Assessment of Water Quality in the Miho Stream Using Multivariate Statistics (다변량 통계기법을 이용한 미호천 본류 수질특성 평가)

  • In The study, is to investigate the spatial characteristics of the Miho stream, which is the main tributary of the Geum River system, and to identify the main factors influencing the water quality using water quality analysis and multivariate analysis. The survey subjects were selected as 7 main sites in the Miho stream water system, From 2012 to 2017, 16 items including weather temperature and weather data were used for multivariate analysis. As a result of the water quality analysis, the average concentration of BOD and COD for 6 years was 3grade (normal) compared with the water quality environmental standard (river) of conditions. The concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus were highest at th upstream site, then decreased and then increased again by the hydrogeological and geomorphological effect. Cluster analysis of spatial and water quality characteristics, it was evaluated as three clusters and the pollution sources is the greatest impact. As a result of principal component analysis and factor analysis on each cluster and mainstream, three to four major components were extracted. Main stream and the Cluster 1, Cluster 3 first principal factor included nitrogen and seasonal factors,first factor of Cluster 2 included nitrogen and water temperature. Nitrogen is the principal factor which affects water quality in Miho stream.

  • Forty-seven wild accessions of Lotus japonicus Regal (Japanese trefoil) indigenous to Japan were investigated for nine morphological characters. Average temperature and annual precipitation were negatively correlated with stem color and seed weight. On the other hand, latitude was positively correlated with these traits. Consequently, accessions from sites at higher latitudes with low temperatures and precipitation tend to have dark red stems and heavy seeds. Cluster analysis based on nine morphological characters classified 47 wild accessions into six major groups. Cluster I included four accessions of tall and erect plants. These plants are phenotypically similar to commercial variety 'Empire'. Cluster II consisted of three accessions of creep plants with pale red stems. Cluster III contained 24 accessions that had average values for all morphological characters evaluated. Cluster IV included two accessions of erect plants with rounded leaflets and dark red stems. Cluster V included four accessions of small, creep plants with pale red stems. Cluster VI included seven accessions of small and erect plants, a phenotype that also applies to ?Gifu B-129?, which is used as experimental strain worldwide. These data were deposited into LegumeBase, an online database (http://www.legumebase.brc.miyazaki-u.ac.jp/) supported by the National BioResource Project (NBRP) in Japan.

An Efficient Cluster Header Election Scheme Considering Distance from a Sink in Zigbee Environment (Zigbee 환경에서 Sink와의 거리를 고려한 효율적인 클러스터 헤더 선출기법)

  • It is important to efficiently elect the cluster header in Hierarchical Sensor Network, because it largely effects on the life duration of the network. Therefore, a recent research is going forward a research activity with regard to life time extension of the whole network for efficient cluster header election. In this paper, we propose the new Cluster Header Election Scheme in which the cluster is divided into Group considering Distance from a Sink, and a cluster header will be elected by node density of the Group. Also, we evaluate the performance of this scheme, and show that this proposed scheme improves network lifetime in Zigbee environment.

  • A high performance computing cluster for astronomical computations has been built at Korea Astronomy Observatory. The 64 node cluster interconnected with Gigabit Ethernet is composed of 128 Intel Xeon processors, 160 GB memory, 6 TB global storage space, and an LTO (Linear Tape-Open) tape library. The cluster was installed and has been managed with the Open Source Cluster Application Resource (OSCAR) framework. Its performance for parallel computations was measured with a three-dimensional hydrodynamic code and showed quite a good scalability as the number of computational cells increases. The cluster has already been utilized for several computational research projects, some of which resulted in a few publications, even though its full operation time is less than one year. As a major resource of the $K^*Grid$ testbed, the cluster has been used for Grid computations, too.

  • To understand the assembly of the galaxy population in clusters today, it is important to first understand the impact of previous environments prior to cluster infall, namely preprocessing. We use 15 cluster samples from hydrodynamic zoom-in simulation YZiCS to determine the significance of preprocessing focusing primarily on the tidal mass loss of dark matter halos. We find ~48% of the cluster member halos were once satellites of another host. The preprocessed fraction is not a clear function of cluster mass. Instead, we find it is related to each individual cluster's recent mass growth history. We find that the total mass loss is a clear function of time spent in a host. However, two factors can considerably increase the mass loss rate. First, if the satellite mass is approaching the mass of its host. Second, when the halo suffers tidal mass loss at a higher redshift. The preprocessing provides an opportunity for halos to experience tidal mass loss for a more extended period of time than would be possible if they simply fell directly into the cluster, and at earlier epochs when hosts were more destructive to their satellites.

  • The OpenDaylight controller has been receiving significant attention as one of the enabling open source framework for SDN, and this paper analyzes the architecture and procedure of OpenDaylight based controller cluster. The OpenDaylight controller cluster uses shard based distributed datastore and Raft algorithm to maintain consistency among controllers inside a cluster. The performance evaluation analyzes the leader re-election time as well as latencies of CRUD and Routed RPC according to cluster size, shard role, and sharding strategy, and we discuss the optimal operation strategy for OpenDaylight controller cluster.

  • Not a few nations have tried to copy the success of Silicon Valley since 1980's. Research of information communication industry cluster has emerged in Korea since 1990. In this background this paper thoroughly reviewed scholarly literature related to industry cluster with an attempt to extract dominant factors for cluster formation, and designed a survey instrument to measure the status-quo of cluster formation of software industry in Chungbuk Province Korea, as an example. Based on the results from statistical analysis a strategic scheme was proposed to propel software industry cluster formation in the region.

  • Intelligence Fusion cluster is a interdisciplinary program which consists of school of electrical, electronics, and communication, school of computer science and engineering, school of architecture and architectural engineering, and department of industrial design engineering. To make an effective management plan for intelligence fusion cluster, we surveyed students and faculty members who belong to the cluster. A management plan was derived based on this survey. The plan was presented in two ways: by curriculum improvement and research vitalization.

Proposal of a hierarchical topology and spatial reuse superframe for enhancing throughput of a cluster-based WBAN

  • A cluster topology was proposed with the assumption of zero noise to improve the performance of wireless body area networks (WBANs). However, in WBANs, the transmission power should be reduced as low as possible to avoid the effect of electromagnetic waves on the human body and to extend the lifetime of a battery. Therefore, in this work, we consider a bit error rate for a cluster-based WBAN and analyze the performance of the system while the transmission of sensors and cluster headers (CHs) is controlled. Moreover, a hierarchical topology is proposed for the cluster-based WBAN to further improve the throughput of the system; this proposed system is called as the hierarchical cluster WBAN. The hierarchical cluster WBAN is combined with a transmission control scheme, that is, complete control, spatial reuse superframe, to increase the throughput. The proposed system is analyzed and evaluated based on several factors of the system model, such as signal-to-noise ratio, number of clusters, and number of sensors. The calculation result indicates that the proposed hierarchical cluster WBAN outperforms the cluster-based WBAN in all analyzed scenarios.
