This study assessed citation analysis results in light of their usefulness for national scientific and technical information (STI) policy formulation and review in Korea. using electrical and electronics engineering field as a case. After brief summary of citation analysis results was presented. current Korean STI policy was reviewed. which aims at establishing national STI sharing system by constructing many STI databases and information networks. Citation analysis results were discussed in light of their significance for Korean databases and information network construction and for use of informal networks such as E-Mail and invisible colleges. The problem of access to current information was also reviewed. Some recommendations were made to policy makers. which include creation of a centralized national STI center: development of guidelines for effective utilization of STI networks and STI; and. standardization of information processing technology and support for the automation of information centers and libraries. Based on the literature review. the best possible way of presenting recommendations to policy makers was examined. It was concluded that citation analysis could be a useful methodology for STI policy formulation and review when reliability and validity of the study is assured and the samples well represent the population of scientists and engineers. Finally recommendations for further research were offered.

Solid waste management is currently a topic of concern, particularly in the protection of humans and the environment from toxic pollutants and hazardous materials. The importance of solid waste management is recognized at international, national, and community levels. Different agendas have been prioritized and assigned to improve quality of life, productivity, and health, and reduce the burden of pollution. Suitable management of solid waste requires appropriate technology that is affordable, socially accepted, and environmentally friendly. The use of a smart management system involving system dynamics can save energy, money, and labor. System dynamics is a computer-based approach that aids in predicting the behavioral patterns of variables, and correlating dependent and independent variables. The inclusion of system dynamics-based models in solid waste management has recently become more common. In this review, we used system dynamics to determine methods to disentangle solid waste management systems and analyzed different studies on solid waste management using system dynamics in different countries in detail. We also discussed the various software packages that are available for system dynamics and their usefulness for waste management. This review may help in understanding current solid waste management practices using system dynamics.

Purpose: To evaluate the usefulness of wash-in color map in detecting early enhancement of prostate focal lesion compared to whole dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DEC MRI) images. Materials and Methods: This study engaged 50 prostate cancer patients who underwent multiparametric MRI and radical prostatectomy as subjects. An expert [R1] and a trainee [R2] independently evaluated early enhancement and recorded the time needed to review 1) a wash-in color map and 2) whole DCE MRI images. Results: The review of whole DCE images by R1 showed fair agreement with color map by R1, whole images by R2, and color map by R2 (weighted kappa values = 0.59, 0.44, and 0.58, respectively). Both readers took a significantly shorter time to review the color maps as compared to whole images (P < 0.001). Conclusion: A trainee could achieve better agreement with an expert when using wash-in color maps than when using whole DCE MRI images. Also, color maps took a significantly shorter evaluation time than whole images.

Objectives: In modern society, many people have low back pain (LBP) and spinal diseases. About 80% of them experience severe LBP more than once in their lifetime. We can find studies on many Korean medicine-based treatments, such as acupuncture treatment for LBP and exercise therapy, which are effective in reducing the symptoms. This study focuses on the combined effect of both Korean medicine and exercise therapy for treating LBP. Method: For this review, we searched for articles focusing on pain and disability recovery in pre-clinical and clinical studies of extension and flexion exercise therapy related to LBP. The search databases were as follows: PubMed, Google Scholar, and seven Korean electronic databases (Korea Citation Index (KCI), Korean studies Information Service System (KISS), Research Information Service System (RISS), Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS), DBPIA, National Digital Science Library (NDSL), and KOREAMED). The keywords were as follows: Korean Medicine, back pain, flexion exercise, extension exercise, McKenzie method, McKenzie exercise, Williams' flexion exercise, and Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. Results & Conclusions: This review shows the usefulness of flexion and extension exercises for LBP treatment and effective patient education, but further studies are necessary.

As the electronic commerce has grown dramatically, visiting the Internet shopping malls is accepted as one of our daily life. Despite many studies about user acceptance of the Internet shopping malls, it still remains unanswered how the Internet shopping mall's three quality factors such as system qualify, Information qualify, and service quality affect user trust, and eventually user acceptance of the mall. To investigate this issue, we propose a research model in which six external factors such as three qualify factors as well as self-efficacy, subjective norm, and trust have a significant impact on user's attitude and intention to use the mall. After garnering 244 valid questionnaires from users, we analyze them with structural equation modeling. Experiment results show that the Internet shopping mall's three quality factors such as system quality, information qualify, and service quality significantly Influence user trust for the mall, which in turn impacts user's perceived usefulness, attitude toward using the mall. Another external factors such as self-efficacy and subjective norm also influence user's perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness respectively, affecting user's attitude altogether. Implications and further research directions are presented.

Interest in EA has been Increasing recently, however, with the coming into effect from July 2006 of the 'Information Technology Architecture Act' which requires the public sector to adopt EA. Until now, the study of EA has been focused on concepts and methodologies for the adoption of EA. The fundamental issue, however, the study on the factors affecting the adoption of EA, has rarely been explored. This thesis therefore surveyed which factors have affected the adoption of EA. The analysis found that the adoption of EA was affected by the external environmental characteristics such as rules or regulations and the level of competition in the Industry concerned, and by the organization's information technology level. However, technological aspects such as perceived usefulness or perceived ease of use - traditionally considered as critical factors in adopting information technology - were found to be less influential. These results show that in Korea we still do not regard EA as a method of optimizing the IT resources of a company. In order for EA to be widely adopted, therefore, we should Put primary emphasis on efforts to properly appreciate its technological aspects, such as its technological usefulness or convenience.

This study focuses on the network externality effect related to the platform supplementary services. This study designs the network externality of platform and suggests a supplementary service adoption model. Additionally, this study examines the moderating effect of demand forecasting for the platform. Using AMOS program, a structural equation modeling has been used to analyze the research model. The findings can be summarized as follows : First, we find out the structural relationship among the factors (usefulness, perceived value, purchase intention) affecting adoption of the supplementary services. Second, positive perception of platform flow can promote the platform interaction. Third, positive perception of present users based on platform can arouse friendly evaluation in the platform interaction. Fourth, loyalty to the platform brand can improve the perceived usefulness of supplementary services, but cannot lessen the resistance to supplementary service cost. In addition, the moderating effects of demand forecasting for the platform in the path leading from platform factors to supplementary service factors were identified. In conclusion, traditional brand strategy may be effective in platform marketing activities but the extent of performance in the strategy can appear to be quite different. Therefore, taking the relationship with network externality into consideration should be involved in the marketing strategy in platform.

Due to the rapid growth of social networking community (SNC), research into SNC user's behavior has recently emerged as an important issue in information systems. An individual makes a decision whether or not to continually use his or her own SNC and to purchase digital items to decorate it. Most previous research has focused on a user's continuance intention and has ignored the importance of purchase intention. This study develops and empirically tests an integrated model designed to predict a user's two types of behavioral intention：continuance intention and purchase intention based on the expectation-confirmation model (ECM) and a dual model of relationship maintenance mechanism.The results indicate that perceived usefulness, satisfaction, personalization, and switching cost have important influences on the formation of SNC continuance intention. The results also show that perceived usefulness and satisfaction does not have any significant impacts on purchase intention, while personalization, learning, attractiveness of alternatives, and continuance intention significantly affect it.

In recent years, it Is necessary to develop an alternative measure, the time efficiency of management activities, as a more measurable and operational tool Instead of traditional accounting measures such as inventories turnover. Therefore the concept of throughput time has got much attention as useful tool for controlling time based management. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the usefulness and adaptability of throughput time. The sample consists of 212 non-banking firms listed on the Korean Stock Exchange. The test Period were 10 years(1989-1998). The regression analysis for this study was performed using the cross-sectional data for the sample, and it was also performed for each Industry. The results show that net Income to tonal assets and labor productivity (value added Per employee) variables in the model was signiflcantly associated with throughput time. On the other hand, the relationship between throughput time and logistics cost to sales do largely not have statistical significance. Especially, it is found that the relationship do not have significance or negative response in food & beverage industry and wholesale & retail industry. In summary, the results show that the measure of throughput time can be an effective managerial Indicator for time based competition and management.
