유사 강지진동을 이용한 수평 및 수직지반응답의 Amplification Factor 스펙트럼 분석 (Analysis of Amplification Factor Spectrum Using Strong Ground Motions Compatible to the Domestic Seismotectonic Characteristics)

  • 실제 관측된 강지진동을 이용하여 증폭요소 스펙트럼을 구하였으며 그 결과를 미국에서 개발된 표준응답 스펙트럼과 비교 및 분석하였다. 본 연구를 위하여 국내의 지진지체구조특성을 충분히 대표 가능한 지진을 선택하였으며 구체적으로 Miramichi, Nahanni, Saguenay 및 New Madrid Earthquake (19 수직성분, 36 수평성분)으로부터 관측된 강지진동을 증폭요소 스펙트럼 분석에 이용하였다. 국내의 지진지체구조특성을 충분히 대표 가능한 지진으로부터 강지진동을 처리하여 수평 및 수직성분에 대한 응답을 계산하고 응답결과를 각각의 성분에 대하여 실제 관측된 강지진동값과 비교를 통하여 증폭요소 스펙트럼을 구하였다. 구하여진 증폭요소 스펙트럼을 미국에서 개발된 표준응답 스펙트럼과 비교 분석한 결과 수평 및 수직성분 공통적으로 약 10Hz 이상의 대역에서 본 연구로부터 구하여진 증폭요소 스펙트럼이 표준응답 스펙트럼에서 제시된 값보다 더 초과하고 있음을 보여주었다. 이러한 결과는 국내의 지진지체구조를 대표하는 지진이 향후 발생하여 이 지진으로부터 관측가능한 강지진동을 이용하여 응답스펙트럼을 분석할 경우 특히 약 10Hz 이상의 대역에서 구하여진 증폭요소 스펙트럼이 표준응답 스펙트럼이 제시한 값보다 초과할 가능성이 있음을 의미한다.

지진하중에 대한 다경간 교량의 비탄성 변위응답 평가 (Evaluation of Inelastic Displacement Response for Multi-Span Bridge Structures Subjected to Earthquakes)

  • To evaluate inelastic seismic responses of multi-span bridge structures, the capacity spectrum method(CSM) incorporating the equivalent single-degree-of freedom(ESDOF) method is presented. Application of the CSM incorporating the ESDOF method is illustrated by example analysis for symmetric and asymmetric bridge structures. To investigate an accuracy of the CSM, the maximum displacements estimated by the CSM are compared to those by inelastic time history analysis for several artificial earthquakes. The results show that the CSM provided conservative estimates of the maximum displacements for the symmetric and asymmetric bridge structures, and the trend of conservative estimates of the asymmetric bridge structures was significantly larger than that of the symmetric bridge structure.

  • Amplification factor spectrum, using the observed strong ground motions database, has been obtained and compared with Standard Response Spectrum, which were suggested by US NRC. The observed ground motions from the Yongwol and the Kyoungju Earthquake, respectively, which are suppose to represent domestic seismotectonic characteristics such as seismic source, attenuation, and site effect, are used for the analysis of amplification factor spectrum. Amplification factors have been calculated by comparing the observed peak ground motions with results from responses to the observed horizontal and vertical ground motions. The comparison shows that the amplification factors resultant from this study exceeds those of Standard Response Spectum at relatively higher frequencies. The results suggest that the characteristics of the seismic strong ground motion, which are supposed to represent the domestic seismotectonic characteristics, differs from those of Standard Response Spectrum, especially at hither frequencies

Structural response analysis in time and frequency domain considering both ductility and strain rate effects under uniform and multiple-support earthquake excitations

  • The structural dynamic behavior and yield strength considering both ductility and strain rate effects are analyzed in this article. For the single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) system, the relationship between the relative velocity and the strain rate response is deduced and the strain rate spectrum is presented. The ductility factor can be incorporated into the strain rate spectrum conveniently based on the constant-ductility velocity response spectrum. With the application of strain rate spectrum, it is convenient to consider the ductility and strain rate effects in engineering practice. The modal combination method, i.e., square root of the sum of the squares (SRSS) method, is employed to calculate the maximum strain rate of the elastoplastic multiple-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) system under uniform excitation. Considering the spatially varying ground motions, a new response spectrum method is developed by incorporating the ductility factor and strain rate into the conventional response spectrum method. In order to further analyze the effects of strain rate and ductility on structural dynamic behavior and yield strength, the cantilever beam (one-dimensional) and the triangular element (two-dimensional) are taken as numerical examples to calculate their seismic responses in time domain. Numerical results show that the permanent displacements with and without considering the strain rate effect are significantly different from each other. It is not only necessary in theory but also significant in engineering practice to take the ductility and strain rate effects into consideration.

국내외 판내부 지진기록을 이용한 한국 표준수직설계스펙트럼의 개발 (Development of Korean Standard Vertical Design Spectrum Based on the Domestic and Overseas Intra-plate Earthquake Records)

  • The vertical design spectrum for Korea, which is known to belong to an intra-plate region, is developed from the ground motion records of the earthquakes occurred in Korea and overseas intra-plate regions. From the statistical analysis of the vertical response spectra, a mean plus one standard deviation spectrum in lognormal distribution is obtained. Regression analysis is performed on this curve to determine the shape of spectrum including transition periods. The developed design spectrum is valid for the estimation both spectral acceleration and displacement. The ratio of vertical to horizontal response spectrum for each record is calculated. Statistical analysis of the ratios rendered the vertical to horizontal ratio (V/H ratio). Subsequently the ratio between the peak vertical ground acceleration to the horizontal one is obtained.

  • 본 논문에서는 해양플랜트용 매니폴드 구조물의 내진해석을 위해, 단순화 모델에 대해 응답스펙트럽해석(RSA) 및 시간이력해석(THA)을 여러 조건으로 진행하여 비교 검토하였다. 응답스펙트럼해석은 ISO19901-2에 따른 내진설계 절차를 이용하였다. 시간이력해석의 경우, 응답스펙트럼으로 가속도와 변위에 대한 지진이력을 인공적으로 만든뒤 Explicit와 Implicit 솔버를 사용하여 해석하였다. 단자유도 모델을 사용하여 해석방법을 검증하였으며, 매니폴드 구조물을 단순화한 모델에서 시간이력해석과 응답스펙트럼해석법의 차이를 분석하였다. 복잡한 실제 구조물에 대해서 직접적인 시간이력해석은 불가능하므로 응답스펙트럼해석법을 적용하였고, 단순화 모델에서 분석한 결과 차이를 활용하여 실제 구조물의 안전성을 판단하였다.

Design of supplemental viscous dampers in inelastic SDOF system based on improved capacity spectrum method

  • A simplified yet effective design procedure for viscous dampers was presented based on improved capacity spectrum method in the context of performance-based seismic design. The amount of added viscous damping required to meet a given performance objective was evaluated from the difference between the total demand for effective damping and inherent damping plus equivalent damping resulting from hysteretic deformation of system. Application of the method is illustrated by means of two examples, using Chinese design response spectrum and mean response spectrum. Nonlinear dynamic analysis results indicate that the maximum displacements of structures installed with supplemental dampers designed in accordance with the proposed method agree well with the given target displacements. The advantage of the presented procedure over the conventional iterative design method is also highlighted.

  • Amplification factor spectrum using the observed strong ground motions database in the Korean Peninsula has been obtained and compared with Standard Rpectrum which wa suggested by United States Nuclear Regulatory Committee. The observed ground motions from the Yongwol and the Kyoungju Earthquakes respectively which are supposed to represent domestic seismotectonic characteristics such as seismic source attenuation of the propagation meium and site specific effect are used for the analysis of amplification factor spectrum,. The database are slightly different from the those of the second study. Amplification factors have been calculated by comparing the observed peak ground motions with results from responses to the observed horizontal na vertical ground motions. The comparison have shown that the amplification factors resultant from this study exceeds those of Standard Response Spectrum The results suggest that the characteristics of seismic strong ground motion which are supposed to represent the domestic seismotectonic characteristics differs from those of Standard Response Spectrum especially at higher frequencies. The results from the 2nd study are similar to those of 1st analysis.

강사장교의 지진응답특성 및 내진 안전성 평가 (The Earthquake Response Characteristics and Seismic Safety Evaluation of Steel Cable Stayed Bridges)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 내진 설계규정에서 고려하고 있지 않은 근거리지진의 특성을 규명하고, 사장교 구조물에 미치는 영향을 검토하고자 한다. 대표적인 근거리 및 원거리지진의 실측자료를 선정한 후, 탄성 및 비탄성응답스펙트럼을 작성하여 지진기록의 특성을 분석하였다. 세 가지 형식의 사장교 및 실제 사장교 구조물을 대상으로 지진특성에 따른 응답해석을 수행하여 주요부재에 대한 응답특성을 비교 분석하였다. 또한 지진응답해석 결과를 이용하여 신뢰성해석을 수행하였으며, 신뢰성지수 및 파괴확률을 검토함으로써 대상 사장교 구조물의 내진 안전성을 정량적으로 평가하였다. 응답스펙트럼, 지진응답해석 및 신뢰성해석 결과에 의하면 근거리지진이 사장교 응답에 대한 영향은 기존의 원거리지진과는 상이한 양상을 보이고 있으므로, 사장교 구조물 설계 시 중요한 인자로 고려해야 할 것을 제시하고자 한다.

캐비닛내부응답스펙트럼 산정을 위한 리츠방법의 정식화 및 단순예제를 통한 검증 (Formulation and Verification on Ritz Method for In-Cabinet Response Spectrum)

  • Safety-related cabinets and their electrical parts, such as relays and switches in nuclear power plants, should maintain continuous functioning, as well as structural safety according to the nuclear regulatory guidelines. Generally, an electrical part is qualified if its functioning is maintained without abnormality during excitement by motion compatible with the test response spectrum, which is larger than its in-cabinet response spectrum (ICRS). ICRS can be determined by shake-table test or dynamic analysis. Since existing cabinets in use can hardly be stopped and moved, dynamic analysis is preferred over shake-table test in determining ICRS. The simple method, suggested by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to determine ICRS, yields conservative or non-conservative results from time to time. In order to determine that the ICRS is better than EPRI method in a simple way, Ritz method considering global and local plate behaviors was suggested by Gupta et al. In this paper, the Ritz method is modified in order to consider the rocking and frame behaviors simultaneously, and it is applied to a simple numerical example for verification. ICRS is determined by Ritz method and compared with the results by finite element method (FEM). Based on this numerical example, recommendations for using Ritz method are suggested.
