The application of Internet-technologies to support inter-business transactions and relationships (also termed business-to-business, B2B, electronic commerce) has recently received tremendous attention. Recognizing the importance of the Internet as a powerful business tool, many companies including public organization such as KEPCO(Korea Electronic Power Corporation) have moved quickly to take advantage of electronic commerce. This study explores the impact of Internet-based technology on the procurement function, howe-procurement is helping organizations to enhance their competitiveness and the challenges to its adoption. The study also presents the findings from a survey conducted to gain insight into the adoption of e-procurement by KEPCO. Specifically, it seeks to uncover the prevalence of and extent to which public organization is adopting e-procurement, the benefits reaped and the barriers encountered in the course of implementation.

본 논문은 VR산업 발전에 따라 2-3년제 대학에 VR관련 학과의 교육과정에 대한 고찰이다. 현재와 미래의 VR산업 동향을 사회적요구로 인식하고 지자체의 VR 단기 교육과정과 여러 대학의 교육과정을 살펴보았다. VR콘텐츠에 대한 수요가 장비 산업에 비해서 2020년에 3배 이상의 성장이 예상된다. 따라서 실무 중심의 2-3년제 대학의 VR학과는 콘텐츠 중심의 교육과정이 많이 신설되어야 한다.

Over the course of the recent global financial crisis, emerging economies experienced massive swings in capital inflows. In this paper, we estimate a VAR model to assess the impact of capital inflow shocks, which are identified using a set of sign restrictions, on house prices in Korea. We base the analysis on three alternative measures of capital inflows: net total inflows, net portfolio inflows and gross total inflows. The results suggest that capital inflow shocks have a significantly positive and persistent effect on real house prices. Although shocks to capital inflows are found to be substantially more important for Korean asset markets than for other OECD countries, their overall explanatory power is modest. Using regional house price data we also show that capital inflow shocks have an asymmetric effect on property markets across the seven largest Korean cities and across different parts of Seoul.

Background: Spontaneous pneumomediastinum is a rare and benign condition that generally occurs in young generations without any precipitating factor or underlying disease. The purpose of this study is to review our experience in dealing with this entity and detail a reasonable course of assessment and management. Methods: From December 1999 to May 2012, 32 spontaneous pneumomediastinum patients were managed in our hospital. We retrospectively reviewed the result of management. Results: Patients ranged in age from 10 to 38 years, with the mean age of $18.3{\pm}5.6$ years. Twenty-five patients were men and seven were women. Initial WBC count was $10,039{\pm}2,993/{\mu}L$ and thirty-one patients underwent computed tomography. Twenty-two patients underwent esophagography and results were shown to be normal. Twenty-five patients were admitted in the hospital and the mean duration of admission was $3.4{\pm}2.0$ days. All patients were managed conservatively and discharged without any complications. Conclusion: Spontaneous pneumomediastinum is a benign condition combined with mild inflammatory signs and secondary causes must to excluded to avoid unfavorable outcomes and select proper management modality.

Variceal bleeding results in significant morbidity and mortality in both children and adults. The guidelines for the management of variceal bleeding are well established in adults but not in children as there have been insufficient pediatric studies of this disorder. In addition, the adult guidelines for treatment of variceal bleeding cannot be applied directly to children as the etiology and natural course of this disease differs between children and adults. Examples of recommended treatments in children include endoscopic variceal ligation as secondary prophylaxis for biliary atresia whereas a meso-Rex shunt operation for extrahepatic portal vein obstruction. In this review, we discuss prophylaxis options and some technical aspects of endoscopic management for variceal bleeding in children.

In 1995, the Republic of Korea started to establish Techno Park (TP) in order to develop the regional industry while promoting the balanced development of the land. By 2008, 18TPs were established nationwide and have become cradles for developing local industries. And recently evolved forms of TP such as Daedeok Techno Valley and Pangyo Techno Valley emerged. In addition, 19 Centers for Creative Economy and Innovation (CCEI) were established nationwide and Tech-Incubator Program for start-ups (TIPS) was introduced to support and mentor start-ups. TPs in Korea become bureaucratic in course of time, and the new trial of innovation of TP is needed. In Korea, professional TIPS-accelerators mentoring and investing start-ups have a history of only five years. But they support and mentor start-ups efficiently, and have obtained good results. In this paper, we propose that TP attract TIPS-accelerators actively and collaborate with each other to support and mentor start-ups and SMEs effectively.

The Korea National Agricultural College (KNAC) was established as a special three academic years(six semesters) course by the Presidential Act in July 1995 and opened on March 20, 1997. According to the Act, the students of KNAC are granted free boarding in dormitory, full support of educational expenses, and, after completion, exception in military service and financial support for farming, which is their obligation to do for a double period of the total school year. With these institutional favors KNAC is hight expected to bring up promising young farm managers in Korea. However, actual competitive young farm managers are brought up by the well organized education with emphasis on learning by doing approach. With the relation to the education this study was performed to review and examine present situation of faculty organization, facilities and equipments, curriculum including field training in home land and oversea's counties. This study found out that there were undesirable aspects such as unbalanced faculty members among the departments, lack of practice farm land and limited budget in field training, which should be improved to achieve the objectives of KNAC.

Hamangiopericytoma, first described by Stout & Murray in 1942, is a rare vascular tumor composed of spindle-shaped or rounded cells proliferating around endothelial lined capillaries. These proliferating cells were belived to arise from the pericytes of Zimmerman. Histologically, this tumor demonstrates great variability and clinical course cannot be predicted from the histological appearance. Head and Neck hemangiopericytoma appears to have a lower grade malignancy with frequent local recurrency and metastasis, therefore, aggressive surgical therapy should be the treatment of choice. We experienced a case of hemangiopericytoma occurred in the right skull base at submastoideal and suboccipital area presenting as neck mass in upper occipital triangle in a 42 years old female patient and we report it with a review of literatures.

World history today has been greatly influenced by the fact that it was the revolution in naval power during the past two centuries that made the world truly global. This has led to a new master narrative that re-framed five millennia of recorded history in order to explain the ultimate triumph of the maritime economies. The result of such revision is to underestimate and distort the role of continental Eurasia in the shaping of the three key civilizations that developed independently and remain distinct: the Mediterranean, the Indic and the Sinic. Only by a fuller reappraisal of the linkages of trade and war dominated by the Eurasian central forces for most of history can we understand the global pressures perennially at work. By setting the continental and the maritime in their total historical context and recognizing their importance today, we can better explain what is happening and what is likely to continue to influence the course of world history.

The aim of modern medicine is to prolong life by fighting death. Doctors have traditionally believed that this was an ethical good deed. The negative connotation surrounding death has led to the avoidance of terminally ill patients. But in a modern society where death is medicalized, doctors have to see dying patients every day and are in a state of guilt from implementing meaningless life-sustaining treatments. Therefore, medical schools should allow medical students to embrace a new perspective through death education. Yonsei University Medical College has implemented death education since 2017 as an optional class for first and second year medical students. Students watch videos related to death once a week for 6 weeks and submit their reflections by e-mail. The professor reads the students' reflections and gives them weekly feedback. Through this coursework, students realize that death is not a medical event, but rather a part of life and completion. The ultimate purpose of death education is to transform blind life-absolutist identity into narrative identity.
