The influence of gravitational effect on the retention behaviors of polystyrene (PS) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) in flat type thermal field flow fractionation (Thermal FFF) was studied. In the case of downward flow of mobile phase, the gravitational effect acting in the same direction of mobile phase flow increases as the angle of the system from the horizontal line (0˚to 60˚) increases. The decreasement of retention time of PS & PMMA was found. Also, the increasement of dimensionless λ values was found. And the difference in the retention time of PS & PMMA having different molecular weight decreases and also the resolution decreases. In the case of upward flow of mobile phase, the gravitational effect acting in the opposite direction of mobile phase flow increases as the angle of the system from the horizontal line (0˚to 60˚) increases. The increasement of retention time of PS & PMMA was found. Also, the decreasement of dimensionless λ values was found. And the difference in the retention time of PS & PMMA having different molecular weight increases and also the resolution increases.

An efficient test method based on march test is presented to cover line leakage failures associated with bit and word lines or mega bit DRAM chips. A modified column march (Y-march) pattern is derived to improve fault coverage against the data retention failure. Time delay concept is introduced to develop a new column march test algorithm detecting various data retention failures. A built-in test circuit based on the column march pattern is designed and verified using logic simulation, confirming correct test operations.

The purpose of this study is to examine the basis of design condition of existing treatment processes, namely, Extended Aeration Process, Conventional Activated Process, High Rate Aeration Process and Modified Aeration Process, by clarifying the correlations of influent wastewater concentration, hydraulic retention time, food-to-microorganism ratio and sedimentation of sludge, as well as to ascertain the feasibility of design, regardless of the existing design condition. In particular, this study made a priority investigation of hydraulic retention time and sludge sedimentation, because sludge sedimentation is the main factor$^{1)}$ which determines the operating conditions of existing treatment processes. Therefore, it is generally known that in case exceeds the sphere of design presented for each treatment, sludge bulking may occur. The results of Lesperance's test$^{1)}$, which formed the basis of design, showed the sphere of loading without security of sludge sedimentation, as in Fig. 1. The reason for sludge bulking in a certain condition, as above, is due to failure in application of optimum loading corresponding to each retention time by employing a few operating condition, which proved to be consecutively workable after years of trials and failures by Lesperance, for test conditions. However, the result of this test showed that in case of proper maintenance of loading. sludge sedimentation can be ensured under 120 SVI. Therefore, this study suggested hydraulic retention time and its corresponding optimum loading, and identified the hydraulic retention time as a determinant of sludge sedimentation. And. on the basis of these findings, this study suggested the feasiblity of UHR(Ultra High Rate), a new operating process, exceeding several times the applicable loading value of High Rate Aeration Process under one hour retention time which has not yet applied to the existing treatment processes.
This study is conducted to investigate treatability by activated sludge process for wastewater from acetaldehyde manufacturing plant. The optimum hydraulic retention time in aeration tank for removal of high strength substrate were measured. The removal efficiency were checked out by hydraulic retention time : 35hr., 40hr. and 45hr., respectively. $COD_{Cr}$, like substances were removed in all hydraulic retention time zone directed for efficiency, but non-biodegradable substances were remained. $COD_{Cr}$ biomass loading was 0.81kg $COD_{Cr}/kgMLVSS$ . day at 35hr. of retention time, 0.34 kg$COD_{Cr}$/kg MLVSS . day at 40hr., and O.l9kg$COD_Cr$/kgMLVSS . day at 45hr. And the mean $COD_{Cr}$, removal efficiency was 65.5%, 81.6% and 83.0%, respectively. And also $COD_{Cr}$, volume loading was 1.01kg$COD_{Cr}/m^3$ day, 0.87kg$COD_{Cr}/m^3$ - day, and 0.79kg$COD_{Cr}/m^3{\cdot }$day, respectively. The basic design parameter obtained is as fallows. The value of Specific substrate removal rate coefficient (k), Yield coefficient(Y) and Decay coefficient($k_d$) was $0.0013day^{-1}$, $0.505kgMLVSS/kgCOD_{Cr}$ and $0.040day^{-1}$, respectively.
First, We classified man-made lakes in Korea as 4-type lakes, that is, there were River-run lakes, Dendritic lakes, Reservoir-lakes, River-mouth lakes, We studied on the environmental factors of 3-type lakes except River-mouth lakes, compared these lakes with natural lakes in foreign country. Environmental factors were watershed area, lake storage, mean depth, hydraulic retention time. As a results, 3-type lakes in Korea had remarkable differences one another according to above-mentioned environmental factors. First, We recognized that River-run lakes had higher nutrient loading according to having wider watershed area than natural lakes, and had lower algal growth rate according to shorter hydraulic retention time than natural lakes. Dendritic lake had higher nutrient loading than natural lakes, longer retention time than River-run lake. Reservoir-lakes had environmental factors between Dentritic lakes and River-run lakes. Therefore, If this studies had no quantitative results about various factors, We recognized that man-made lakes in korea had different environmental factors as compared with natural lakes, and had clear classification among 3-type lakes.
The mechanism of micro-bubble generation with a pump is not clarified yet, so the design of water treatment systems with a micro-bubble generating pump is based on trial and error methods. This study tried to explain clearly quantitative relationships of experimental micro-bubble concentration ($C_{air}$) of continuous operation tests with a micro-bubble generating pump and theoretical air solubility. Operation parameters for the tests were discharge pressure ($P_g$), water ($Q_{w0}$) and air ($q_0$) flow rates, orifice diameter ($D_o$), and retention time (t). The experimental micro-bubble concentrations ($C_{air}$) at 4.8 atm of discharge pressure ($P_g$) were in the range of 21.04 to 25.29 mL/L. When the retention time (t) by changing the pipe line length ($L_p$) increased from 1.22 to 6.77s, the experimental micro-bubble concentrations ($C_{air}$) increased from 25.86 to 30.78 mL air/L water linearly. The dissolved and dispersed micro-bubble concentrations ($C_{air}$) are approximately 4 times more than the theoretical air solubility.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of temperature and solid retention time (SRT) on membrane fouling in a membrane bioreactors (MBRs). For this purpose, a lab-scale submerged MBR system was used. This system operated at two SRTs of 15 and 5 days, three various temperatures (20, 25 and $30^{\circ}C$) and hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 8 h. The results indicated that decreased the cake layer resistance and increased particles size of foulant due to increasing temperature and SRT. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis show that the cake layer formed on the membrane surface, contained high levels of proteins and especially polysaccharides in extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) but absorbance intensity of EPS functional groups decreased with temperature and SRT. EEM analysis showed that the peak on the range of Ex/Em=220-240/350-400 in SRT of 15 and temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ indicates the presence of fulvic acid in the cake. In addition, as the temperature rise from 20 to $30^{\circ}C$, concentration of soluble microbial products (SMP) increased and COD removal reached 89%. Furthermore, the rate of membrane fouling was found to increase with decreasing temperature and SRT.
To estimate undegraded intake protein (UIP) fraction in feeds and fodders, on the basis of their neutral detergent insoluble N content was studied. Samples of six feeds and forages were incubated in situ for a time equivalent to their mean retention time, estimated on the basis of their digestibility plus 10 h (to account for a lag in passage of particles from the rumen). The samples were incubated for 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of the estimated total mean retention time. UIP value of leguminous forages, obtained from the fractional rates of degradation and passage, were highly correlated with those estimated from samples incubated for 75% of total mean retention time, while incubating the non-leguminous forages and groundnut cake for this point over estimate the UIP fraction.

Naphthalene sulfonated condensatd(NSF) has been widely using for the superplasticizing of ement and concrete. But NSF has a very large mobility loss with elapsed tiom. To retain mobility of NSF during a certain time, maleic anhydride and acrylic acid copolymer(MA) was polymerized and mixed with NSF in order to perpare admixture holding mobility-retention property of cement. By applying this admixture for ement paste, we examined the fluidity and mobility retention property as a function to elapsed time and measured the compressive strength of mortar with curing time. As a result, NSF containing 20wt% of MA showed very excellent fluidity and mobility-retention property. These properties were affected by the added amount of admixture and the ratio of water to cement.
This study investigated the removal efficiency of organic matter and nitrogen from fish farm effluent by hydraulic retention time (HRT) using an upflow biological filter (ANR system) reactor. The recycling time and influent flow in the reactor were controlled to 14.8, 7.4, 5.5 and 3.2 h to evaluate HRT. In addition, each reactor was coupled to a fixed bed upflow filter charged with media. The results showed that removal efficiency was ${\geq}95%%$ with an HRT of 5.5 h, and nitrification efficiency was reduced to 81% with an HRT of 3.2 h, although nitrification efficiency temporarily decreased due to the shock load as HRT decreased. Total nitrogen removal rate was also reduced to about 65% with an HRT of 3.2 h, which was considered a washout effect of nitrifying and denitrifying microorganisms by increasing the shearing force to the filter media, which decreased organic matter and nitrogen removal efficiency.
