To develop floor impact sound resilient materials of apartment house effectively, floor impact sound insulation performance test lab. was designed and constructed in T company. Introducing specification and basic performance of this lab. could be helpful in plan and design of another lab. Floor space size of this lab. is $4.2m{\times}5.5m$ and this size is similar with that of living room of usual apartment house's (about $100m^2$) and the height of lab. is 2.4m. Slab thickness is designed by 180mm. Frequency characteristics is similar to general apartment house. Reverberation time of sound receiving room displays 1.26sec in 125Hz by establishing sound-absorbing materials. For light weight impact sound insulation performance of concrete bare floor structure is estimated by $L_{i,AW}\;=\;73$ and for heavy weight is estimated by $L_{i,Fmax,AW}\;=\;50$. Sound pressure level distribution of sound receiving room is ranged very uniformly. With these results, floor impact sound resilient materials could be evaluated and the results could be trusted by comparison tests.

The launcher pod for missiles capable of carrying a range of different warheads has been designed to be mounted on the tracked vehicle of the hybrid weapon system (HWS). In the development of this launcher pod, its structure was designed to be resilient to damage caused by shock and vibration, as well as preventing assembly errors due to the spring-back of the main composite cover and interfacing parts. This study investigated the design of the newly developed launcher pod, with its hybrid composite-metal structure, through simulation and experiment. Both simulation and actual experiments showed that the structure of the launcher is resilient to vibration and shock. The launcher pod was also subjected to vibration and shock tests to verify its performance.
In transport networks, a multi-ring architecture is very useful to facilitate network planning and to design and provide more resilient services for customers. Unlike traditional synchronous optical network multi-rings, the service resiliency of Ethernet-based multi-rings is significantly impacted by the ring hierarchy because a link or node failure in a certain level ring triggers filtering database flush actions in all higher level rings as well as in the ring with the failure, and consequently a large amount of duplicated data frames may be flooded. In this paper, we investigate how the ring hierarchy impacts the service resiliency of multi-ring networks. Based on extensive experiments on various single- and multiple-link failures, we suggest two effective inter-ring connection rules to minimize the transient traffic and to ensure more resilient multi-ring networks. In addition, we consider a flush optimization technique called e-ADV, and show that the combination of e-ADV and multi-ring structures satisfying our inter-ring connection rules results in a more attractive survivability performance.
Purpose: This paper investigates how companies respond to government regulations and disasters in a risk-managed society, and aims to initiate discussions on the future prospects and challenges. Specifically, it explores how companies can plan to respond to such disasters in the future, and stresses that the law should be to protect people's lives and ensure safety, rather than to punish companies. Research design, data and methodology: The study methodology is based on a review of existing literature, as well as trend analysis through big data analysis. The research analyzes the discourse in our society regarding the enactment of the Serious Accident Punishment Act. Results: This study supports that the Serious Accident Punishment Act should be implemented in a manner that does not impede corporate activities, but rather helps to ensure the safety of citizens' daily lives. The authors call for collaboration between communities, labor unions, and companies in achieving a cooperative governance system for a safer society. Conclusions: It highlights the importance of addressing disasters and government regulations in the context of a risk-managed society, and offers insights for both companies and policymakers on how to navigate these challenges. By prioritizing safety and cooperation, we can work towards building a safer and more resilient society
In this paper, a new energy-efficient semi-active hybrid bulk damper is developed that is cost-effective for use in structural applications. In this work, the possibility of active and semi-active component configurations combined with suitable control algorithms, especially vibration control methods, is explored. The equations of motion for a container bridge equipped with an MDOF Mass Tuned Damper (M-TMD) system are established, and the combination of excitation, adhesion, and control effects are performed by a proprietary package and commercial custom submodel software. Systematic methods for the synthesis of structural components and active systems have been used in many applications because of the main interest in designing efficient devices and high-performance structural systems. A rational strategy can be established by properly controlling the master injection frequency parameter. Simulation results show that the multiscale model approach is achieved and meets accuracy with high computational efficiency. The M-TMD system can significantly improve the overall response of constrained structures by modestly reducing the critical stress amplitude of the frame. This design can be believed to build affordable, safe, environmentally friendly, resilient, sustainable infrastructure and transportation.

In this article, the performances of acoustic enclosure with double resilient mount system which was designed by ADD to reduce the radiated noise by main noise source of ships, was tested and evaluated. From test results, it was verified that the acoustic performances of acoustic enclosure satisfied the requirements; vibration isolation level at 1st stage mount system of 15 ㏈ and airborne noise reduction level of 20 ㏈ in broad band.

As abnormal climate phenomena occur more frequently due to climate change, damage which results from meteorological disaster increases accordingly and its scale and variety are becoming wider. This paper draws out planning and design elements and application techniques to build cities more adaptive to climate change from urban development cases in US and Europe. An urban model is suggested, that enables built environment to be more resilient to risks caused by climate change is applicable to urban development projects in practice.
With the current move towards adopting mechanistic-empirical concepts in the design of pavement structures, state-of-the-art mechanistic analysis methodologies are needed to determine accurate pavement responses, such as stress, strain, and deformation. Previous laboratory studies of pavement foundation geomaterials, i.e., unbound granular materials used in base/subbase layers and fine-grained soils of a prepared subgrade, have shown that the resilient responses followed by nonlinear, stress-dependent behavior under repeated wheel loading. This nonlinear behavior is commonly characterized by stress-dependent resilient modulus material models that need to be incorporated into finite element (FE) based mechanistic pavement analysis methods to predict more realistically predict pavement responses for a mechanistic pavement analysis. Developed user material subroutine using aforementioned resilient model with nonlinear solution technique and convergence scheme with proven performance were successfully employed in general-purpose FE program, ABAQUS. This numerical analysis was investigated in predicted critical responses and domain selection with specific mesh generation was implemented to evaluate better prediction of pavement responses. Results obtained from both axisymmetric and three-dimensional (3D) nonlinear FE analyses were compared and remarkable findings were described for nonlinear FE analysis. The UMAT subroutine performance was also validated with the instrumented full scale pavement test section study results from the Federal Aviation Administration's National Airport Pavement Test Facility (FAA's NAPTF).

The engine excitation forces are considered as major vibration source for the forklift truck, especially in small class. Even though the current engine mounting system designs are acceptable for vibration isolation, the performance of the engine mounting system is still required for the tendency of light weight, higher power and driver's higher vibration requirement. In this paper vibration reduction technique of forklift engine which is supported on rubber mounts is presented. Based on the dynamic model of resilient engine mounting system, design evaluation program is established. The design optimization technique and evaluation method of system properties are discussed. Effects of optimal design are validated through comparison with test results.
