Distribution Load Forecasting based with Land-use Estimation (토지용도 추정을 기반으로 한 배전계통 부하예측)

  • Power distribution system planning for maximum customer satisfaction and system efficiency requires accurate forecast of future demand in service area. Spatial load forecasting method provides a more accurate estimation of both magnitudes and location of future electrical load. This method considers the causes of load growth due to addition of customers and per capita consumption among customers by land use (residential, commercial and industrial). So the land-use study and it's preference for small area is quite important. This paper proposes land-use preference estimation method based on fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is applied to computing preference scores for each land-use and by these scores the customer growth is allocated in service area. An simulation example is used to illustrate the proposed method.

A Study on the Quantitative Analysis of View by the Projection Method in the Residential Buildings (주거용 건물에서의 투영법에 의한 조망의 정량적 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The quantitative analysis of view tells how surroundings and sky are showed, and requires understanding of visual perception and three dimensional information of buildings. The visual perception and the existing projection methods for view analysis are examined. The results of this study are as follows: The visual perception on the size is determined by the visual angle, which can be described as a solid angle. The analysis of view by planar projection can be narrow-sighted according to the size of the window and the location of the viewpoint, which will cause the obstacles in the normal direction of the window interfere the view. For the analysis of view by fisheye projection, the area around the focus point is calculated wider than other areas, and so the view ratio depends on the position of the focus point. When analyzing sky view by dividing the sky vault into the differential area, the distortion by projection can be minimized.

The Prediction of the location and electric Power for Small Wind Powers in the H University Campus (대학교 캠퍼스 소형풍력발전기 설치 및 발전량 예측에 관한 연구)

  • The energy consumption in the world is growing rapidly. And the environmental issues of climate become a important task. The interest in renewable energy like wind and solar is increasing now. Especially, by reducing power transmission loss, a small wind power is getting attention at the residential areas and campus of university. In this study, we attempted to estimate and compare the wind energy density using wind data of AWS (Automatic Weather Station) of H University. In this case of a campus, the weibull distribution parameter C is 2.27, and K is 0.88. According to the data, the energy density of the small wind power is 12.7 W/m2. We did CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations at H University campus by 7 wind directions(ENE, ESE, SE, NW, WNW, W, WSW). In the results, we suggest 4 small wind powers. The small wind power generating system can produce 4,514kWh annually.

Spatial Segmentation of the Intra-Metropolitan Local Labor Markets : A Theroetical Review

  • Intra-metropolitan spatial segmentation of the labor marker requires barriers of mobility on both supply and demand side of the local labor marker. The phenomena of spatial segmentation of the labor market are particularly applied to the secondary workers rather than to the primary workers. Supply side barriers include the costs of obtaining job information regarding jobs outside of the immediate area, commuting costs, and barriers to residential mobility. Demand side barriers include site-specific technology and product demand, and discrimination. In this paper, I discuss these barriers and examine their implications for differences in segmentation by demographic and skill groups at the intra-metropolitan scale. In particular, I apply a job search model to examine supply side barriers such as information and commuting costs, and an implicit contract model to explain demand side barriers such as dual/internal labor market and firms' (re) location strategies.

  • The aims of this study was to provide information of sites to potential buyers and apartment builders through a comparative investigation on the urban criteria in 5 disDicts of Usan city Mugeo, Daun, Guhwa, Guyoung, and Cheonsang. The content analysis method was used to determine the urban factors which reviewed the urban and environment plan legal system and contents of plans which analyzed the housing characteristics in Ulsan city. Also utilized were professional's opinion and various emphasized elements such as the location of apartments through newspaper advertisement from 1990 to 1999. The urban evaluation factors used in this study were degree of air and noise pollulion, traffic facilities, land use, living environment and economics. Major findings are as follows: Mugeo area has the most convenience community facilities, Guyoung and Cheonsang areas have excellent natural environment-air and noise pollution.

  • Due to the change in modern lifestyle and social pattern, food service industry has steadily grown recently. Especially, in terms of familiarity, chinese restaurant can be most popular type of dining alternative to Korean. The project was aiming to establish a new branch of the existing restaurant which has a main location in Kangnam area and has been famous for it's food quality, kind services and good interior design. This restaurant is located in Seohyoun-Dong, Bundang-Gu, Kyoungki-Do and this area is very crowded by both residential apartments and commercial offices. Considering the complexity in regional characteristics, this restaurant has basically targeted frequent dining-out family groups. In addition, the floor design was flexibly developed to be able to accomodate large office dining customers. The overall design was intended to keep very elegant and simple atmosphere, developed to express eco-friendly image by adopting the 'Water' component in the floor plan.

  • This study proposes an analysis model to simulate a noise map and estimate noise distribution for a location and its surroundings of a power plant. The noise map analysis was executed by using ENPro that is a commercial program for environmental noise prediction. Experimental evaluation for the proposed analysis model was carried out by comparing the results from noise analysis and measurement at several major points of the power plant and residential areas.

  • This study investigated and analyzed the village space and architectural characteristics of Eoeun Village, Samgye-myeon, Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk. The space of the village was formed based on the idea of feng shui, and the Confucian hierarchical idea determined the location, size, and structure of the building. Recently, clan villages in rural areas have been dismantled and damaged due to population outflow and urbanization. In this situation, Eoeun Village, which preserves the traditional space and residential form at the time of the village's creation, is considered to be worth preserving and studying.

The Impacts of Climate Variability on Household Consumption: Evidence Based on Village Weather Data in Indonesia

  • This study investigates the impacts of long-term climate variability on household consumption in Indonesia, a country highly vulnerable to climate change. The analysis combines household survey data from nearly 5,998 families with satellite-derived weather data from NASA POWER spanning 30 years. We use the long-term variability in temperature and precipitation as a proxy for climate change. This study examines the impact of climate change which proceeds over the long term, unlike previous studies concerning one-off or short-term climate events. In addition, using satellite data enhances the accuracy of households' exposure to climate variability. The analysis finds that households in a village with higher temperature and precipitation variability significantly consume less food. This implies that households more exposed to climate change are at higher risk of malnutrition in developing countries. This study has a limitation that it cannot rule out the potential endogeneity of choosing a climate-vulnerable residential location due to economic poorness.

Karel Doorman, Rotterdam, the Netherlands: Unconventional with a Sense of History

  • Unconventional with respect for tradition: The Karel Doorman building stands in the heart of Rotterdam's shopping area and is a remarkable combination of restoration and new development. On top of the Ter Meulen shopping centre - a monument of the post-war reconstruction period - we have built an extremely light-weight construction in steel and wood (See Figure 1 & 2). This unconventional building method - at least in the Netherlands - enabled the construction of a 70 metres high 'glass' residential building with 114 apartments and 156 parking places. In this way a remarkable historic Rotterdam building was preserved for the future while at the same time new housing was created on a sheer impossible location, contributing to the quality of life and social safety in this part of the city.
