In order to reduce the time and cost for assembly, automobile speaker grills have been injection molded with door trims or map pockets in one piece recently. However, several defects such as short shots or air traps can easily occur due to the decreased fluidity of the melting polymer according to the excessive heat transfer to the mold. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the resin feed system and predict possible defects by CAE analysis. However it is not possible to obtain exact analysis results for the speaker grill by using general shell elements since the heat transfer in the thickness direction which is the dominant factor of the filling stage can not be considered. Therefore, there have been several efforts to simulate the injection molding nature of the speaker grill by using shell elements with an effective thickness which is smaller than the actual thickness of the part. Two empirical values have been recommended for the effective thickness in real practice. One is 50∼70% of the thickness of the speaker grill and another is the gap distance between the adjacent holes. In this paper, CAE analyses of a map pocket with a speaker grill were conducted using shell elements with both of these recommended effective thicknesses, and the predicted flow fronts were compared with the findings from injection molding experiments. The commercial code MOLDFLOW was used for injection molding analysis and an 850 ton injection molding machine was used for experiments.
A simple and reliable method has been developed to selectively separate and concentrate trace amounts of Fe(III) ions from water and food samples by using flame atomic absorption spectrometry. A new reagent, 5-hydroxy-4-ethyl-5,6-di-pyridin-2-yl-4,5-dihydro-2H-[1,2,4] triazine-3-thione, was synthesized and characterized by using FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Effects of pH, concentration and volume of elution solution, sample flow rate, sample volume and interfering ions on the recovery of Fe(III) were investigated. The optimum pH was found to be 5. Eluent for quantitative elution was 10 mL of 2 M HCl. The preconcentration factor of the method, detection limit (3s/b, ${\mu}gL^{-1}$) and relative standard deviation values were found to be 25, 4.59 and 1%, respectively. In order to verify the accuracy of the method, two certified reference materials (TMDA 54.4 lake water and SRM 1568a rice flour) were analyzed. The results obtained were in good agreement with the certified values. The method was successfully applied to the determination of Fe(III) ions in water and food samples.
A modern optical fiber manufacturing process requires the sufficient cooling of glass fibers freshly drawn from the heated and softened silica preform in the furnace, since the inadequately cooled glass fibers are known to cause improper polymer resin coating on the fiber surface and to adversely affect the product quality of optical fibers. In order to greatly enhance the fiber cooling effectiveness at increasingly high fiber drawing speed, it is necessary to use a dedicated glass fiber cooling unit with helium gas injection between glass fiber drawing and coating processes. The present numerical study features a series of three-dimensional flow and heat transfer computations on the cooling gas and the fast moving glass fiber to analyze the cooling performance of glass fiber cooling unit, in which the helium is supplied through the discretely located rectangular injection holes. The air entrainment into the cooling unit at the fiber inlet is also included in the computational model and it is found to be critical in determining the helium purity in the cooling gas and the cooling effectiveness on glass fiber. The effects of fiber drawing speed and helium injection rate on the helium purity decrease by air entrainment and the glass fiber cooling are also investigated and discussed.
The purpose of this study is application to flame retardant powder coating(FRPC) material consisting of ammonium polyphosphate(APP) and magnesium hydroxide($Mg(OH)_2$) as a halogen free flame retardant into thermoplastic resin(LDPE-g-MAH). For improvement of adhesion, LDPE-g-MAH was synthesized from low density polyethylene(LDPE) and maleic anhydride(MAH). The mechanical properties as melt flow index, pencil hardness, cross-hatch adhesion and impact resistance of FRPC were measured. Also, the limited oxygen index(LOI) values were measured 17.3vol%, 31.1vol% and 33.7vol% for LDPE-g-MAH, FRPC-3(APP 15wt%, $Mg(OH)_2$ 15wt%) and FRPC-5(APP 30 wt%), respectively. The thermo gravimetry/differential thermal analysis(TG/DTA) of FPRC-3 was observed endothermic peak at $340^{\circ}C$ and $450^{\circ}C$, it was confirmed predominant thermal stability though the wide temperature range by APP and $Mg(OH)_2$. It was showed V-0 grade for FRPC-3 and FRPC-4(APP 20wt%, $Mg(OH)_2$ 10wt%) that a char formation and drip suppressing effect, and combustion time reduced by UL94(vertical burning test). It was confirmed that flame retardancy was improved with the synergy effect because of char formation by APP and $Mg(OH)_2$.
When conventional root canal treatment is failed or contraindicated, retrograde root canal filling following apicoectomy is a valuable procedure, aimed at hermetically sealing the root canal against leakage of irritants from the canal into the periapical tissue. In this in vitro investigation, to analyze apical microleakage electrochemically in teeth with different retrograde filling materials and preparation types, single - rooted tooth was cut 2mm from the apex and each Class I and Slot preparation was prepared. Experimental groups : Group 1. Amalgam filling with cavity varnish in Class I preparation Group 2. Scotchbond 2+Silux filling in Class I preparation Group 3. Gutta percha filling with ZOE cement in Class I preparation Group 4. Amalgam filling with cavity varnish in Slot preparation Group 5. Scotchbond 2+Silux filling in Slot preparation Each specimens was immersed in 1% solution of KCl, and applied a potential of 9V external power supply. Measurements of the current flow were obtained at 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 12, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28 day after immerson. Marginal microleakage were compared and evaluated. The results were as follows ; 1. The group filled with composite resin with dentin bonding agent shows lower apical microleakage value than the group filled with amalgam following varnish application (P<0.01). 2. In the group filled with gutta percha, apical microleakage value was the hightest 3. There was no significant difference between Class I cavity and Slot type cavity regardless of the used materials.
Many therapeutic class drugs such as beta-blocker, corticosteroids, NSAIDs, etc are prohibited substances in the horse racing industry. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) technology makes it possible to isolate drugs from interference, enables various drug analyses in complex biological samples due to its sensitive sensitivity, and has been successfully applied to doping control. In this paper, we describe a rapid and sensitive method based on solid-phase extraction (SPE) using solid phase cartridge and LC-MS/MS to screen for different class's 35 drug targets in equine plasma. Plasma samples were pretreated by SPE with the NEXUS cartridge consisted non-polar carbon resin and minimum buffer solvent. Chromatographic separation of the analytes was performed on ACQUITY HSS C18 column (2.1 × 150 mm, 1.8 ㎛). The elution gradient was conducted with 5 mM ammonium formate (pH 3.0) in distilled water and 0.1% formic acid in acetonitrile at a flow rate of 0.25 mL/min. The selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode was used for drug screening with multiple transitions in the positive ionization mode. The specificity, limit of detection, recovery, and stability was evaluated for validation. The method was found to be sensitive and reproducible for drug screening. The method was applied to plasma sample analysis for the proficiency test from the Association of Racing Chemist.

By introducing curing kinetics and chemo-rheology for the epoxy resin formulation for ultra-high voltage gas insulated switchgear (GIS) Insulating Spacers, a study was conducted to simulate the curing behavior, flow and warpage analysis for optimization of the molding process in automatic pressure gelation. The curing rate equation and chemo-rheology equation were set as fixed values for various factors and other physical property values, and the APG molding process conditions were entered into the Moldflow software to perform optimization numerical simulations of the three-phase insulating spacer. Changes in curing shrinkage according to pack pressure were observed under the optimized process conditions. As a result, it was confirmed that the residence time in the solid state was shortened due to the lowest curing reaction when the curing holding pressure was 3 bar, and the occurrence of deformation due to internal residual stress was minimized.

In this work, a structural design on 500W class horizontal axis wind turbine blade using natural-fibre composite is performed. The structural design result of flax composite blade is compared with the result of glass composite blade. The structural design of the wind turbine blade is carried out using the simplified methods such as the netting rule and the rule of mixture. The structural safety of the designed blade structure is investigated through the various load cases, stress, deformation and buckling analyses using the commercial FEM. The structural test of the manufactured prototype blade was performed to confirm the structural analysis results including strains, natural frequencies and deformations. According to the comparison results, it was confirmed that the analysis results are well agreed with the experimental results.
This study investigated flexural properties of indirect Gum-shade composite resins for esthetic improvement. The material utilized in this study was Crea.lign, Twiny flow and Twiny paste (TP). Ten specimens were fabricated with a dimension of $25{\times}2{\times}2mm$ according to the ISO 4049. After fabrications, specimens were stored in the distilled water for 24 hours at the temperature of $37^{\circ}C$. Three-point bending test was performed in universal testing machine (Instron 3344; Instron, USA) at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min until the failure occurred. TP exhibited a higher flexural strength (FS) and flexural modulus (FM) compared to the flowable materials. There were significant differences among the three materials in FS and FM. However, there was no significant difference in work of fracture (WOF) in all tested materials (p>0.05). In Weibull analysis, TP showed the greatest Weibull modulus which means a higher reliability of the materials. Also, Gum-shade composite resins revealed a strong correlation in all flexural properties. There was a positive correlation in FS-FM ($r^2=0.99$) and a negative correlation between FS-WOF and FM-WOF ($r^2>0.97$). Therefore, this confirmed that flexural property was important for mechanical behavior evaluation and useful information. To addition, this improved among mechanical properties correlation of materials as important factor.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to observe the reaction kinetics and the degree of polymerization of composite resins when cured by different light sources and to evaluate the effectiveness of the blue Light Emitting Diode Light Curing Units (LED LCUs) compared with conventional halogen LCUs. Materials and Methods: First, thermal analysis was performed by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The LED LCU (Elipar Freelight, $320{\;}mW/\textrm{cm}^2$) and the conventional halogen LCU (XL3000, $400{\;}mV/\textrm{cm}^2$) were used in this study for curing three composite resins (SureFil, Z-250 and AEliteFLO). Second. the degree of conversion was obtained in the composite resins cured according to the above curing mode with a FTIR. Third, the measurements of depth of cure were carried out in accordance with ISO 4049 standards. Statistical analysis was performed by two-way ANOVA test at 95% levels of confidence and Duncan's procedure for multiple comparisons. Results: The heat of cure was not statistically different among the LCUs (p > 0.05). The composites cured by the LED (Exp) LCUs were statistically more slowly polymerized than by the halogen LCU and the LED (Std) LCU (p < 0.05). The composite resin groups cured by the LED (Exp) LCUs had significantly greater degree of conversion value than by the halogen LCU and the LED (Std) LCU (p =0.0002). The composite resin groups cured by the LED (Std) LCUs showed significantly greater depth of cure value than by the halogen LCU and the LED (Exp) LCU (p < 0.05).
