  • Location-based services allow consumers to receive services based on their geographic location data. For example, businesses can provide information to find traffic facility, public restaurant, a hospital, and a station based on the consumer’s location at a particular moment. Also, they wish to grasp a accurate location based service in mobile device or PDA. So, this paper shows that presentation service offers a base-map to be overlaid OpenLS (Open Location Services)’s directory service, route determination service, geocode and reverse-geocode service. The presentation service is the portrayal of a map and portrayal of feature as map overlays.

  • Most of existing beam-to-column connections are reinforced symmetrically because of reverse action cause by earthquake but in the weak-earthquake region like Korea connections reinforced asymmetrically can be used. Specially, the connections between CFT(Concrete Filled Tube) column and H-shape beam can be applied by simplified lower diaphragm. The tensile capacity of Combined Cross Diaphragm for upper reinforcing was tested by simple tension test and four types for lower reinforcing; Combined Cross, None, Horizontal T-bar and Vertical Plate were tested by ANSI/AISC SSPEC 2002 loading program. Horizontal T-bar and stud bolts in vertical flat bar transmit tensile stress from bottom flange of beam to filled concrete. All test specimens were satisfied 0.01 radian of inelastic rotational requirement in ordinary moment frame of AISC seismic provision. As the results of parametric studies, simplified lower diaphragms demonstrated an outstanding strength, stiffness and plastic deformation capacity to use sufficient seismic performance in the field.

  • The behavior of laterally cyclic loaded piles is affected by the magnitude and number of cycles of cyclic lateral loads as well as loading method (1-way or 2-way loading). In this study, calibration chamber tests were carried out to investigate the effects of loading method of cyclic lateral loads on the behavior of piles driven into sand. Results of the chamber tests show that the permanent lateral displacement of 1-way cyclic loaded piles is developed in the same direction as the first loading, whereas that of 2-way cyclic loaded piles is developed in the reverse direction of the first loading. 1-way cyclic lateral loads cause a decrease of the ultimate lateral load capacity of piles, and 2-way cyclic lateral loads cause an increase of the ultimate lateral load capacity of piles. The change of ultimate lateral load capacity with loading method of cyclic lateral loads increases with increasing number of cycles. It is also observed that the 1-way cyclic loads generate greater maximum bending moment than 2-way cyclic loads for piles in cyclic loading step and generates smaller maximum bending moment for piles in the ultimate state. It can be attributed to the difference in compaction degree of the soil around the piles with loading method of cyclic lateral loads. In addition, it is founded that 1-way and 2-way cyclic lateral loads cause a decrease in the maximum bending moment of piles in the ultimate state compared with that of piles subjected to only monotonic loads.

  • Recently, CSB(Cable-Stayed Bridge) have been attempted to be atypical forms for landscape elements in Korea. CSB with new geometry need to analyze their characteristics clearly to ensure structural safety. This study's bridge is the S-shaped curved pedestrian CSB that has a girder with S-shape plane curve and reverse triangular truss cross section, inclined independent pylon, modified Fan type main cable and vertical backstay cable. Curved CSB can have excessive lateral displacement and moment when the tension is adjusted, focusing only on longitudinal behavior, such as a straight CSB. In order to analyze the effect of the cable on the lateral behavior of bridges, the cable is divided into two groups according to the lateral displacement direction of the pylon due to tension. The influence of the combination ratio of GR1 and GR2 on the girder, bearing, pylon, and vertical anchor cable was analyzed. When the tension applied to the bridge is 1.0GR1 plus 1.0GR2, In the combination of 1.2GR1 plus 0.8GR2, the stress on the left and right upper member of the truss girder and the deviation of the both were minimized. In addition, the horizontal force of the bearing, the lateral displacement and moment of the pylon, and the tension of the vertical backstay cable also decreased. This study is expected to be used as basic data for determination of tension of CSB with similar geometry.

  • The purpose of this study is to formulate the local displacement and moments of a plate stiffened with open ribs according to the dimensions of stiffened plates. Analyzed results of various plates stiffened with rectangular and reverse T ribs show that the effect of the lower flange to the local behavior is very small, so the local behavior can be expressed by ratio functions of the rib space, web thickness, web height and plate thickness and the ratio functions of rectangular and reverse T ribs can be unioned. The application of ratio functions to other types of stiffened plates shows that the increment of the error ratio is so small compared with examples of this study that the applicability of this study is proved.

  • In this study, stiffened plates with open ribs are analyzed to estimate and formulate the local displacement and local moments according to square loading sizes. For the local behaviors of plates stiffened with rectangular and reverse T ribs, the ratio functions according to the dimensions of stiffened plates are obtained at each square loading size. Analytical results show that values of the basic stiffened plates are different but the ratio functions of each square loading size are similar and the difference of the ratio functions between rectangular ribs and reverse T ribs are small, so the ratio functions can be unified by integrating the loading sizes regardless of the rib type. The application of the unioned ratio functions to L type ribs and rectangular loading shows good accuracies. Therefore, the local behaviors of plates stiffened with open ribs can easily be obtained by using the unioned ratio functions proposed in this study.

  • This study started to export an orchard tractor to Europe under the situations that R&D activities for orchard tractor were marginal and even it was not produced. The R&D for orchard tractor has been progressed and the most of it is accomplishing the goal. In this study, the durability of clutch friction part was tested for F/R clutch and moment of inertia of PTO clutch, and it was compared with the design criteria of transmission of tractor. According to the results of inertia test of F/R clutch, hydraulic pressures of clutch satisfied $1,961.33{\pm}196.13kPa$ of design criteria, and the variations of torque for forward and reverse operation were relatively constant. Therefore, it was found that the durability of clutch friction part was stable and reliable. Test results showed that the main hydraulic pressures were maintained $1,961.33{\pm}196.13kPa$ during the tests of moment of inertia of PTO clutch, and when it was operated, the hydraulic pressures were reached $1,961.33{\pm}196.13kPa$. Therefore, it was found that the hydraulic pressures of PTO satisfied the design criteria. By the results that the time of the hydraulic pressures of PTO reaching main hydraulic pressure, and that of torque values restoring to the original was same as the time of the first gear of PTO reaching the maximum rotational speed, it was found that PTO could transfer power to attachments as it was designed.

  • An experimental research was performed using fibers for the purpose of retrofitting existing reinforced concrete circular columns. Glass fiber (GF) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) were used as well as combined GF+PET (HF). PET has high tensile strength (over 600 MPa) and high ductility (about 15%), but has very low elastic modulus (about 1/6 of GF). A total of four columns was tested against laterally applied reverse cyclic load: control column, GF-, PET-, and HF-strengthened columns. All columns retrofitted using fibers demonstrated improved moment capacity and ductility. Moment capacity of GF-, PET-, and HF-strengthened columns was 120%, 107%, and 120% of the control column, respectively. Drift ratio of all retrofitted columns also increased by 63 ~ 83% over the control column. The final failure mode of the control column was main bar buckling. The final failure mode of the GF- and HF-strengthened columns was GF rupture while that of the PET-strengthened column was main bar rupture in tension. No damage was observed for PET at the ultimate stage due to excellent strain capacity intrinsic to PET. Current test results indicate that PET can be effectively used for seismic retrofit of RC columns. It is noted that the durability characteristics of PET needs to be investigated in the future.

  • Ball reducer (HERB Drive: High Efficient Wave Rolling Ball Drive) with waved grooves has many advantages over other types of reducers for high-reduction ratio, low noise and low energy loss, etc. The mechanism of force transmission is very similar to that of cam and follower in automobile valve train system especially in contact behaviors. In this study, we have investigated the traces of contact between ball and outer ring, and the dynamic contact behaviors of elastohydodynamic lubrication(EHL) with a certain reduction ratio. In order to verify the contact behaviors between ball and outer ring for the critical endurance lift, the contact velocity and load are computed for a cycle. During some intervals of a cycle, the contact velocity reverses its direction very suddenly. It is expected that changing the contact direction causes undesirable endurance performance because EHL film frequently col lapse at the moment of velocity reversal. From the computational investigation in this work, we hope to predict similar contact damages in other machinery due to this kind of contact behaviors, which is very typical in many contact phenomena.

  • The CALEB10 is a multi-legged biomimetic underwater robot. In the last research, we developed a swimming pattern named ESPG (Extended Swimming Pattern Generator) by observing diving beetle's swimming actions and experimented with a positive buoyancy state in which CALEB10 floats on the water. In this paper, however, we have experimented with CALEB10 in a neutral buoyancy state where it is completely immersed in water for pitch motion control experiment. And we found that CALEB10 was unstably swimming in the pitch direction in the neutral buoyancy state and analyzed that the reason was due to the weight proportion of the legs. In this paper, we propose a pitch motion control method to mimic the pitch motion of diving beetles and to solve the problem of CALEB10 unstably swimming in the pitch direction. To control the pitch motion, we use the method of controlling additional joints while swimming with the ESPG. The method of obtaining propulsive force by the motion of the leg has a problem of giving propulsive force in the reverse direction when swimming in the surge direction, but this new control method has an advantage that a propulsive moment generated by a swimming action only on a target pitch value. To demonstrate validity this new control method, we designed a dynamics-based simulator environment. And the control performance to the target pitch value was verified through simulation and underwater experiments.
