주상복합지역 간판디자인의 시지각적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Visual Perception Characteristics the Sign Design in Mixed-Used Residential and Commercial Site)

  • Along with the development of creative building design ideas, how to effectively sign design concepts is also an important consideration on environmental design. The research goals established in order to solve these problems are to develop structures of sign design and analyze the cases of it. This paper explains structures of sign design in two ways: the compositional elements of signs and the relationships of visual perception. Among various relationships among sign design compositional elements this study uses relationships based on the Gestalt theory, the balance theory by Rudolf Arnheim, and the optical away theory by Gibson. The design principles investigated on the basis of the visual perception theories include the relationships between compositional elements and background space, visual weight balance, horizontal and vertical balances, grouping, and visual layout patterns

  • A few years ago, the rapid degradation of domestic air quality has led to the efforts of exhaust gas policy and fine dust mask, but it is not a fundamental measure. In Korea, photocatalyst will be applied to residential and multi-use facilites to purify indoor and outdoor air. Also, in this study, it is tried to produce exposed concrete that is aesthetically pleasing as well as air purification of indoor by combining with light transparent concrete according to the increasing interest in human indoor living environment. For this purpose, we have developed a block formwork for photocatalysis light transparent concrete and established a suitable manufacturing method for on-site construction.

  • It seems that outdoor-space has been properly neither planned nor used in the Mixed-Use Dwellings. The purpose of this research is to analyze the present condition and problems of outdoor-space utilization in the Mixed-Use Dwellings to find the application and the correlativity between outdoor-space types and forming factors. The results are as follows; 1) Entire samples of outdoor-space are classified into 6 groups by the road and site jointing type and the building layout type. 2) There are 5 prime factors forming and utilizing outdoor-space, which are the hierarchy of the road, the way of parking area utilization, the types of business in the commercial part, combining type of two uses which are residential and commercial, and the type of access to each part of them. 3) Amongst the factors, the way of parking area utilization, combining type, and the type of access are greatly related to the type of outdoor-space in the Mixed-Use Dwellings.

  • Land was reclaimed at the waterfront in the Pluit area of Jakarta for a 90ha residential-cum-recreational development. The reclamation works involve construction of permanent and temporary dykes, fill placement, soil improvement, dredging of internal canals and marina, and construction of canal revetment. The site lies on 16m to 18m thick soft seabed deposits. Settlement of the reclaimed areas will result as a consequence of consolidation of the soft underlying sediments. In order to reduce post-construction settlement to within acceptable levels, a system of vertical drains and preloading was adopted. This paper describes the use of Fibredrain, a prefabricated vertical drain made of jute and coir fibres developed at the National University of Singapore, in the soil improvement works and a secondary use in the construction of perimeter dykes for the reclamation works. The construction of the perimeter dyke must be carried out in such a way that slope stability is on ensured. Bamboo rafts and bamboo clusters with Fibredrain inserted, and stage construction were employed to improve stability during the dyke formation for the Pantai Mutiara project.

Pushing the Boundaries of Mass Timber Construction and Building Codes

  • The 2020 National Building Code of Canada (NBC) and the 2021 International Building Code (IBC) both include Tall Wood Buildings (TWB) and are hailed as documents responsible for the proliferation of Mass Timber construction. Mass Timber construction is critical to reducing the carbon footprint of the construction industry; a sector acknowledged as being one of the greatest contributors of global annual CO2 emissions. Origine, a 13-storey multi-residential building erected in 2017 in a previously unsuitable site, is currently the tallest all-wood building in North America. This article describes the challenges overcome by the designers and client as they engaged with code officials, building authorities, and fire-service representatives to demonstrate the life-safety performance of this innovative building. It also traces the development of the "Guide for Mass Timber Buildings of up to 12 Storeys" published in Quebec and how it has enabled other significant Tall Wood projects across North America.

  • Pavement cutting work frequently occurs in new building construction, reconstruction, and complex construction, and this work causes a lot of noise and dust. Eco-friendly pavement cutters are being developed to reduce noise and dust in this work, however the on-site cutting performance of the equipment under development has not been quantified. In this study, the eco-friendly pavement cutter was applied to four residential areas in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, and its cutting performance was quantified. As a result of the analysis, the eco-friendly pavement cutter showed cutting performance of 20.1~46.9sec/m, and the average was 33.5sec/m. In the future, we plan to conduct additional cutting experiments with various mixing ratios, materials, and depths to confirm the performance of eco-friendly road cutters in more detail.

농업경관에서의 생물다양성 보전을 위한 딱정벌레 군집 특성 연구 (The Study on the Characteristics of Ground Beetle (Coleoptera: Carabidae) Community for Conservation of Biodiversity in Agricultural Landscape)

  • 본 연구는 농업 생태계의 생물다양성 보전에 있어 서식처 기반의 보전 전략을 수립하는데 있어 기본 정보를 제공하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구는 경기도 화성시 팔탄면에 위치한 환경압박이 서로 다른 3개 조사지(농경지와 야산으로 이루어진 조사지 1, 공장이 많이 위치하는 조사지 2, 거주지역이 많이 차지하는 조사지 3에서 4개의 토지이용(야산, 밭둑, 논둑, 하천변)별로 2000년 11월부터 2002년 11월까지 39회의 딱정벌레 군집 조사를 통해 이루어졌다. 본 연구의 주요 결과로 서 딱정벌레 군집 조성, 우점종 그리고 군집 패턴이 토지이용에 따라 다르게 나타났으며, 유사도는 조사지 2와 3의 논둑에서 가장 높게 나타났고, 조사지 2의 야산과 조사지 3의 하천변간의 유사도가 가장 낮았다. 또한 도로에 의해 파편화된 서식처간의 유사도가 서로 다른 서식처 및 조사지간의 유사도보다 낮게 나타났다. 이를 통해 생물다양성 보전과 네트워크 측면에서 농경지 토지이용은 각각이 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 본 연구는 국내 농촌경관에서의 서식처별 딱정벌레 군집분석을 통하여 생물다양성 보전에 대한 기초 자료를 제공한다는 점에서 가치를 평가할 수 있다.

토양 및 지하수 Investigation 과 Remediation에 대한 현장적용

  • Situated close to Heathrow Airport, and adjacent to the M4 and M25 Motorways, the site at Axis Park is considered a prime location for business in the UK. In consequnce two of the UK's major property development companies, MEPC and Redrew Homes sought the expertise of Intergeo to remediate the contaminated former industrial site prior to its development. Industrial use of the twenty-six hectare site, started in 1936, when Hawker Aircraft commence aircraft manufacture. In 1963 the Firestone Tyre and Rubber Company purchased part of the site. Ford commenced vehicle production at the site in the mid-1970's and production was continued by Iveco Ford from 1986 to the plant's decommissioning in 1997. Geologically the site is underlain by sand and gravel, deposited in prehistory by the River Thames, with London Clay at around 6m depth. The level of groundwater fluctuates seasonally at around 2.5m depth, moving slowly southwest towards local streams and watercourses. A phased investigation of the site was undertaken, which culminated in the extensive site investigation undertaken by Intergeo in 1998. In total 50 boreholes, 90 probeholes and 60 trial pits were used to investigate the site and around 4000 solid and 1300 liquid samples were tested in the laboratory for chemical substances. The investigations identified total petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil up to 25, 000mg/kg. Diesel oil, with some lubricating oil were the main components. Volatile organic compounds were identified in the groundwater in excess of 10mg/l. Specific substances included trichloromethane, trichloromethane and tetrachloroethene. Both the oil and volatile compounds were widely spread across the site, The specific substances identified could be traced back to industrial processes used at one or other dates in the sites history Slightly elevated levels of toxic metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were also identified locally. Prior to remediation of the site and throughout its progress, extensive liaison with the regulatory authorities and the client's professional representatives was required. In addition to meetings, numerous technical documents detailing methods and health and safety issues were required in order to comply with UK environmental and safety legislation. After initially considering a range of options to undertake remediation, the following three main techniques were selected: ex-situ bioremediation of hydrocarbon contaminated soils, skimming of free floating hydrocarbon product from the water surface at wells and excavations and air stripping of volatile organic compounds from groundwater recovered from wells. The achievements were as follows: 1) 350, 000m3 of soil was excavated and 112, 000m3 of sand and gravel was processed to remove gravel and cobble sized particles; 2) 53, 000m3 of hydrocarbon contaminated soil was bioremediated in windrows ; 3) 7000m3 of groundwater was processed by skimming to remove free floating Product; 4) 196, 000m3 of groundwater was Processed by air stripping to remove volatile organic compounds. Only 1000m3 of soil left the site for disposal in licensed waste facilities Given the costs of disposal in the UK, the selected methods represented a considerable cost saving to the Clients. All other soil was engineered back into the ground to a precise geotechnical specification. The following objective levels were achieved across the site 1) By a Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA) methodology it was demonstrated that soil with less that 1000mg/kg total petroleum hydrocarbons did not pose a hazard to health or water resources and therefore, could remain insitu; 2) Soils destined for the residential areas of the site were remediated to 250mg/kg total petroleum hydrocarbons; in the industrial areas 500mg/kg was proven acceptable. 3) Hydrocarbons in groundwater were remediated to below the Dutch Intervegtion Level of 0.6mg/1; 4) Volatile organic compounds/BTEX group substances were reduced to below the Dutch Intervention Levels; 5) Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and metals were below Inter-departmental Committee for the Redevelopment of Contaminated Land guideline levels for intended enduse. In order to verify the qualify of the work 1500 chemical test results were submitted for the purpose of validation. Quality assurance checks were undertaken by independent consultants and at an independent laboratory selected by Intergeo. Long term monitoring of water quality was undertaken for a period of one year after remediation work had been completed. Both the regulatory authorities and Clients representatives endorsed the quality of remediation now completed at the site. Subsequent to completion of the remediation work Redrew Homes constructed a prestige housing development. The properties at "Belvedere Place" retailed at premium prices. On the MEPC site the Post Office, amongst others, has located a major sorting office for the London area. 장수명 주택의 활성화를 위한 가동칸막이벽체 개발현황 연구 (A Study on the Development and Application of Movable Partition Components for Facilitating of Long-life Housing)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the feasibility of movable partition wall components that are able to correspond changes of structure system and spatial configuration by the needs of residents for the activation of long-life housing. The key element of various movable partition wall components, a movable partition wall, was analyzed for problems through both as-is analysis and field installation in Korea and Japan, and then its feasibility was verified. The movable partition wall can break the uniformity of a fixed one, can integrate and separate limited space by changes in the demands of residents, can be easy to separate, and can be independent. The development of the movable partition wall is important for the realization of diverse residential space, ease of remodeling, environment adaptation, promotion of modularization, etc. It is comprised of surfacing materials, core materials, structural materials, and movable parts. The domestic movable partition wall was verified regarding the feasibility of an apartment house through on-site inspections and sound insulation tests by KOHP21, KICT. In conclusion, the construction of long-life housing that has sustainable values in the use of housing is nationally an important assignment, so as to secure good housing stock.

  • With the development of the internet and the spread of 'digital home', the communities in cyber space have been especially revitalized since the information-oriented society. Apartment houses provided networks that are well equipped with internet websites, which build up the houses as a virtual space unit. This study attempted to conducted the questionnaire research for apartment occupants in order to investigate their recognition of and participation in the virtual community and demand for the classified contents The results are as follows. 1) First of all, some easy-access programs are necessary to be groped while aggressive promotional strategies for virtual community that create interests of residents are required to make progress to increase the participation for virtual community 2) 'Gender', 'the form of ownership' and 'level of using the Internet' show significant differences in the case of 'needs in the like-minded people's association', the participation of residents that is induced by both online and offline can cause positive effects on community activity 3) Needs in community enrichment are generally high so that various contents development related to those are necessary. 4) Effects of virtual community on the residential community are on the whole affirmative.
