Water is an indispensable input to human's existence and industrial production. A water supply project would demand considerable costs, but produce economic benefits, which are importantly utilized in the project evaluation. In this situation, this study attempts to value the economic benefits from the residential water supply in Seoul. In particular, yearly consumer surplus and economic value of water supply for eleven water authority agencies in Seoul are measured during the period 2001-2004. Information on price elasticity required in calculating consumer surplus is obtained from direct estimation of the residential water demand function, and the consumer surplus is assessed by using a recently developed formula. Price elasticities used here are -0.810 and -1.011, and the estimated consumer surplus and economic value amount to 131.9 to 164.6 billion won and 398.6 to 431.3 billion won, respectively.
The use of land cover was sharply changed during 1975~2007 in the Kyungan watershed $(561.12 km^2)$. The changes occurred over an area of more than $227.65 km^2$ during the overall period at changing rates of 1.04% per year for water area, 1.79% per year for residential area, 2.99% per year for bare area, 3.03% per year for wetland area, 3.04% per year for grass area, 0.87% per year for forest and 2.32% per year for agriculture area. Water, residential, bare and wetland areas increased, while grass, forest and agriculture areas decreased during the last 32 years. BOD concentrations of representative sites for each sub-watershed continuously increased until the early 2000s as residential area increased with the highest discharged load, but decreased after the mid 2000s except upper Kyungan watershed. Such decline appears to be associated with the planning of Total Maximum Daily Load management for Gwangju city and expansion of waste water treatment plant. It is necessary to control land use/cover changes of the upper watershed and to prepare appropriate watershed management system for improvement in river environment including water quality, stream flow and bio-diversity.
This study estimates the price elasticity of residential water demand in Korea. For that, annual panel data from the year of 2010 to 2013 for 161 local water services is estimated by using panel quantile model. As a result, the price elasticities of residental water demand in Korea are estimated to be between -0.156 and -0.189 depending on its quantile. In addition, the study finds that the estimated elasticity of residential water demand by traditional conditional mean regression is relatively more influenced by high demand areas because the distribution of residental water demand in Korea is left-skewed.

In URD(Underground Residential Distribution) power cable, experiments of WVT(Water Vapor Transmission) test on the Base Resin accomplished to specimens which contained CB(Carbon Black), anti-oxidant to base resin and made by pressing to resin of pellet or lump form. a kind of specimens was HDPE(High Density Polyethylene), MDPE(Medium Density Polyethylene), LDPE(Low Density Polyethylene), LLDPE(Linear Low Density Polyethylene), PVC(Polyvinyl Chloride). as a results of WVT test, we saw that WVT ratio was HDPE < LLDPE < MDPE≒LDPE${\ll}$ PVC. WVT properties of PVC using for jacket showed properties 15-20 times more than MDPE or LLDPE. Therefore, to development of watertightness cable, our works present need of Changing in insulating materials.
In this study, the performance of automatic thermostatic valves according to each heating method of a large scale residential building were researched by simulation. The flow characteristics of the entire pipe networks of the hot water radiant heating system is analized by using linear analysis method. For the analysis of unsteady heat transfer phenomena in each household, the method of using electric equivalent R-C circuit is applied.
Recently, Environmental friendliness and sustainability become the main concern of residential area planning. This paper deals with the estimation indicator system for environmentally friendliness of residential areas. An interview survey was carried out for resident groups by the type of housing. 'Environmentally friendly residential site' is defined as 'A site of sustainable development with low undesirable impact on environment, friendliness to natural environments such as green areas and waters, and amenity, health & hygiene of residents' Totally, nineteen individual indicators, six categories and three principles(Low Impact, High Contact, Amenity & Health) were proposed as estimation indicator system. Residents showed high importance on principle of 'amenity & health'. Individual indicators such as 'garbage segregated collection', 'secure green areas' and 'cleanness of water and air' showed high weighting value by each principles. Satisfaction level of residents for individual indicators, such as 'garbage segregated collection', 'common gardens', and 'cleanness of residential areas', were comparatively high. By the result of factor analysis, the proposed model for indicator system was valid.

The water availability in a river is related to the return flow of residential water. However it is still difficult to determine the exact return flow. In this study, the residential water-cycle system is defined as a process consisting of water inflow, water transfer and water outflow. The study area is Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, and is set as a single inflow to a single outflow through the water-cycle system after classification of complete and incomplete measurement points. The time-series prediction models(ARIMA model and TFM) are established with daily inflow and outflow data for 6 years. Inflow and outflow are predicted by dividing into training and test periods. As a result, both models show the feasibility of short-term prediction by deriving stable residuals and securing statistical significance, implementing the preliminary form of the water-cycle system. As a further study, it is suggested to predict the actual return flow of the target basin and efficient water operation by adding input factors and selecting the optimal model.
To identify the characteristics of wastewater flow generated in treatment basins of Seogwipo-city, we selected 3 stations representing the basin and performed 7 times of field survey including 5 times in dry periods and 2 times in wet periods from Feb. 25 to May 27, 2002 for the selected stations. From the analysis of flow data measured for more than 60 days in the interval of 5 minutes and concentration data obtained from laboratory analysis, we can draw several conclusions. First, in the analysis of diurnal variation of wastewater flow for land-use types, we could find the following results: in the residential area, it is observed that wastewater flow rates rise early in the morning for the office-going hour and fall gradually and rise again after the office-leaving hour, showing typical residential wastewater flow pattern, while for the residential and commercial area flow rates rise early in the morning at the office-going hour and move up and down repeatedly within wide range and last till the office-leaving hour, which can be resulted from wastewater that is generated by tourists activated after early in the afternoon, while for the touristy area flow rates rise early in the morning and fall gradually and rise again within wide range. Second, in the analysis of temporal variation of wastewater flow for monthly, it can be observed that in the residential area, in the residential and commercial areas the flow rate of May is higher than that of Feb., March, while for the touristy area flow rate is without monthly because it reflects the movement of population, Third, in wet periods concentration of water-quality item such as SS, BOD, and COD_{cr}$ is high in the beginning of rainfall by first flush, and falls down gradually to reach the steady state, which is the level of wastewater in dry periods after the cease of storm water due to diluting effect resulting from additional runoff water through storm sewers.
Purpose: Management of water is a crucial issue globally and is becoming more critical due to climate change. The purpose of this study is to explore water resource management by considering price and water usage based on river basins and to suggest more efficient residential water demand management in South Korea. Research Design, data, and methodology: This study applied data of water usage and water price of 15 regions in four major river basins by considering up and downstream locations from 1997 to 2017 collected by Ministry of Environment in Korea. This study applied regression analyses, ANOVA, and 2-Way ANOVA to verify its claims. Results: The results found that effects of price on water usage showed significant in many cities. The results also showed that means of water usages differ based on location (upstream and downstream) and river basins. Conclusion: The findings provide important policy and management implications for the improvement of water resource management in terms of demand. The results also indicate that water price should be reconsidered by comparing water price levels with those of OECD countries. Furthermore, the results imply that water management in Korea needs to improve in terms of supply to cope with climate change.
The residential street is an area in which the residential function clearly predominates over any provisions for traffic. Therefore schoud it serve as a living space for the inhabitants. But in reccent times have motorists become lord and master through development and use according to the measure of automobile. As a result is being falling-off in the quality of residential environment particularly serious. This study have illustrated specially the environmental pollution (air pollution, micro climate. water balance and soil pollution) which the analysis of research data in foreign countrys. With that have this study proposed on the measures of the environmental friendly construction in residental street.
