$.

능동형 케이싱 트리트먼트의 형상 변화가 원심압축기의 공력성능에 미치는 영향 (Geometrical Effects of an Active Casing Treatment on Aerodynamic Performance of a Centrifugal Compressor)

  • In this study, a parametric study on a cavity as casing treatment of a centrifugal compressor has been conducted using three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with shear stress transport turbulence model. Two kinds of cavity were applied at choke and surge conditions, respectively, in this work. Inlet and outlet port widths, angle of outlet port, and length of cavity were chosen as the geometric parameters and investigated to find their effects on the aerodynamic performances such as adiabatic efficiency at design mass flow rate and stall margin of the centrifugal compressor. It was found that the aerodynamic performances of the centrifugal compressor were affected considerably by the four geometric parameters. The adiabatic efficiency was hardly changed by the geometric parameters, excepts for the angle of outlet port. With an increase in the angle of outlet port, the adiabatic efficiency and the stall margin decreased. The stall margin was more sensitive to the outlet port width than to the other geometric parameters. And, with a decrease in the outlet port width, the stall margin increased by 2% compared to that of the reference.

  • In this study, performance analyses have been conducted for a 5MW class wind turbine blade model. Advanced computational analysis system based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD) and computational structural dynamics(CSD) has been developed in order to investigate detailed dynamic responsed of wind turbine blade. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with K-${\epsilon}$ turbulence model are solved for unsteady flow problems of the rotating turbine blade model. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used for computing the coupled aeroelastic governing equations of the 3D turbine blade for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems. Predicted aerodynamic performance considering structural deformation effect of the blade show different results compared to the case of rigid blade model.

다관절 해저로봇 'Crabster'에 작용하는 조류하중 산정 및 유동해석 (Flow Analysis around Multi-Legged Underwater Robot "Crabster" to Evaluate Current Loads)

  • In this study, numerical simulations were performed to evaluate the current loads acting on the multi-legged underwater robot "Crabster" with a variety of incident angles using the ANSYS-CFX package. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations were solved to simulate the fluid flow around Crabster to calculate the forces and moments induced by incoming currents with various angles. First, to assess the posture stability of the body, the forces and moments were calculated with various incident angles when the current acted in the vertical and horizontal directions. Next, two forms of legs (box and foil types) were evaluated to determine the hydrodynamic force variation. Finally, the current forces and moments acting on the Crabster body with the legs attached were estimated.
