A direct pulp capping with different medicaments has been attempted for a long time. The most commonly used among those is the calcium hydroxide. In primary teeth, however, a success rate of direct pulp capping with calcium hydroxide has been reported to be lower than that of pulpotomy. The disappointing results of calcium hydroxide have prompted the search for other capping materials. Lately, several researchers suggested an application of adhesive resin-based composite systems as a capping material. They claimed that when an exposed vital pulp is capped directly with bonding resin, the pulp tissue is free of inflammation or necrosis without clinical symptoms. The aim of this study was to compare short-term effects of the bonding resin which was applied on the mechanically exposed vital pulp tissue and those of direct pulp capping with calcium hydroxide. The second objective was to compare success rates of the primary teeth which already underwent physiologic root resorption and those of the teeth which had not undergone physiologic root resorption yet, in each capping material groups. The vital, healthy pulp of forty-one primary teeth were exposed mechanically during a cavity preparation. They were divided into two groups: Group 1(n=21) underwent capping with bonding resin, and group 2(n=20) underwent capping with calcium hydroxide. Then these two groups were subdivided into two groups in each : the teeth which show physiologic root resorption and the teeth without root resorption. All of the sample teeth were restored with composite resin. Clinical evaluations such as percussion test, ice test, EPT, were recorded and also before- and after- standard x-ray films were compared and evaluated to decide whether the case was successful or not. Evaluation was performed at least 3 months after the capping materials. The results were as follows 1. There was no difference in success rate between group 1 and group 2. 2. Success rate of the teeth with physiologic root resorption was higher than that of the teeth without physiologic root resorption in group 1 and group 2. 3. There was no difference in success rate between anterior teeth and posterior teeth.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of mechanical, chemical surface treatments on the zirconia-to-resin cement shear bond strength (SBS). Materials and methods: Eighty zirconia discs (Lava, 3M ESPE) and eighty zirconia/alumina composite (Zirace, Acucera) were embedded in an epoxy resin base. Zirconia discs were randomly divided in to four treatment groups(10 for each manufacturer): $50\;{\mu}m$$Al_2O_3$ sandblasting (S50), $110\;{\mu}m$$Al_2O_3$ sandblasting (S110), $50\;{\mu}m$$Al_2O_3$ and primer (Z-Prime Plus, Bisco Inc) (S50z) and $110\;{\mu}m$$Al_2O_3$ and primer (Z-Prime Plus) (S110z). Two resin-based luting cements (Calibra, Panavia F) were used to build 2 mm diameter cylinders onto the zirconia. After 24 h of storage in water, SBS testing was evaluate using a universal testing machine. Bond strength data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA test and post hoc comparison was done using Tukey test (${\alpha}$ = .05). Results: Groups using primer showed the high shear bond strength. The groups that did not use primer presented lower shear bond strengths. Conclusion: The use of primer (Z-Prime Plus, Bisco) had significantly higher shear bond strengths.
The aim of this study was to determine the shear bond properties of four dentin bonding systems to internal cervical dentin, and to investigate the effect of the pretreatment for removing smear layer and position of dentin on shear bond strength of dentin bonding agents. The materials tested in this study were consisted of four commercially available dentin bonding systems[Allbond 2(AB), Clearfil Linerbond 2(CL), Optibond FL(OP), Scotchbond Multi-purpose(SB)], a restorative light-cured composite resin[Z100]J and a chelating agent[RC-prep(RC)]. Fifty-six freshly extracted human molars were used in this study. Dentin specimens were prepared by first cutting the root of the tooth 1mm below the cementoenamel junction with a diamond bur in a high speed handpiece under air-water coolant, and then removing occlusal part at pulp horn level by means of a second parallel section, The root canal areas were exposed by means of cutting the dent in specimens perpendicular to the root axis. Dentin specimens were randomly assigned to two groups(pretreated group, not-pretreated group) based on the pretreatment method of dentin surface. In pretreated group, RC was applied to dentin surface for 1minute and then rinsed with NaOCl. In not-pretreated group, dentin surface was rinsed with saline Each groups were subdevided into four groups according to dentin bonding systems. Four dentin bonding systems and a restorative resin were applied according to the directions of manufacturer. The dentin-resin specimens were embedded in a cold cure acrylic resin, and were cut with a low speed diamond saw to the dimension of $1{\times}1mm$. The cut specimens were divided into three groups according to the position of internal cervical dentin. The shear bond properties of dentin-resin specimens were measured with Universal testing machine (Zwick, 020, Germany) with the cross head speed of 0.5mm/min. From this experiment. the following results were obtained : 1. In case of shear bond strength, there was no significant difference among dentin bonding systems in not-pretreated groups, whereas in pretreated groups, the shear bond strengths of AB and of SB were statistically significantly higher than those of CL and of OP. 2. The shear bond strengths of AB and of SB in pretreated groups were significantly higher than those in not-pretreated groups. 3. The shear bond strengths of radicular layer of OP were higher than those of occlusal layer of OP in not-pretreated groups, and of AB in pretreated groups. The shear bond strengths of radicular layer of AB and of CL in not-pretreated groups were higher than those in pretreated group.

As a part of studies to lower the infrared (IR) emissivity from the surface of exhaust nozzle in the turbo jet engine, stainless steel plate was coated with copper particle/meta-aramid resin composites and the IR emissivity of the plate were investigated. Binders of filler particles based on synthetic polymers generally undergo thermal decomposition before $300^{\circ}C$. It was found that the meta aramid resin was thermally stable after the test at $320^{\circ}C$, confirming the excellent thermal stability. Contents of copper particles in the composites were varied from 0 to 70% by volume. It was observed that the copper particle/meta aramid resin composites showed good adhesion after the tests at $320^{\circ}C$. The specimen coated with the composite containing 50 vol% of copper particles showed the lowest IR emissivity, 0.6, at $320^{\circ}C$.
This paper is on for a material to replace the petroleum-based resins used as adhesives for the fiber in rubber composite materials. The study limited to the reaction properties of tannin with formaldehyde. Tannin-formaldehyde(TF) reactions were carried out in aqueous media. Rates of reaction were strongly dependent on concentration, temperature, pH, and the mole ratio of tannin to formaldehyde. Viscosities of reaction mixtures were followed up to gelation. The reactivity of tannin-formaldehyde resins was greater than that of resorcinol-formaldehyde resins. To formulate an adhesive, a styrene-butadiene-vinyl pyridine terpolymer latex(L) was added to the TF. This preliminary results suggest that the condensed tannins have considerable promise as substitutes for resorcinol used in resin formulation for bonding of fiber to rubber.
Two-dimensional carbon/carbon preforms made of PAN-based carbon yarn and phenolic resin were densified with pyrolysis of propane by pulse chemical vapor infiltration where repeated the cycle of gas introduction residence and evacuation. Maximim density increment was 14% when infiltration temperature and time were 100$0^{\circ}C$ and 21.25 hrs respectively. The distribution of deposits of pyrocarbon by this process has been occurred uniformly in the bottom middle and top of carbon/carbon composite preform Pulse CVI with residence is most effective in increasing density and shortening infiltration time among isothermal CVI and pulse CVI with and without residence.

Amelogenesis imperfecta patients suffered common clinical problems of poor esthetics, teeth sensitivity, and loss of occlusal vertical dimension. Amelogenesis imperfecta is a group of inherited disorders primarily affecting dental enamel. Variants of amelogenesis imperfecta generally classified hypoplastic, hypocalcified, or hypomaturation types based on the primary enamel defects. The mildest problems were found in the pitted hypoplastic type whereas the most severe problems were encountered in the hypocalcified type amelogenesis imperfecta. Management stragies include composite resin veneer and jacket crowns for anterior teeth as well as steel crowns for posterior teeth. Knowledge of the clinical features and dental complications of each variants if amelogenesis impecta helps in the diagnosis of the condition and allows institution of early preventive measures. The objective of this paper is to provide a review of the current concepts of the wide spectrum of etiological factors involved in the pathogenesis of this significance clinical entity in the primary dentition.

Recently, epoxy based nano-composites are being increasingly investigated for their electrical properties, since the introduction of nano fillers demonstrate several advantages in their properties when compared with the similar properties obtained for epoxy systems with micrometer sized fillers. We calculated scale and shape parameter using dielectric strength. In this paper, it is investigated that the allowable' breakdown probability of specimens is stable at some value using Weibull statistics. Therefore we found that breakdown probability of specimens is stable until 20 [%].
Recently carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) has been used structural materials in corrosive environment such as for water, chemical tank and pipes. However, mechanical properties of such materials may be change when CFRP and exposed to corrosive environment for long periods of time. The degradation behavior of carbon fiber/epoxy resin composite material in distilled water is investigated using acoustic emission (AE) technique, Fracture toughness tests are performed on the compact tension specimens that are pilled by two types of $[O_2/9O_2]_{3s}$ and $[O/9O]_6s$. During the testes, AE test was carried out to monitor the damage of CFRP by moisture absorption. The data was treated by 2-parameter Weibull distribution and the fracture surface was observed by scanning electron microscope.
