  • Background: Scientometrics is a useful method for management of financial and human resources and has been applied many times in medical sciences during recent years. The aim of this study was to investigate the status of science production by Iranian scientists in the gastric cancer field based on the Medline database. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive-cross sectional study Iranian science production concerning gastric cancer during 2000-2011 was investigated based on Medline. After two stages of searching, 121 articles were found, then we reviewed publication date, authors names, journal title, impact factor (IF), and cooperation coefficient between researchers. SPSS.19 was used for statistical analysis. Results: There was a significant increase in published articles about gastric cancer by Iranian researchers in Medline database during 2006-2011. Mean cooperation coefficient between researchers was $6.14{\pm}3.29$ person per article. Articles of this field were published in 19 countries and 56 journals. Those basex in Thailand, England, and America had the most published Iranian articles. Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Mohammadreza Zali had the most outstanding role in publishing scientific articles. Conclusions: According to results of this study, improving cooperation of researchers in conducting research and scientometric studies about other fields may have an important role in increasing both quality and quantity of published studies.

  • Purpose - This study strives to discern trends in research productivity in the Journal of Consumer Behavior. It will identify prolific authors and institutions in articles over ten years (2004-2013). Research design, data, and methodology - The Journal of Consumer Behavior was chosen and articles over ten years were analyzed. Research productivity was determined by categorizing the data into four themes: number of authors per article, author affiliated institutions, a list of prolific authors over a ten-year period, and author-affiliated countries. Results - Authors have a propensity to collaborate on a research paper, yielding a high frequency of articles with two or three authors in a single publication. In addition, author and institution productivity was highest in North America and Europe. Conclusions - The research productivity of the Journal of Consumer Behavior is unprecedented. The trends and insights from this study will allow academics in the area of consumer behavior to observe leading authors and institutions. Moreover, speculations about the leading countries and institutions, not to mention top prolific authors in consumer behavior, will be elucidated in this study.

  • Objective : To research the trend of the study related to rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and to establish the hereafter direction of the study on RA. Methods : We have selected 12 medical report about RA in Arthritis & Rheumatism and Journal of Rheumatology recently, reviewed them, and investigated their methods. Results & Conclusions : The pattern of study was as follows: physical & serologic research in 2 articles, immunologic research in 7 articles, and genetic research in 3 articles. There is now evidence of the benefit of treatment early in the disease course and evidence of the impact of treatment on outcomes. New classes of therapeutic agents have also been introduced. Wherever possible, these revised guidelines are evidence-based. By the above results, it would be needed further research on RA mechanism related immunologic and genetic process.

  • Objective : Melanoma is a very critical and devastating disease. Although many people have depended on surgical operation in melanoma treatment, they have placed importance on non-invasive methods constantly. So we planned to establish a research methodology by analysing existing articles containing conservative melanoma treatments in Journals of Korean Medicine published in Korea. Methods : Using search words of anti-cancer, B16, cancer, lung metastasis, melanoma, metastasis, S-100, SK-MEL, tumor, tyrosinase, we collected 26 articles by searching internet portal sites as following;Using search words of anti-cancer, B16, cancer, lung metastasis, melanoma, metastasis, S-100, SK-MEL, tumor, tyrosinase, we collected 26 articles by searching internet portal sites as followinghttp://oasis.kiom.re.kr,http://www.koreantk.com,http://www.riss.kr,http://www.dbpia.co.kr,http://www.ndsl.kr,http://kiss.kstudy.com,http://www.naver.com,http://www.google.com.Result : The number of articles is 26 and in the year of 2003, 2004 is ranked the highest number in publication. The journal of acupuncture & moxibustion society ranked the highest(30.8%). 2 and 4 authors ranked the highest(26.9%) in number of authors. T-test ranked the highest(58.1%) in statistics methods. P.O. med indicated in 11 articles and Pharmacopuncture in 15 articles. B16 murine melanoma cell was indicated in 25 articles by cancer-induced methods. In measurement, T cell activity was indicated in 14 articles, NK activity in 4 articles, IL-2 in 6 articles, apoptosis in 1 article, lung metastasis in 14 articles. Conclusion : Considering overall results, it is necessary to diversify cancer-induced methods and measurement methods in experimental melanoma research.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest new safety code to improve the safety of the flare safety system. Firstly, we analyzed the major accidents occurred at the flare system since 1996 and proposed 3 articles which is required to be added newly to the existing KOSHA code. Secondly, we also performed the HAZOP study for each study node and also suggested 5 articles. Finally, we analyzed the commented contents of PSM reports which have been submitted from the enterprise located in Honam province since 2005 and proposed 5 articles as well. We understand that all 13 articles proposed above, should be added to the KOSHA code in order to improve the safety in the flare system and to prevent the major fire and explosion accidents in the design stage.

Specifically, we analyzed a total of 156 articles for research contents, instruments, subjects, statistical analytic methods, and references. The results of the study are as follows: First, the principal areas of research activity and publication were specific theoretical review, personality, and adjustment research. Most outcomes, processes, and outcome researches were conducted in a form of case study. Second, typical samples contained 4 to 6 year old children or elementary schoolers. A lot of them were counseling center clients or normally adapted children. Third, 37% of the articles used ANOVA-related statistical analytic methods, and 35% of them used descriptive statistical analytic methods. Lastly, many articles averagely cited foreign references written 11 years prior to domestic references.

  • This paper intends to provide some guidelines for the articles to be published in Survey Research. For that purpose, we review the research articles published in Public Opinion Quarterly in 1991, 1995, and 2000, and identify the characteristics and the analytical methods and data used in these researches. Articles in Public Opinion Quarterly have some implications to the Korean survey research community in such a way that the types of researches to improve survey qualities and meta analyses of previously conducted survey researches seem to be the most useful and necessary at present.
