A Case Study on Restaurant Online Coupon Redemption Behavior of Resting Customers (외식업 온라인 쿠폰 이용 사례 연구 : 휴면 고객 재방문을 중심으로)

  • The purposes this study were to a) analyze the revisiting ratio of resting customers after issuing online coupons, b) compare the characteristics of coupon redemption customers with non-redemption customers. For this study, the customers of M restaurant who did not revisit during the last 8 months were classified as 'resting customers', totaling 4,052 customers. The online coupons, valid for 9 months, were sent via e-mail to those customers. After that, the data collected from those who redeemed the coupon in September 2006 was utilized. As a result of sending the coupon to 4,052 resting customers, 1,288 customers redeemed the coupon during the study period, showing relatively high redemption ratio (31.6%). The average check of customers with the online coupon was decreased by 22% compared with customers without the coupon, but the party size remained almost the same, 2.6 customers, and also the redemption ratio was increasing as the expiration date of the coupon was approaching. The redemption ratio of female (35.3%) was much higher than male (19.2%), representing higher redemption possibility of the female customers by issuing the coupon. The redemption ratio of the twenties (69.1%) was obviously higher than other age groups. Also, the non-redemption ratio of other groups except the twenties was higher than the redemption ratio. The redemption ratio of low-educated was higher, under college degree (58.6%), college degree (35.4%), and over college degree (16.6%). Following the result of the average visiting frequency of redemption customers during last the 8 months was 4.2, the frequency of non-redemption customers was 9.8. The total average visiting of non-redemption customer was 10.5, and that of redemption customers was 8.6. Customers who visited the restaurant less frequently in the past have higher possibility to revisit after receiving the coupon.

  • This study is to analyze brand image of housing cultural center to understand how it is shown in the resting place of housing cultural center. We chose the object housing cultural center and made checklist to understand space condition and brand image reflection. housing cultural center should be reborn as a cultural rest space for customers and residents, and especially new definition of function and concept of resting place is necessary. The resting place of housing cultural center is not just offering an extra room for customers but a link-space and an intermediation-space to link the functions of each space where customers stay for long time. So there should be proper design that expresses the brand image for resting place. From the research, we found that the resting place has cafe like design with tables and chairs. Some of them are gallery-cafe like or book-cafe like to emphasize the cultural aspects. But they are not proper to express brand image. So there should be detailed guidelines of design for resting place of housing cultural center to express brand image.

A Study on the Environmental Characteristics of Rest Spaces in Department Stores (백화점 휴게공간의 실내환경특성에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the spatial design of resting spaces in department stores has been changed. The design elements such as colors, materials, lighting, natural elements, furniture arrangement, and VMD are not only providing a pleasant and natural indoor atmosphere in resting spaces but also providing various services to customers. In this study, it aims to analyze how the spatial design characteristics of resting spaces in department stores are appeared. The results are as follows. First, the spatial characteristics of the resting spaces in department sores came up as five factors; accessibility, recognition, comfort, convenience, and esthetics. As the result, the accessibility is the most important factor in resting spaces. Second, the resting spaces was well located near by the elevators and escalators providing easy accessibility to customers to floor. Third, the resting spaces need to improve the spatial design for emphasizing the recognitions by using colors, materials and lighting. Fourth, the resting spaces were provided different atmosphere by their location. Fifth, the various forms of furniture, curved, zigzagged, and cubed, were placed in the resting spaces for comport use. Sixth, the aesthetic was the least important factor of all. To improve this problem, the resting spaces need to provide cultural contents by installing art pieces, moving picture facilities, and VMD. Seven, most of the resting spaces had similar floor plan type that they did not perform their role successfully. The resting spaces need to provide both individual rooms and unique open spaces for giving a choice to use when customers visit them.

  • The lounge space in the fashion shopping mall such as footpath and resting place is attained not only a routine life for a pedestrian ,but also a simple meeting for association and amusement. In comparison with the current advancement of a shopping mall, however the lounge-a resting place for customers who make a visit for shopping and need for resting has changed into being commercial and non commercial -real meaning for resting space has disappeared. Consequently, the purpose of a research is to investigate on the actual condition for noncommercial resting spaces in the shopping mall and to suggest a reform measure through an analysis on the satisfaction percept of users in accordance with the result.

A Proposal for Indoor Greening Patterns by Space Types through the User's Preference Survey (이용자 선호도 조사를 통한 공간유형별 실내녹화유형 제안)

  • Because the demand or sensitivity of users of space has an important influence on the direction of design concerning indoor greening, this study examined the customers' preferences and trends for use in this field. By analyzing the results, types of space for indoor greening that can be utilized as indoor greening design such as vegetation selection, space positioning, design types, etc. were derived. The research and analysis was set for living space, business space, commercial space and public space. For each space, there were vegetations in over 50% of the space, and in all the spaces, the majority of people were of the positive opinion. As the desired space for the introduction of indoor greening, high levels of preference were seen in the following areas: 'veranda' and 'living room' for the residential space; 'main work space' and 'resting space' for the office space; and 'rest area,' 'entrance area' and 'lobby area' for the public space and commercial space. The preference of each of the spaces displayed slightly different trends in accordance with the characteristics of space and users. If indoor greening space were to be designed for these spaces according to the types, which are derived from the preference levels examined in this study, it is deemed that the satisfaction levels of users of the spaces could be increased.
