  • In order to improve project performance by analyzing the effects of the project manager's leadership competency and the individual competency of the project participants on the project performance, this study examines the effect. In this study, a research model and hypothesis were established to understand the causal relationship between leadership competency, individual competency, and project performance, and a survey was conducted based on this. Overall, it was found that the leadership competency of the project manager and the individual competency of the project participants had a positive effect on the project management performance, the project leadership competency had a positive effect on the completion performance, and the project participant individual competency had a negative effect on the completion performance. As a result of analyzing the effect of the project manager's core competency on the project management performance according to the amount or period of the project type, which is the moderating variable, it was found that there was no moderating effect on the management performance. For the success of the SI project, it is most important to understand the project characteristics well and select a PM suitable for the characteristics, and methods for nurturing excellent project managers should be further studied. In addition, it is expected that it will be possible to identify the effect of project manager leadership competency and participant competency on project performance based on sophisticated research design for more competent PM selection.

  • Currently, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are accounting for about 98% of the total number of enterprises in Vietnam. Each year, SMEs create over one million new jobs, utilize up to 51% of the labor force in the society, and contribute more than 40% of GDP to the country. The study aims to analyze factors affecting the management competency of directors in small and medium enterprises in Vietnam. To achieve these research objectives, quantitative and qualitative methods were used concurrently. 300 questionnaires were sent out, but only 276 were collected and used for the quantitative analysis through SPSS 20.0 software. Cronbach's Alpha, EFA, and regression were used to further confirm the research findings. The research findings show that all four proposed factors have impacts on the management competency of SME directors, among which enterprise features and specific policies for entrepreneur development in the locality have the strongest impacts, followed by personal features and business environment. The findings of this study suggest that managers need to focus on factors affecting the management competency of directors. This paper also provides new insight into the management competency of directors. Based on the findings, some recommendations are given for SMEs to improve management competency.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate influencing factors on nursing competency of nurses in long-term care hospitals. Methods: A descriptive research design was used with a convenience sample of 150 nurses. Data were collected from Feb 15 to Mar 8, 2017 using self-reported questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: The mean scores of self-efficacy, organizational citizenship behavior and nursing competency were 3.84 out of 5, 3.77 out of 5 and 3.80 out of 5, respectively. Nursing competency was positively correlated with self-efficacy (r=.63, p<.001) and organizational citizenship behavior (r=.64, p<.001). Factors influencing on nursing competency were self-efficacy (${\beta}=.38$, p<.001), organizational citizenship behavior (${\beta}=.37$, p<.001) and Clinical career(${\beta}=.14$, p=.011), which explained 51% of the variance. Conclusion: Based on the finding of this study, it is necessary to develop education and intervention programs in order to increase the nursing competency for nurses in long-term care hospitals.

  • In this study, we collaborated with the National Library of Korea's Library Education Institute to pilot the operation of a librarian learning community and aimed to measure its effectiveness based on the improvement of librarian competencies. A total of 28 participants attended four programs, and the research results are as follows: First, when analyzing competencies in terms of community capacity, attitude competency was the highest, followed by knowledge and skills competencies in that order. The correlation analysis among competencies showed that there were mutual correlations among the three competencies. Second, in the pre-post analysis of the three competencies and their sub-competencies, it was found that all competencies, including sub-competencies, improved. Based on the research results, it was confirmed that through the operation of the librarian learning community, the average competencies of librarians can be improved, which can directly impact the enhancement of the library's service capabilities. Therefore, it is believed that there is a need to activate the operation of librarian learning communities and explore nationwide dissemination strategies for the operating model.

Methods: A comprehensive review on related literatures was conducted in each section of 1) competency-based curriculum, 2) competency and competency model, and 3) contents of competency. Results: The nomenclature of competency including nursing competencies, competency modeling and competency-based curriculum were clarified and summarized. Through analyzing and reviewing former studies related to competency, desirable nursing competency modeling and nursing competency-based curriculum were proposed and described. Conclusion: Learner-centered curriculum should be established based on nursing education that emphasizes intellectual skills acquisition and the enhancement of future-oriented professionalism. Competency modeling should reflect the fact that teaching-learning strategies should focus on the integration of nursing theories and clinical practices. Nursing competency modeling is essential in order to develop a genuine competency-based curriculum while in-depth practical research should be followed so that nursing theories and clinical practices work together in a coordinated fashion.

Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design conducted between October and December 2021. The participants included 40 nursing students (20 each in the experimental and control groups) at a university in a South Korean city. The pediatric nursing competency-building program integrated problem-based learning and simulation into clinical field practice. The experimental group participated in the program, while the control group did not. Data were analyzed using the 𝑥2 test, the independent t-test, and repeated-measures analysis of variance. Results: Pediatric nursing competency and clinical performance showed a greater increase in the experimental group than in the control group. However, the change in problem-solving ability in the experimental group was not significantly different from that in the control group.
