프레스 퀜칭 공정에 의한 자동차 Flexible Plate의 형상 제어 연구 (Shape Control of Automotive Flexible Plate in Press Quenching)

  • The production of automotive chassis parts requiring both high hardness and good shape-holdability is better realized by using press quenching technology, comprising the austenitizaton and the subsequent press quenching in a specially designed stamping tool. The effect of press quenching mold shape on the hardness distribution, bending height, and degree of planeness of automotive flexible plate during press quenching and tempering has been investigated. The preferable shape of the projections of punch and die in contact with the flexible plate was close to oval to improve the flow of cooling oil, leading to the higher hardness. The press quenching mold with three separate parts was more effective to control the dimensional change due to thermal deformation during press quenching. Some decrease in the bending height during tempering may be related to some recovery of the residual stress at $400^{\circ}C$.

  • In this paper, a unified methodology based on the local stress concept to estimate residual strength of locally thinned pipes. An underlying idea of the proposed methodology is that the local stress in the minimum section for locally thinned pipe is related to the reference stress, popularly used in creep problems. Then the problem remains how to define the reference stress, that is the reference load. Extensive three-dimensional finite element (FE) analyses were performed to simulate full-scale pipe tests conducted for various shapes of wall thinned area under internal pressure and bending moment. Based on these FE results, the reference load is proposed, which is independent of materials. A natural outcome of this method is the maximum load capacity. By comparing with existing test results, it is shown that the reference stress is related to the fracture stress, which in turn can be posed as the fracture criterion of locally thinned pipes. The proposed method is powerful as it can be easily generalised to more complex problems, such as pipe bends and tee-joints.

  • Ti-6Al-4V 재에 다양한 표면처리방법을 통하여 나노스킨화된 피로시험편을 제작하고 회전굽힘피로 시험과 축하중 인장압축피로시험을 수행하였다. 특히 S-N 곡선에서 초음파나노표면개질(UNSM)법은 국내특허기술로 다른 처리법들보다 우수한 결과를 보였고, UNSM 처리된 직경 5 mm 재는 6 mm 티타늄재를 대치 가능할 성능을 얻었다. UNSM 처리된 $10^6$ 사이클 이상의 장수명영역에서 피로강도가 크게 향상되는 시험결과를 얻었다. 균열발생 패턴의 분석을 통하여 Ti-6Al-4V 재는 응력의 작용형태에 따라 표면균열발생형(surface originating crack type)과 내부균열발생형(interior originating crack type)인 어안균열(fish eye crack)이 발생하는 메커니즘을 분석하였다.

  • 연구는 electro-active polymer(EAP)의 특성을 가지는 ion-exchange polymer metal composite(IPMC)을 이용하여 지능형 대장내시경 개발에 목적을 두고 있다. IPMC는 낮은 구동전압과 빠른 반응속도로 인하여 매우 매력적인 물질이다. 본 연구에서는 IPMC구동기의 전극을 무전의 도금 방법을 이용하여 용액함침-환원방법(impregnation-reduction method)으로 제조하였으며 코팅된 백금전극의 횟수에 따라 변위와 변화를 측정하였다. 구동특성을 알아보기 위하여 길이, 주파수에 대한 변위, 힘을 측정하였으며, 주파수 대역은 저주파 대역과 공명주파수 대역을 사용하는 것이 적합하다는 결론을 얻었다. 또한 다양한 구동적 특성과 수분의 함량에 따른 영향에 대해 고전적 적층 이론 (classical laminate theory, CLT)을 이용하여 이방성 IPMC의 응력분포와 수분이동에 따른 모멘트, 변형률, 곡률(cuvature)을 모델링 하였다.

$Al_2O_3$ 세라믹스의 강도에 미치는 소결 첨가제 SiC의 함량과 열처리의 영향 (Influence of SiC Content and Heat Treatments on Strength of Al2O3 Ceramics)

  • In the present study, crack healing effect and residual stress of $Al_2O_3$ ceramics were investigated by changing the sintering temperature and heat treatment conditions. And also it was investigated that the influence of different filler loadings of nano-sized SiC particles on the crack healing behavior of $Al_2O_3$ ceramics. The test samples were characterized by three point bend flexural tests to evaluate their mechanical properties. The morphological changes were studied by FE-SEM and EDS. The test results indicated that the $Al_2O_3$ with nano-sized SiC ceramics sintered at $1800^{\circ}C$ were showed highest density. Sintering temperature at $1800^{\circ}C$, the bending strength of heat treatment in air atmosphere specimens showed about 42 % increment in comparison to the un-heat treated specimens. The cracked specimens can be healed by heat treatment in vacuum atmosphere but the crack healing effect of $Al_2O_3$ ceramics, which is heat treated in air atmosphere was higher than that of heat treated in vacuum atmosphere. $Al_2O_3$ with 30 wt% of SiC ceramics indicated higher crack healing ability than that with 15 wt% of SiC ceramics. The FE-SEM images showed that the median cracks and pores were disappeared after heat treatment in air.

  • The block assembly of ship consists of a series of heat processes such as cutting, bending, welding, residual stress relaxation and fairing. With the fast development of computers, the thermal elasto-plastic analysis method has become a versatile tool for practical applications in the ship production. If numerical analysis is proved to be an advantageous tool to predict the residual deformation due to various heat processes, the optimum methods which can remove the welding distortion can be presented at each assembly stage, which will result in great progress in improving the accuracy of block assembly. In order to minimize the weld-induced angular distortion in thick weldments, this paper proposes the optimum groove design for various plate thickness as the distortion control method. The validity of this method has been substantiated by a number of numerical simulations and experiments.

  • Mechanical properties of Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposited (PECVD) silicon nitride thin film was studied to determine the feasibility of the film as a passivation layer over the aluminum bonding areas of integrated circuit chips. Ultimate strain of the films in thicknesses of about 5 k${\AA}$ was measured using four-point bending method. The ultimate strain of these films was constant at about 0.2% regardless of residual stress. Intrinsic and residual stresses of these films were measured and compared with thermal shock and cycling test results. Comparison of the results showed that more tensile films were more susceptible to crack- induced failure.

전면 도어 와이어하니스 시스템의 내구 수명 예측에 관한 연구 (Durability Prediction of Door W/H System Using FEM Analysis)

  • In vehicle's door wiring harness (W/H) system is more toward to arrange a passenger compartment than a hinge and a weatherstrip. An opening/closing member of a vehicle is attached to a vehicle by a hinge in a manner enabling easy opening and closing of the opening/closing member. Such members include doors, such as side-doors and rear doors, and other opening/closing members, such as trunk lids. This article gives some insight into the dimensioning process, with special focus on large deflection analysis of wiring harness(W/H) in vehicle's door structures for durability problem. The Finite elements analysis for door wiring harness(W/H) is used for residual stresses and dimensional stability with bending flexible. Durability test data for slam test specimens were compared with the numerical predicted fatigue life for verification. The final testing of the component combines the effects of these microstructural features with the complex stress state arising from the combined service loading and residual stresses.

  • Methods for estimating structural reliability using probability ideas are well established. When the residual ultimate strength of a buried pipeline is exceeded the limit, breakage becomes imminent and the overall reliability of the pipe distribution network is reduced. This paper is concerned with estimating structural failure of underground flexible pipes due to corrosion induced excessive deflection, buckling, wall thrust and bending stress subject to externally applied loading. With changes of pipe wall thickness due to corrosion, the moment of inertia and the cross-sectional area of pipe wall are directly changed with time. Consequently, the chance of survival or the reliability of the pipe material is decreased over time. One numerical example has been presented for a buried steel pipe to predict the probability of failure using Hasofer-Lind and Rackwitz-Fiessler algorithm and Monte Carlo simulation. Then the parametric study and sensitivity analysis have been conducted on the reliability of pipeline with different influencing factors, e.g. pipe thickness, diameter, backfill height etc.
