Because stow net being used in now is doing throwing net and hauling net through a ship's side, the work is very complicated and the fishing boat needs many seamen and it could cause a loss of lives and ship in stormy weather. We are now using small mesh size 36~500mm and it even catches young fish, so we call it the fishing gear of resource reduction type. Therefore we must make manpower reduction in automatic operation, safe operation of throwing net and hauling net in the stern and the stern-typed stow net of resource management using large mesh. And we performed three-typed model tests to examine the fishing gear. The obtained results are as follows;1. The fishing gear being used in the ship's side type stow net has inappropriate standard and arrangement of the net, resistance increase of the fishing gear and frequent breakdown of the net.2. To supplement the fault of A-typed stow net, we schemed fishing gear developed as both B-type(12-seamed net) and C-types(8-seamed net) of the stern-typed stow net. 3. In model tests, C-typed model net(mesh size 40~1,600mm) was proved good fishing gear because the resistance in accordance with the flowing speed was comparatively small and it's mouth area was broad. 4. A-typed stow net had the spreading device attached to side panel of the net, but the stern-typed stow net had the spreading device consisted of 4 lines far behind about 6m from side panel of the net mouth. In the flowing speed 2knot, the spreading condition of fishing gear was proved batter than the former.
Many countries have implemented a variety of climate and energy policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and expand renewable energy production. The ultimate goals of those policies are associated with transition to a low-carbon economy that aims to combat climate change and economic growth. This study aims to examine empirically if the countries which implement overlapping climate policies and renewable energy policies show additional reduction of the GHG emissions than the countries which implement single climate or renewable energy policy. The result shows that overlapping policies contribute to reduce additional GHG but not all cases. In particular, only overlapping policies mixing 'ETS and RPS(renewable portfolio standards)' and 'Carbon Tax and FIT(Feed-in Tariff)' can lead to additional reduction of GHG emissions.
Two experiments were conducted to determine the effects of $MnSO_4$ on controlling harmful microorganisms in vitro and in vivo. The in vitro experiment was conducted to examine the effects of manganese sulfate $(MnSO_4)$ on the reduction of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) by growth stimulation of Pediococcus acidilactici (P. acidilactici; lactic acid bacteria). Manganese ion (0.003 %) was found to stimulate the growth of P. acidilactici in the In Vitro system. When E. coli and S. aureus were grown in a mixture with P. acidilactici, their numbers were reduced. This may be the result of a reduction of pH in the medium as a result of better growth of P. acidilactici due to stimulation by the Mn ion. The in vivo experiment was conducted to determine the effects of $MnSO_4$ in diets on controlling harmful microorganisms in fecal samples of pigs. There were no significant differences for the microbial numbers (i.e., total microorganisms, E. coli, lactic acid bacteria and S. aureus) in feces of pigs fed $MnSO_4$ compared to feces of pigs fed the control diet through 7 days. However, on day 7 of experiment, the pH of feces in pigs fed $MnSO_4$ (0.1%) decreased faster than pigs fed the control diet.
This study aims at understanding the characteristics of global economic models, which are widely used for climate change policy analysis. A literature review study was conducted in order to derive general features of top-down models such as CGE and bottom-up/hybrid models such as GTEM. Furthermore, a structural analysis was carried out by applying parameter and structural components from other models to a particular model to observe the potential differences in outcomes. Literature review shows that bottom-up or hybrid models generally have higher level of reduction potentials than top-down models in the long run. This contradicts the conclusion presented by IPCC, and raises the need for more rigorous investigation through structural analysis. Structural analysis of EPPA model indicates that the structural component of the energy sector in a particular model is the most influential factor in predicting baseline emissions and reduction potentials. This includes the structure among energy, capital, and labor inputs, and the substitution elasticities within the energy bundle. Technology bundle can establish the conclusions from literature review, and change in Armington elasticities do not significantly affect the outcome in aggregate.
The Japanese government's attempts to reduce fine particles (PM2.5) emission pollution in Japan have been largely ineffective. This is because PM2.5 in Japan originated from various sources including around half from oversea countries such as China. This prompts the Japanese government to start a new initiative to reduce PM2.5 at its origin by transferring local knowledge on air pollution reduction measures and technologies to China and working closely with the Chinese government. To promote further reduction in PM2.5, bilateral corporation between Japan and China should be extended to include Korea. It is recommended that an international convention should be in place to deal with transboundary air pollutants in East Asia. A successful East Asia corporation to reduce PM2.5 will not only contribute to clean air but also to future sustainable low carbon society in this region.
This study investigates a decomposition analysis of the determinants of the reduced $CO_2$ emissions in seven OECD countries that implemented carbon taxes from 1995 to 2013. Recent studies on decomposition analysis of changes in $CO_2$ emissions focused on technology-based physical factors; however, this study analyzes the effects of a carbon tax as an economic factor. According to the results obtained by using the Log Mean Divisia Index, the energy intensity effect and the carbon tax effect contributed the most towards the reduction of total $CO_2$ emissions in the seven OECD countries. The results for each country show that the emissions decreased due to the energy intensity effect, while the effects of carbon tax and carbon tax revenues differed by policy and environment of the countries.

This study evaluated the effect of the addition of pig skin gelatine powder with different levels on the chemical compositions, cooking characteristics, and sensory properties of tteokgalbi. Tteokgalbi was produced from products containing 0% (control), 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% pig skin gelatine powder. The protein and moisture contents of samples increased with an increase of pig skin gelatin powder levels. In addition, the pH value and CIE $b^*$ values of uncooked and cooked samples increased with increasing amount of pig skin gelatin powder. However, cooking loss, diameter reduction, and thickness reduction of samples decreased with an increase of gelatin powder contents. The hardness, gumminess, and chewiness of samples increased with an increase of gelatin powder contents, and sensory evaluation of tteokgalbi containing 2~3% pig skin gelatin powder was the highest. Therefore, usages of pig skin gelatin powder can improve quality characteristics of tteokgalbi.
Generally speaking, firms, faced with a regulatory environment, are likely to use more or less inputs than optimal level due to allocative inefficiency of inputs. This paper, first, tests allocative efficiency of fuel inputs and calculates the divergence between the actual and optimal levels of each fuel input conditional on the optimal level of capital stock in Korean thermal power industry. Then, given that each fuel is efficiently allocated. potential reduction of $CO_2$ is estimated over the period 1987~2008. The null hypothesis of allocative efficiency with respect to all fuels is rejected, indicating that thermal power plants fail to attain cost minimization subject do market prices. Allocative efficiency between each pair of fuels is also tested; efficient uses of fuels relative to each other are all rejected. Empirical results indicate that coal and gas are used more and oil is used less than optimal level. On average, more than 10 million tons of $CO_2$ per year could be reduced by achieving allocative efficiency of fuels.
This study has developed Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model reflecting endogenous growth economic theory, with the aim of analyzing double dividend hypothesis. This study analyzes possibility of economic growth and environmental improvement at the same time when government recycles the revenue of carbon tax to reduce existed taxes such as consumption tax, labor income tax, corporate tax. It also assesses the case of subsidy on R&D investment of renewable energy. With new and renewable generation technology adopted and disseminated, GDP loss would be lessened to a great degree. Tax recycling would provide economic gain by reducing distortion existed in the existing fiscal structure. The magnitude of economic gains from carbon tax recycling is biggest for recycling into corporate tax, and labor income tax, and then consumption tax in this order. It is also shown that double dividend effects occur in dynamic terms when government uses a carbon tax revenue to subsidize on R&D investment. At the end of the analysis period, emissions reduction would not result in GDP loss but in GDP gain. In particular, recycling into R&D increase would produce the largest and fastest GDP gain. Thus, implementing emissions reduction target would require careful consideration of economic effects by various policy instrument, including carbon tax.
This study conducts economic evaluation of alternatives for $CO_2$ reduction of thermal power plants. Two alternatives in reducing $CO_2$ emission are considered for the evaluation under the RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standard) system; one is to perform renewable energy quotas and another is to construct green thermal power plants using CCS(Carbon Capture and Sequestration). As evaluation methods, DCF(Discount Cash Flow) and ROPM(Real Options Pricing Method) are employed. At a discount rate of 7.5% applied to the Electricity Supply and Demand Plan, it is shown that green thermal power generation has economic dominance under both evaluation methods.
