  • Purpose: This study aimed to confirm the applicability of gloss polishing using automatic barrel finishing with respect to three-dimensional (3D)-printed resin specimens. The surface roughness and grinding angle of the 3D-printed resin specimens were observed with respect to gloss polishing time using automatic dental barrel finishing. Methods: Herein, experiments were conducted on four types of 3D-printed resin specimens. The specimens, with a thickness of 100 ㎛ each, were printed using a 3D printer. Subsequently, light polymerization was performed on these specimens for 15 min. Post this surface treatment, the specimens underwent grinding for 25 min. This process was followed by gloss polishing at 5-min intervals for up to 25 min using automatic dental barrel finishing. The specimens were photographed using a 3D optical microscope, and their surface roughness and grinding angle were measured. Results: The Ra (centerline average roughness) values of all the specimens, except for crown & bridge 10 group and those in the control group that were not polished using automatic barrel finishing, were <0.2 ㎛. However, polishing time needs to be controlled to realize the desired surface roughness and grinding amount considering the hardness of the resin used. Conclusion: Gloss polishing of 3D-printed resin can be realized using automatic dental barrel finishing. However, polishing time needs to be controlled to realize the desired surface roughness and grinding amount considering the hardness of the resin used.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was analyzed by comparing the effect of glass fiber reinforcement addition on the strength of resin denture base. It was intended to provide a reference data useful for clinical application. Methods: The test specimens (length $64.0{\pm}0.1mm$, width $10.0{\pm}0.1mm$, thickness $1.0{\pm}0.1mm$, $1.5{\pm}0.1mm$, and $2.0{\pm}0.1mm$ respectively) were made. In the experimental groups resin denture base reinforced with glass fiber were fabricated. In the control groups resin denture base were fabricated by conventional method. After specimen fabrication was completed, transverse test was performed using a universal testing machine. Results: The transverse strength value in CON group was $83.08{\pm}9.07MPa$ for 1.0 mm, which ranked the highest in value. On the other hand, the value was $56.07{\pm}5.15MPa$ for 2.0mm, which ranked the lowest in value. And CON+SES group was $119.80{\pm}30.70MPa$ for 1.0mm, which ranked the highest in value. On the other hand, the value was $84.00{\pm}7.97MPa$ for 2.0mm, which ranked the lowest in value. Also, the flexural modulus value in CON group was $2,983.10{\pm}506.92MPa$ for 1.0mm, which ranked the highest in value. On the other hand, the value was $1,257.64{\pm}230.48MPa$ for 2.0mm, which ranked the lowest in value. And CON+SES group was $4,679.41{\pm}1578.29MPa$ for 1.0mm, which ranked the highest in value. On the other hand, the value was $2,512.36{\pm}527.09MPa$ for 2.0mm, which ranked the lowest in value. Conclusion: The reinforced glass fiber increased the strength of resin denture base, effected to reduce the thickness of resin denture base.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the flexural behavior of polymer concrete sandwich panels which was made of unsaturated polymer resin. Bending tests under 4point loading was conducted for the 8 type of sandwich panel with different core and facing thickness. Results show that Load-Deflection, shearing force- shear strain, moment strength - strain relationships were effected by core and facing thickness.

  • The objective of this study is to develop a polymer mortar floor members for wine housing with high strength and durability using unsaturated polyester resin to complement defects of conventional cement concrete. Physical and mechanical properties of the polymer mortar floor members for swine housing are also investigated. Specimens with different panel thickness and FRP reinforcement are prepared, tested, and analyzed with respect to structural behaviors. Cracking moment is mostly affected by the thickness and reinforced FRP. Data of the study can be applied to the designing and planning of floor members for swine housing.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of number and location of finger joints on the bending strength of glue-laminated lumbers. Urea resin adhesives were used in this experiment and the resin content was 70% for cold pressing. The lamina were edge-jointed and end-jointed. The specimen were composed of one or three layers. The obtained results are summarized as follows; The effects of finger joints on the decrease of bending strength of glue laminated woods were different according to the number and location of finger joints. The decrease of MOR was highest on the middle position of laminated woods. The effects of several arrangements of finger joints on the bending strength of glue laminated woods showed on Figure 7 and 8. The variance of thickness-laminating on the bending strength of glue laminated woods were larger than those of width-laminating.

  • The ultraviolet(UV)-curable materials wildly have been used as a ink and coating materials. A according to measure UV polymerization phase separation of acryl groups 2,3,4-functional monomer, a few experiments were performed gel fraction, dynamic viscosity of alkyd resin blend system. Dependence of photoiniator concentration and various monomer, alkyd resin content investigated structural changes of films cured by UV irradiation. Curing rate measured UV irradiation under $25^{\circ}C$, cell gap 7cm and film thickness 100${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. In results, it was through that the viscoelastic properties of films cured with increasing the ratios of monomer/alkydresin contents are network polymer in properties such as viscoelasticity.

  • The effect of heat treatment and mechanical stress on the dielectic strength of epoxy resin film is studied. The film with 30-210 .mu.m thickness are casted at room temperature for 8 hours and post cured at the range of temperature 60-180 .deg. C, and the heat setting time are two kind, ie, 2 and 10 hours. The samples are made with Stycast 1266 that the primary compound is diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A, and the hardner is denaturated polyamines. Under no mechanical stresses, the maximum dielectric strength of the sample is obtained for the sample heat treated for 2 hours at 150 .deg. C. However, the best dielectric strength characteristics under compressive stress is obtained for the sample heat treated at 90 .deg. C and 120 .deg. C. The dielectric strength of the sample are also affected significantly by the cooling velocity of the sample after post heat setting at given temperature.

  • This paper gives a basic data of the surface discharge characteristics for epoxy resin in Dry-Air. Used electrodes are needle to plane, sphere to plane and KS M3015 electrodes. With the changing electrodes in same condition, we can obtain different creeping lengthes, breakdown voltages and dielectric strengths, respectively. Dielectric strengths of Needle to plane electrodes are more higher than the others. Breakdown voltage and dielectric strength increase as the thickness of epoxy resin and creeping strength increase.

  • An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the frosting behaviors of thermally conductive plastic(PBT based resin) resin by comparing with those of aluminum and some plastic(PTFE based resin) test specimens. It is found that the frosting behavior of plastic specimens with 1 mm thickness show similar trend with aluminum except PTFE. The properties of frost formed on the specimens are affected by both thermal conductivityand surface characteristics (hydrophilic/hydrophobic) of the materials. It can be said that the heat and mass transfer rate of plastic materials are almost equivalent with those of aluminum.

  • In this paper sandwich structures like beams and plates are optimised by using parametric study. The structures are composed of fibre reinforced composites for facial material and resin concrete and PVC foam for core materials. The stacking sequences and thickness of the composites are controlled as major parameters to find out the optimal condition for machine tool components. For the plate structure for machine tool bed composites-skined sandwich structure which has several ribs are proposed to enhance both directional bending stiffnesses at the same time. From the results optimal configuration and materials for high precesion machine tools are proposed.
