  • There are many technical datum in related with design, test & evaluation and logistic support which will be exchanged between geographically isolated units and heterogeneous hardwares & softwares in developing and operating the weapon systems. The paper proposes the conceptual database schema to establish configuration management information systems in which these datum can be automatically interchanged, tracked, audited and status-accounted without errors under the various environments. The paper investigates how to identify and classify the data in accordance with document identification, task analysis, system development, logistic support, system test & evaluation and data management. Furthermore, the investigation includes drawing the subject areas and modeling the conceptual database schema to explain the relationships between these datum. Thus, the paper results in the conceptual framework and data models of configuration management information systems, while additional customization efforts be required in applying the models to a specific weapon systems R&D.

  • Recent studies have focused on self-management of hypertension using smart devices (cellular phones, tablets, watches). It has proven to be an effective tool for early detection and control of high Blood Pressure (BP) without affecting patients' daily routines. This systematic review surveys the existing self-monitoring systems, evaluate their effectiveness and compares the different approaches. We investigated the current systems in terms of various attributes, including methods used, sample size, type of investigation, inputs/ outputs, rate of success in controlling BP, group of users with higher response rate and beneficiaries, acceptability, and adherence to the system. We identified some limitations, shortcomings, and gaps in the research conducted recently studying the impact of mobile technology on managing hypertension. These shortcomings can generate future research opportunities and enable it to become more realistic and adaptive. We recommended including more observable factors and human behaviors that affect BP. Furthermore, we suggested that vital monitoring/logging and medication tuning are insufficient to improve hypertension control. There is also a need to observe and alter patient behavior and lifestyles.

  • What is individuals' privacy notion, and does it change with the social roles taken up by them? We explored these questions using a qualitative interpretive research approach. We found that individuals have mixed notion of privacy. Individuals view privacy either as a commodity or as a control. Further, we found that an individual's privacy notion is a function of their social role within the society and their privacy preferences. Our research points to the importance of expanding the notion of privacy to encompass a broader understanding of privacy preferences. We theorize our findings using social penetration theory and presents a privacy model which provides the logical framework for interpreting people's views on privacy.

  • This paper suggests a DEA/AHP hybrid model to deal with an allocation problem of research budget for the national research lab(NRL) program. The qualitative factors are appraised by AHP model and the quantitative factors are dealt with DEA model to evaluate the performance of research activities considering tangible and intangible factors. The proposed hybrid model is applied to get the importance weight of research areas for research budget allocation of NRL program.

  • There is substantial evidence from earlier researches that older adults have difficult seeing under low illumination and at night, even in the absence of ocular diseases. During human aging, there is a rampant decrease in rod/cone-meditated adaptation which is caused by delayed rhodopsin regeneration and pigment depletion. This calls for a need to develop appropriate visual gadgets to effectively aid the aging generation. Our research culminates its approach from Pattanaik's model by making extensions to temporal visual filtering, thereby simulating a reduction of visual response which comes with age. Our filtering model paves way and lays a foundation for future research to develop a more effective adaptation model that may be further used in developing visual content adaptation aids and guidelines in MPEG 21 environment. We demonstrate our visual model using a High Dynamic Range image and the experiment results are in conversant with the psychophysical data from previous vision researches.

  • Knowledge representation realized by information granules is one of the essential facets of granular computing and an area of intensive research. Fuzzy clustering and clustering are general vehicles to realize formation of information granules. Granulation - degranulation paradigm is one of the schemes determining and quantifying functionality and knowledge representation capabilities of information granules. In this study, we augment this paradigm by forming and optimizing a collection of associations among original and transformed information granules. We discuss several transformation schemes and analyze their properties. A series of numeric experiments is provided using which we quantify the improvement of the degranulation mechanisms offered by the optimized transformation of information granules.

  • As the use of AI becomes a reality in many aspects of daily life, the opportunities and benefits it brings are being highlighted, while concerns about the ethical issues it may cause are also increasing. The field of information systems, which studies the impact of technology on business and society, must contribute to ensuring that AI has a positive influence on human society. To achieve this, it is necessary to explore the direction of research in the information systems field by examining various studies related to AI and ethics. For this purpose, this study collected literature from 2020 to the present and analyzed their research topics through researcher coding and topic modeling methods. The analysis results categorized research topics into AI ethics principles, ethical AI design and development, ethical AI deployment and application, and ethical AI use. After reviewing the literature in each category to grasp the current state of research, this study suggested future research directions for AI ethics in the field of information systems.

  • This study compares and contrasts the intellectual development of the MIS field in Korea from 2005 to 2009 to that of international trends by using a keyword co-occurrence network analysis of the two flagship journals: APJIS and MIS Quarterly. From 316 research articles in these two journals, 132 unique and most frequently co-occurred keywords were put into analysis. The results of structural equivalence show a mild correlation between APJIS and MIS Quarterly. The e-commerce, trust, and technology adoption are the high frequency keywords in both journals. In Korea e-learning, purchasing, and recommendation systems turn out to be important keywords while outsourcing, research method, quantitative method, design research, information theory, and empirical research are in average international journals. This connotes that the Korean scholarship tends to focus more on practically oriented topics, but the clustering and relational mapping of research topics in each journal show a mild level of overlap with distinctive orientations due to intrinsic disparities depending on the concerned journals' geographical scopes, namely domestic or global.

  • Internet-based distribution of digital contents provides great opportunities for producers, distributors and consumers, but it may seriously threaten users' privacy. The Digital Rights Management (DRM) systems which one of the major issues, concern the protection of the ownership/copyright of digital content. However, the most recent DRM systems do not support the protection of the user's personal information. This paper examines the lack of privacy in DRM systems. We describe a privacy policy and user's privacy preferences model that protect each user's personal information from privacy violation by DRM systems. We allow DRM privacy agent to automatically negotiate between the DRM system policy and user's privacy preferences to be disclosed on behalf of the user. We propose an effective negotiation algorithm for the DRM system. Privacy rules are created following the negotiation process to control access of the user's personal information in the DRM system. The proposed privacy negotiation algorithm can be adapted appropriately to the existing DRM systems to solve the privacy problem effectively.
