  • Fast tracking is important for high-speed data transmission in high-speed mobile environment such as high speed rail and vehicular. Digital retrodirective array antenna is possible to do automatically beam tracking because it can control the phase information of the output signal toward opposite direction to input signal without no a priori knowledge of the arrival direction. Also, Digital retrodirective array antennas has merit that it is easy to upgrade and modify compare with analogue retrodirective array antennas. In this paper, we analyze the BER performance of digital retrodirective array antenna under AWGN environment and multipath signal. Simulation results show correct phase estimation and conjugation of retrodirective array antenna by using phase detector block. Also, phase conjugation technique has better BER performance about 1 dB at source than that of without phase conjugation when phase lag is $15^{\circ}$ in AWGN environment. This paper also discusses effect of the presence of multipath signal. Phase and amplitude error about direction of direct signal occurs when retrodirective array system is affected by interference and multipath signal in the presence of multipath signal.

The retrodirective array has the property of re-directing any electromagnetic wave back to the incoming direction without any priory informations. The system is consisted of frequency mixers and antenna array. The mixer is acting as a phase conjugator. In this research, 2-port gate mixers using pHEMT and 1${\times}$4 monopole array have been used. The retrodirective array developed in this research can be applied in the base station facilities for the wireless mobile communications and RFID transponders.

  • A digital retrodirective antenna system is easy to modify and upgrade because it can control the phase information of the output signal toward opposite direction to input signal without a priori knowledge of the arrival direction. Due to this advantage, it is possible to perform fast beam tracking. In this paper, a design digital retrosirective array antenna system according to the number of antenna array by using only one digital PLL which finds angle of delayed phase and we test BER performance of this system. When we transmit data at actual communication system, the data modulated onto carrier frequency in order to shift spectrum from base band to another band. So we simulate system considering carrier frequency according to the number of antenna array. As a result, carrier frequency has no impact on the performance.

  • Digital retrodirective antenna system is easy to modify and upgrade because it can control the phase information of the output signal toward opposite direction to input signal without a priori knowledge of the arrival direction. Due to this advantage, it is possible to do fast beam tracking. Especially, we need to design the digital PLL performance for the digital retrodirective array antenna system. So, in this paper the settling time of phase estimator and BER performance of retrodirective antenna system are investigated according to design of filter in digital PLL. When QAM signal is used for 1 Mbps with $30^{\circ}$ of phase delay, simulation results show that digital phase conjugation technique has better BER performance by about 1 dB than non-phase conjugation system when digital filter is stable. If not, the system can't estimate the exact phase because of oscillation of filter.

  • The retrodirective array antenna system is operated faster than existing techniques of beamforming due to its less complexity. Therefore, it is effective for beam tracking in the environment of fast vehicle. On the other hand, it also has difficulty in estimating AOA according to multipath environment or multiuser signals. To improve the certainty of estimating AOA), this article proposes hybrid digital retrodirective array antenna systme combined with MUSIC algorithm. In this paper, the digital retrodirective array antenna system is designed according to the number of antenna array by using only one digital PLL which finds angle of delayed phase. And we evaluate the performance of the digital retrodirective array antenna for the high speed tracking application. Performance is studied by simulink when the speed of mobile is 300km/h and the distance between transmitter and receiver is 100m and then we have to confirm the performance of the system in multi path environment. As a result, the mean of AOA (Angle Of Arrival) error is $4.2^{\circ}$ when SNR is 10dB and it is $1.3^{\circ}$ when SNR is 20dB. Consequently, the digital RDA shows very good performance for high speed tracking due to the simple calculation and realization.

  • In this paper, we have developed a retrodirective active array operating in the 2 GHz LS band. The retrodirective array has the property of redirecting any electromagnetic wave back to the incoming direction without any priory informations. The system is integrated with phase conjugators and antenna array. Microwave phase conjugators can be implemented by microwave mixers. In this research, 2-port gate mixers using pHEMT and $1{\times}4$ monopole array have been used to achieve the retrodirectivity. The measured results have been compared with the theoretical prediction, and it has been shown that there exists a reasonable agreement between them. The monopole array can be used easily in many areas for simplicity and cost-effective property, and the retrodirective array developed in this research can be applied directly in the base station facilities for the wireless mobile communications. indoor wireless LAN and RFID transponders.

  • In this paper, we propose a chaotic correlation delay shift keying(CDSK) using digital retrodirective array antenna (RDA) for improving security and receive performance. Chaotic signals provide improved security due to non-periodic and non-predictable performance of chaotic signals. However, the receive performance of these chaotic signals is degraded due to self-interference and interference signals. Therefore, this paper, we analyze the receive BER performance of chaos communication system which has digital RDA based on CDSK modulation schemes for improving security without receive performance degradation. Simulation results show that the proposed system can get the same receiving performance compared to BPSK modulation schemes when array elements of RDA are 5.

  • In this paper, a cancellation technique for electromagnetic waves is realized based on a retrodirective antenna array system. The system re-transmits a signal to the direction of the incoming signal, with the same frequency and opposite phase. For the experimental verification, a $2{\times}2$ retrodirective array system is designed and fabricated. Experimental results for a metallic cylinder show as much as 26-dB reduction in reflection.

  • In this paper, we have developed a new type of the microwave phase conjugator for the active retrodirective antenna array. The circuit topology is consisted of a 2-port structure to avoid the complexity of LO and RF signal combination and matching, using the cascade connection of two single-ended mixers. The operating frequencies are 4.0 GHz, 2.01 GHz and 1.99 GHz for LO, RF, and IF, respectively. Conversion loss is measured to be -7 dB and 1-dB compression point 15 dBm with the LO power of 9 dBm. For the most important parameter, the isolation between RE leakage and IF signal is as high as 25 dB.

  • This study proposes a novel structure for the cross-eye, one of the representative jamming techniques of monopulse sensors. The proposed jammer tranceivers are composed of multi-channels with phased array antenna. We named this structure PRCJ(Phased array Retrodicetive Cross-eye Jammer). In this structure, formulas for calculating cross-eye gain and distance error are derived. We compare the properties of PRCJ with two-element retrodiredtive cross-eye jammer(TRCJ). PRCJ can achieve higher J/S because this structure can steer the spatially combined jamming signal in the direction of the incident monopulse signal. Because of the multiple channels in the phased array, it also increases the degree of freedom of channel matching. Finally, We preform a statistical analysis of the cross-eye gain according to the amplitude and phase errors. From this results, It has been found that PRCJ can get higher cross-eye gain than TRCJ.
