  • To solve the reverse function problem of computer games criticized nowadays, the main fact to be concerned in design should be to make feelings of satisfaction during playing and solving the given situation in the game world. In this paper, a design to fulfill the feelings of satisfaction directly and indirectly, controlling playable characters to help another non-playable character in some sort of danger is explained. The requirements to do so is analyzed and the result of demonstration is also presented.

  • The bootstrap confidence intervals are a computer-based method for assigning measures of accuracy to statistical estimators. In this paper we examine the small sample behavior of the Kaplan-Meier and Nelson-type estimators for the survival function using the bootstrap and asymptotic normal-theory confidence intervals. The Nelson-type estimator is nearly always better than the Kaplan-Meier estimator in the sense of achieved error rates. From the point of confidence length, the reverse is true. Also, we show that the bootstrap confidence intervals are better than the asymptotic normal-theory confidence intervals in terms of achieved error rates and confidence length.

  • Measurement technique using only one sensor for complex modal testing of the asymmetric rotor is proposed. The reverse directional frequency response function of asymmetric rotor, which is known to be indicative of the degree of asymmetry in a symmetric rotor, is also shown to be identified with simplest technique requiring only one sensor and one excitor. It lessens the testing efforts and its practicality is verified by numerical simulation. The measurement and excitation techniques for complex modal testing are also summarized so that the efficient complex modal testing can be possible according to the kind of rotor system.

  • A two-direction multiscaling function ${\phi}$ satisfies a recursion relation that uses scaled and translated versions of both itself and its reverse. This offers a more general and flexible setting than standard one-direction wavelet theory. In this paper, we investigate how to find and normalize point values and derivative values of two-direction multiscaling and multiwavelet functions. Determination of point values is based on the eigenvalue approach. Normalization is based on normalizing conditions for the continuous moments of ${\phi}$. Examples for illustrating the general theory are given.

  • Based on the averaged Korean head shapes that are the results of digital Korean project by KISTI and Catholic university, experimental apparatus of head dummies of Korean male and female are developed in order to measure head-related transfer functions(HRTF) by using a reverse engineering and rapid prototyping techniques. For the Korean dummies, HRTFs are measured using the substitution method ever 12kHz frequency bands. At every azimuth angle $15^{\circ}$ HRTFs are measured for elevation angles $-30^{\circ}$, $0^{\circ}$ and $-30^{\circ}$. The measured HRTFs are compared with those of KEMAR(knowles electronic manikin for acoustic research) dummy head, which shows $3{\sim}5\;dB$ difference over $4{\sim}5\;kHz$ kHz frequency band.

  • A radio over fiber (RoF) system is a kind of analog optical transmission system and considered as a strong candidate for the next-generation fronthaul link in the future mobile network. In RoF systems, nonlinearity compensation is essential to increase the link capacity. In this paper, we propose a nonlinearity detection and compensation scheme using a monitoring channel in RoF systems. A monitoring channel is added at the transmitter site and used for transmitting a reference signal in an RoF transmission. The nonlinearity in the RoF transmission is detected by comparing the received monitoring signal and the original reference signal at the receiver site. Finally, the nonlinearity is compensated at the receiver by giving the reverse function of the detected nonlinearity. Our results show that the proposed scheme can almost remove the error vector magnitude degradation induced by the nonlinearity in the RoF system.

  • The effects of pyrochlore phase and micostructure on the dielectric properties. such as dielectric constant, dissipation factor, diffusensess coefficient and dielectric hysteresis characteristics, of Lead magnesium niobate(PMN) ceramics have been studied as a function of the amount of excess MgO. The pyrochlore phase in PMN was completely eliminated with the addition of 5 m/o excess MgO. Also, the dielectric constant and remanent polarization increased with increase in grain size, density and then decreased with grain growth inhibitation for further addition of excess MgO. The diffuseness coefficient showed a tendency nearly reverse to that for the dielectric constant and remanent polarization change.

  • Generation of optimum planar B-spline curve in terms of minimum deviation and required fairness to approximate a target shape defined by a strip-shaped unorganized 2D point cloud is studied. It is proposed to use the location of control points as variables within the geometric optimization framework of point distance minimization. An adaptive simulated annealing heuristic optimization algorithm is developed to iteratively update an initial approximate curve towards the target shape. The new implementation comprises an adaptive cooling procedure in which the temperature change is adaptively dependent on the objective function evolution. It is shown that the proposed method results in an improved convergence speed when compared to the standard simulated annealing method. A couple of examples are included to show the applicability of the proposed method in the surface model reconstruction directly from point cloud data.
