  • The speed variation of SRM is fulfilled throughout a transition from chopping control to single pulse operation. (i,e., low speed to high speed operation). It is unsatisfied with performance at all operational regimes. In this paper, the operational performance of SRM can be improved by using current hysteresis control method. This method maintains a generally flat current waveform. At the high speed, the current chopping capability is lost due to the development of the back-EMF. Therefore SRM operates in single pulse mode. By using zero-current switching and zero-voltage switching technique, the stress of power switches can be reduce in chopping mode. When the commutation from one phase winding to another phase winding, the current can be zero as fast as possible in this period because several times negative voltage of DC-source voltage produce in phase winding. This paper is compared to performance based on conventional C-dump converter topology and the proposed resonant C-dump converter topology. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed circuit.

  • Rational scaling of design earthquake ground motions for tall buildings is essential for safer, risk-based design of tall buildings. This paper provides the structural designers with an insight for more rational scaling based on drift and input energy demands. Since a resonant sinusoidal motion can be an approximate critical excitation to elastic and inelastic structures under the constraint of acceleration or velocity power, a resonant sinusoidal motion with variable period and duration is used as an input wave of the near-field and far-field ground motions. This enables one to understand clearly the relation of the intensity normalization index of ground motion (maximum acceleration, maximum velocity, acceleration power, velocity power) with the response performance (peak interstory drift, total input energy). It is proved that, when the maximum ground velocity is adopted as the normalization index, the maximum interstory drift exhibits a stable property irrespective of the number of stories. It is further shown that, when the velocity power is adopted as the normalization index, the total input energy exhibits a stable property irrespective of the number of stories. It is finally concluded that the former property on peak drift can hold for the practical design response spectrum-compatible ground motions.

  • In this paper, the diode bridge-type ZVT(Zero- Voltage Transition) inverter is proposed. It consists of one a auxiliaI${\gamma}$ switch, three resonant inductors and six blockin당 diodes. So, the main advantage of the proposed t torXJ!ogy is the reduction of the auxiliar${\gamma}$ switch compare to the conventional ZVT inverter. The topology of t the propostxl lVT inverter is analyztxl with a description of the control conditions based on the load current. A And the resonant period control for operating the proposed inverter optimally is discussed by using resonant i inductor current ftxxlback. To verify the proposed topology, the detailed simulation and exJX끼mental results i indicate that zero volta당e operation during transition can be achieved.

  • Mismatch between switching frequency and circuit parameters often occurs in industrial applications, which would lead to instability phenomena. The bifurcation behavior of $V^2$ controlled buck converter is investigated as the pulse width modulation period is varied. Nonlinear behavior is analyzed based on the monodromy matrix of the system. We observed that the stable period-1 orbit was first transformed to the period-2 bifurcation, which subsequently changed to chaos. The mechanism of the series of period-2 bifurcations shows that the characteristic eigenvalue of the monodromy matrix passes through the unit circle along the negative real axis. Resonant parametric perturbation technique has been applied to prevent the onset of instability. Meanwhile, the extended stability region of the converter is obtained. Simulation and experimental prototypes are built, and the corresponding results verify the theoretical analysis.

  • Fatigue properties of composite materials are extremely important to design durable and reliable helicopter rotor blades. However, it is very difficult to apply conventional fatigue test loads in short period. Therefore, accelerating test speed and facilitating spectrum load realization are required. In this study, we have developed a fatigue testing method that uses a resonance of simply supported beam type blade specimen. This test consists in exciting the blade specimen with a frequency that corresponds to its natural frequency. In that case, the test specimen similar to a beam fixed between two pivot points starts vibrating and is significantly deformed. Resonant fatigue tests were performed by changing exciting vertical amplitude and frequency, and S-N curves of each composite materials were successfully obtained.

  • For the ground resrxmse analysis, both in-situ and laboratory testing techniques such as downhole, SASW, resonant column and torsional shear tests were perlormed for Hong-Seong area. The grOlmd upper 30m is classified as SD since it has an average shear wave velocity as 209m/s. The response specLrums obtained by site-specific analyses generally satisfied the seismic code, but near the resonance period the motion was evaluated to be higher than the code.

  • A ZVS resonant DC-link inverter using soft switching boost converter is proposed in this paper. The proposed inverter is capable of switching in zero voltage states during the zero-dc-link-voltage period. As a result, the proposed circuit can reduce the switching loss. Operational principles and detailed analysis are presented. Simulation results are also presented to verify the operation principle.

  • When a force impulse acting on a massive and plex object is measured with a dynamometer, be resonant vibration of the measurement system often leads to serious inaccuracies. A more accurate measurement is obtained when the transfer function ,of the object-dynamometer system is used to compensate for the error in the dynamometer's output signal. The natural frequency and the damping coefficient of the transfer function are estimated by analyzing the waveform of the free damped vibration period after the loading of the force has ended. The residue of the system is determined such that the compensated force spectrum becomes smooth within a neighborhood of the natural frequency. The effectiveness of this signal processing method is experimentally tested on a hammer impulse, under the assumption that the hammer's high resonant frequency accurately models the problems encountered in force impact measurement. The compensation method is used to derive a improved estimate of the hammer impulse.
